View Full Version : Would you have the Supernanny in your house?

We love watching Supernanny in our house, the kids say it's one of their favourite shows. If we haven't watched it for a while and the kids, especially the older one, are starting to lose it then we watch an episode and it reminds them how good things are for other people when they behave.
DH and I have said that if Supernanny comes to Australia then we would sign up straight away. Our kids aren't really naughty but we do need some advice on how to deal with some things, especially their mother and other external influences that we can't get rid of or can't control.
Personally I'd love Dr Phil to rock up as well. I think he would kick DH's ex's butt bigtime. Would love to see that.

No way! Don't need her  Don't like some of her methods and I think a lot of it is commonsense but I think a lot of people find it helpful for strategies and ideas.

She has some good ideas, but I'd rather Dr Phil instead lol.
lol LCM I have to agree about common sense, there is this one episode that sticks with me, a 3 year old boy who would CONSTANTLY go walk-abouts. Down the street, on the road, few blocks away....
So supernanny put a chain-lock on the door.
DUH?! Why did they wait for her to do that?! That's the first thing I'd do!!
I don't think I'd have supernanny, I do try some of her techniques but it is really common sense.
I'd love to have Victoria Stillwell teach my dog how to heal... :p

**** no! I find her completey un asseptable. lol.
But there was one episode I saw where she helped a family learn to deal with their austistic son better, in situations like that she did seem to help. I couldn't put up with her though
does she have kids of her own?
ROFL yer maybe to give her a chalange lol, Have you noticed she never seem to Super nany children with special needs maybe they are out of her league, I could be wrong but I have never seen any SN kids on her show, some maybe have mild SN but I have never seen her with servere SN kids, So yer maybe just for a laugh to show her what life can really be like
Im so mean arent it

 No thanks. I find her annoying and her solutions are exactly the same for every family. If it's not working then it's the family doing it wrong, not that her advice stinks
I'm also not really open to listening to ideas from someone that doesn't even have her own kids.

Fairly, he was 3 and wasn't talking at all, had huge tantrums etc. by the end of the show, he was able to say single words and ask for things, rather than just scream when wanting something.
I havn't really seen many other episodes though.

I love watching the show, but mainly because I like seeing other peoples' feral kids and the terrible things they get up to :D
I always wonder though if everything actually ends up as happily ever after as they portray on the show... I doubt it.
I wouldn't have her in our house, we only have one child so we should be able to handle her... :o

Hehe bring her on I say! I reckon my 3 would give her a run for her money :D
Sure I'd have her...
If she's willing to stay a week, do every wake up, all night feeds, all kindy runs and not leave my babies to cry.
Plus all housework and meals.
So she can see how 'easy' it really is to keep taking a child back to the 'naughty' spot for 30 minutes, while Julian want to be fed, O or J are demanding something, Gabriel wants to be put down for a nap, the washing needs to be hung, and O and J want morning tea...
Oh.. and Julian needs a nappy change.
OH.. and the child in the 'naughty' spot keeps coming out...
haha.. while the other one has a tantrum because you haven't given them the juice they asked for 20 seconds ago.
AND Gabriel keeps trying to use Julian's foot as a teething ring.
:laughing::laughing:
On 3 hours a night sleep.
I think she'd crumble.....
OJandME :
id watch that eppisode
i dont think id let her in.
she would go nuts at the whole toy situation the only time they are all away is when DD is alseep at night:o
i think id laugh as DD new thing is when you say no she screams and has a melt down:rolleyes:

 I would LOVE for her to come to my house! I watch an episode a couple of weeks ago, and it's like she was in my house - 5 & 3 year old girls talking back, having attitude and mum and dad just totally jack of it! I must admit I got on her website and did some research. Since implementing some of her strategies, things have changed :yelclap:
It's not about how she teaches the child, it's more on how to teach the parent on how to cope wiht the childs' behaviours effectively. I knew logically how to discipline my girls, but I struggled to cope with the screaming and door slamming! My problem is that my kids don't behave so naughtily in front of anyone else except myself and their dad!
I say BRING IT ON JOJO!!!

Sure, I'll take all the help I can get. I might not implement everything she suggested, but it would be good to hear her suggestions.

Heck Yeah, JoJo Rocks.
As for the people who called her method's common sense.. of COURSE they are! but common sense is pretty uncommon these days. Plus, when your kids have pushed you to breaking point, it's possible that "all sense" may run away. (mine's standing bout 50 meter's away right now!:p)
