My daughter is two on Friday and sleeps in a big bed. Our routine has been that when she goes to bed i sit outside her door until she is asleep or settled. I am wanting to break this habit and get her used to going to sleep by herself. If i am sitting outside her door she sometimes gets up once or twice, opens the door, sees that i am there, gives me a cuddle and goes back to bed. If i am not outside her door she comes running out hysterically screaming and then it takes alot longer to settle her.
For her day sleep, she only takes about five minutes to fall asleep and nightime might take about 10-15 minutes. Hubby said that maybe if we cut the daysleep out, she might go down better and night. I don't think that this is the problem. Am i expecting too much from her and is this fairly normal.
My plan at the moment is to slowly move my sitting position down the hallway further from her door, to finally being in the family room. :fingerscrossed: The reason that i am looking at changing this is that i am pregnant again and cannot see myself being able to sit at her door to get her to sleep with a newborn aswell.
What do other people do to get their children to stay in their rooms and how long does bedtime take in your household.
I have spoken to other mums but all their children don't get out of bed and go straight to sleep.:ecomcity: :ecomcity: :ecomcity:
Honestly, please tell me i am not the only one when a escapee on the loose!!!!!!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
