Just wondering if anyone has suggestions on outings for me to take my 22 month old... i have a husband who works pretty much 7 days a week with the occasional day off so get really bored especially on the weekends and am running out of ideas on what do do with my toddler.

I don't have many friends to visit so that is out of the question! Also we don't have much money.

We are both a bit sick of visiting the same parks so some other ideas would be great!

TIA

Every day I have at least one walk with DS where we leave the pram at home and he just loves it. He can explore so much more when he's not in the pram, so our pram-free walks are purely just for a bit of fresh air and exercise and he just loves it. We go around the block, into the big courtyard between the apartment buildings where we live and sometimes around to the oval where everyone walks their dogs.

The best thing is that it costs nothing to go for a walk and kids that age are just happy to be out and about, they dont' need much to keep them amused. I don't go out in the heat of the day when the UV is bad (like from 11am to 3pm), so our walks are often just after his dinner or at around 5pm before dinner.

make day trips every now and then, pick a park far away from you? or a place youve never been to not far away , drive there, or take the bus/train etc and make a day out of it, bring a picnic lunch and "explore" a new area:)

musueums are usually pretty cheap to get into and alot often have fun kids acitivties/sectios etc depending on where you live.

indoor play centres? some can be cheap etc all depends

a day out at the beach if you live near it, even if you dont make a day out of it to travel an hour or so, same goes with the country/bush etc.

join a playgroup, they are often once a week so at least it fills one day a week and you can meet new mums etc and your daughter can play with kiddies, there usally only $2 or so.

go on bikerides/walks, or them push along triciycle things are good

play outside in a blowup pool etc, can be hours of fun for little kids

go to a local pool? also lots of fun.

hope that helped:):)

Also check out your local library. I am meaning to go to mine with my 17 month old DS for their kids story time. I think it is a weekly activity - then we'll spend time getting out books after too.

Here are some lists of things to do in Melbourne:

http://www.whitehat.com.au/melbourne/Lifestyle/Children.asp

http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/info.cfm?top=17&pg=1888

Also look at:

* Your local library - they have free story sessions / rhyme time sessions
* Your local playgroup - these are cheap and you can to 3 sessions for free to see if you like a group before actually joining
* Your local churches - quite often they have community music classes that are about $3 per class (in WA we have "Mainly Music" at a local Baptist church that is $3 per session)
* Your local halls / rec centre / community centre - one near us runs "Wiggly Woo" which is a dancing and music session that costs $4 per session
* Your local pool - often they will have entertaining classes or sessions for kids that are not too expensive
* Your local PCYC - they often run kindergym classes for only a few dollars per sesson

Playgroup or mothers' group
Library (toy library or normal library)
Going to a lake/pond feeding the ducks
Beach
Pool
Maybe go for a walk every day but go somewhere different each day so its not the same thing all the time, even if you have to drive somewhere then walk (like a nature walk in a park or botanical gardens or something)

Hope I helped.

Hi, I don't know what's around you, but there are the obvious park, museum, library, art gallerty etc

Check out local churches for playgroups and craft mornings (who says you can only go to one??!!)

If there are any unis near you check what facilities they have - you can sometimes pay an annual fee to use their pool etc - cheaper than the general pools

You can go to garage sales and op shops - my little ones have gotten lots of great things - their choice, and lots of fun choosing.

Check with your local council - we try and go to as many free family fun days as possible- free entertainment, rides etc

Hope this gives you some ideas to get you going.

Good luck
