Hi

I am just wondering what your baby's sleep routine is or was. Do you have one??? I am a little curious as to how others little bubs sleep

Yes, I'd be interested to hear too....

Ella is 5 months. She is a bit all over the place at the moment. She sleeps for about an hour after her first feed then. Again for an hour or so at about 10ish. Then after lunch for a couple of hours, then again a nap at about 5pm (1/2 hour or something) then after her bath at night. 7ish.

I think she's sleeping too much during the day though, coz she's stopped sleeping through the night.

Hi, my boy is 5 months and one week old and sleeps:
0845 - 1100
1245 - 1500
1645 - 1730
1915 - 0615

I know that sounds like quite a lot, but he seems to need that much. He is fully breastfed and a big boy, 7.8 kg at 4 months (haven't been back to weigh him since but would guess over the 8kg now).

His sleep has been a bit disrupted lately and I have been wondering if he needs solids but I always say, I'll give it 2 days and see - and he settles again. I am hoping to make it to 6 months before starting solids but will see. Might only make it another week I suspect.

I don't knwo if it has made a difference but I have tried to keep him to a routine since early on. In practice, this really just meant waking him for feeds every 3 hours in the day at first (as opposed to letting him sleep) and keeping an eye out for when he is getting tired. I have never used controlled crying or anything like that (I get asked that a lot when I say how much he sleeps). I think I am just lucky and he is an easy baby who likes his sleep.

Hope that helps!

My boy is 4 1/2 months bottlefeed and is abit all over the place but normally his routing is

7.30am Bottle
8.30am sleep about 1hr
10.00am Pureed fruit
11.30am Bottle then 1-1 1/2 hours sleep then playtime
3.30pm bottle and 1 hour sleep
5.30pm vegetables then play time
6-6.30pm bath
6.30-7.00pm bottle and bed
3.30am bottle and back to sleep

however in the last week he has not been sleeping as well during the day
he tries to not have his afternoon sleep but is so tired by 5.30 he is really cranky
and his morning sleep seems to be breaking into 2 1/2 hour sleeps.
I think he my be starting to teethe and he is getting frustrated as he is trying to crawl.
He is on solids already as he is a very big boy 8.5kg. he was starting to sleep through for a bout a week but that has stopped in the last week.

I am interested to know how much sleep he should be having during the day.:)

Yeah well I am tearing my hair out!! My bubs is nearly 5 months and she has been sleeping through the night since birth up until about a week or so ago! She now wakes up twice through the night demanding a feed which I give to her....She needs to increase her quota of milk during the day which I can't seem to do...she has been on 150's since about 2 or 3 months and won't increase..only take more bottles at night! Someone just told me today that between 4-6 months things completely change as they are going through such a huge growth period...this made me feel better:)

I feel slightly more normal now knowing that this is quite common!

This is my first time I have posted anything, but I couldn't resist this one cause I can really relate! My DD is 4 and half months and she wakes up almost every hour! She has never been a good sleeper, but at about 8 weeks she was only demanding 1 night feed. Now I feed her at 3 times and resettle her up to 8 times! She sleeps at lest 3 hors during the day, sometimes more. Her day sleeps don't seem to help the nights.

It's nice to know that it's a normal thing for a 4- 6 month old.

I would love to hear if anything has worked for anyone. I feel as though I have tried everything!

I forgot to mention that we do not have a strict routine, but DD has 1-2 hours in the morning (2 hours after waking) and then goes down for another 1-2 hours (2 hours after waking from morning sleep). Sometimes she has a nap in the afternoon. DD seems happy during the day and sleeps quite well, it's just the nights!

Does anyone give a bottle of formula at night? I have heard that can help but I'm yet to try it.
