Ok so I'm due in a few weeks and have my MCN stash...But I need some more help...

What kind of washing powder (or alternative) do people use to wash their MCNs? I've heard you use less powder than normal...exactly how much??

How many times should I prewash them before they are used?

Someone said not to use zinc based products with MCNs...so what do you use instead??

Any other tips and bits and pieces I should know??

Thanks in advance!!!

Oooook good questions!

I personally use Bosisto's EucoFresh. I ADORE it.. I also have some Eucalyptus oil that I occasionally pop in when I do a hot wash (every now and then). You will get a different recommendation from everyone, that is just the one I like the best.
If I am only doing nappies, I will use one of the small scoops provided (its like a tablespoon measure), if I fill the wash up with towels or other washing I will use two.

I personally pre-wash 4 times. Which is basically popping them through the wash cycle 4 times. No need to dry in between and I only use washing powder in the second wash and plain water for the other 3.

With the cream.. Well I personally have a kind of paste that I use that is my absolute favourite for nappy rashes. But putting a disposable liner in the nappy works well for me, keeps the paste off the nappy and on their bottoms. :)
I don't use it at every nappy change at all, only if bubs bottom looks a little red or dry or just looks like it could do with it.. Not every time.

I don't have anything else to offer, since you didn't say what you are using.. But good luck, you certainly seem to be thinking about things well.

Pretty much what Nibble said.

I use whichever eco-friendly powder is on special. At the moment, it's Ecostore, but I like Bosisto's Euco Fresh better...it seems to last for more washes. I use about half a teaspoon of powder.

I prewash 2 or 3 times for microfibre; 6 or 7 for bamboo or hemp. There's no need to wash them by themselves- just chuck them in next time you wash your clothes.

DS hasn't had nappy rash for about 4 months. However, I did use Sudocrem and nothing happened to the nappies. Using it on a regular basis would probably do some damage though.

Other tips?
Washable or flushable liners are great for when bub is older and has formed poos.

Don't use any whiteners in the wash. Hang the nappies with any pooey parts facing the sun and they'll be gone in no time.

If you don't already have one, get a portable drying rack so you can move it to the sunniest spot.

Oh, and hide your credit card...MCN are addictive!!!:laughing::laughing:
