Hi there... 3rd and last pregnancy and by choice would like to go private.. prior births were public and i have no complaints other than sharing a room with other ladies who's visitor's always seemed to be loud!!! So i am so LOST as to where to start with private hospitals here in Bris.. Does any ladies have good or bad reports on any that i should lean towards or stay clear of.. I am based in Carindale.. Thank you so much for your time...:flowerz:

Congrats on your pregnancy! I had my DS at Sunnybank Private Hospital and absolutely loved it. Am going back to have my second there in a few weeks. The midwives and nurses are fantastic, comfortable rooms, good food. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I had my baby at Sunnybank Private and loved it. The food was great and the midwives where wonderful. I have recommended it to all my pregnant friends. You will need an Ob that delivers there aswell. Neil Shilton is really good and his office is only across the road from the hospital. He is always on time for his appointments, another bonus and his fees are quite reasonable also.

if you wanted to go public, but have your own room, the Redlands Hospital is fantastic

so is the redlands private :)

I had DD at Mater Redlands......I put finding breastfeeding easier to the midwives there. They really put in the effort to ensure your technique is spot on.

This time I am going to the Wesley to follow my Ob/GYN. I am hoping it is just as good:fingerscrossed:

I can also highly recommend the Redlands Private! They were excellent when we had our twins in May last year.

I had my baby at the new Mater Mother's Private hospital. I loved it, it's so calm and light filled, the facilities are great. The views are excellent. The birth suite was nice and roomy, has a shower and a deep bath (for pain relief, not birthing).

The midwives that I came across were all really nice, and you see the same ones each day, as each ward has its own staff, if you know what I mean. The rooms were great - like being in a hotel, if you ask me - and the food was really good (buffet style, AND good vego options. I'm not vegetarian, but I don't mind eating meat free occasionally). They even serve a glass of wine with dinner.

There are plenty of quiet areas to sit and chat with visitors if you're going a bit stir crazy in your room - lots of sitting areas by the windows with views of the city, the river and the southside etc. Also was great for me in the middle of the night when neither bubs or I could sleep - we watched the twinkling lights in the city.

I've only had one baby, but I stayed there twice. I really liked it and have already told my husband we're going there again when/if we have another.

I have heard good things about Sunnybank Private also and am considering going there for our next bub when he/she is on their way.

It's between there and Mater Private. The only thing Mater has over Sunnybank for me, is that there would be no transferring to another hospital because of a certain level of care not being available for bubs.
Has anyone given this much thought ? It didn't really cross my mind last time, though I went public. But now I tend to think of the 'what ifs' too much.

I had my son at Mater private before the renos and it was wonderful! I'll be going back for sure with #2, and I've heard that it is even nicer now :)

I had both my children at Mater Mothers Private and they are fantastic. They have the best facilities out of all the Private Hospitals and that includes if something goes wrong.......which it won't. I just liked have the reassurance of backup, I had complicated pregnancies so it was good to have! Good Luck

I also had both my children at Mater Mothers' Private. I'm extremely happy with them both times. I just had my 2nd baby there last month. The new hospital is great and I absolutely loved all the midwives at level 10. The food and other services were great also. They have ward nannies who volunteer they're service to help mums with anything they needed. I was so comfortable there I really didn't want to go home.

My sister gave birth to her first bubs there two months after they opened. The rooms and hospital in general were lovely and new. Not sure if it was just because they had opened a few months earlier, but she found it hard to get midwives to come in and assist. One night her and DH waited two hours for the middy to help them bathe bub. Also she never saw much of the midwives on days 2 and 3 of her stay. She said they were great with bf.

All in all she said she would go back, maybe I have really high expectations considering you pay so much to be there in the first place.

I also heard that a lot of public patients are being transferred to the private floors as the public ward is full. Great bonus for all the public patients! :D

Im going to either Sunnybank or Mater Private. Prefer Sunnybank as its quieter, easier to get to and free parking LOL. Obviously thats not why I chose it - but they are added bonus' hehehehe

It depends on your past pregnancies and births and what your risk factors are.
My pregnancies were healthy, straightforward and I had very low risk factors and both my babies were term.
Going to Sunnybank for antenatal and then free parking during my hospital stay and post-natal appointments was handy and much closer to home.
I would still choose the Sunnybank!!
