I have a plastic nappy bucket that I brought with a nice secure lid for dry pailing..

I did it twice (as in for two lots worth of nappies) and decided it was awful.
It REEKED of ammonia.

So I stopped using it and they sit on the floor of the laundry until I get to them which is usually within at least the next day.

But I want them back in my bucket, seeing as the poor bucket is totally abandoned without nappies in it.

So um.. Any solutions to help with the smell. :)

Poor some bi carb soda in the bottom and then some grease proof paper over the top of that! Then put the nappies in.

It helps with the smell as it draws the moisture causing the smell away!

I did it with DS when he was in nappies as he has REALLY strong acidic smelling pee, and the difference was amazing!

I usually wash mine out with lux & hot water each time I empty mine and leave it in the sun for an hour or so, you can also get those orange circle thingys for buckets & wet bags to help neutralise the smell.

I get my orange thingys from Nappies Covered :)

I just pour enough in there to cover the base of it.... not completely... but just enough iykwim.

I also wash it out with hot water once they are in the washing machine and let it air out for a bit before I put more nappies in there!... (well however long it is before the next nappy goes in there... which was usually an hour or two)

I rinse mine with some very hot water and leave the bucket and lid out in the sun for a day.

:) I have washed my bucket out properly between fills, but once I took the nappies out the bucket itself didn't hold any smell.

I just start with a freshly washed bucket after each load then throw in a damp facewasher with a few drops of yummy smelling oil ....

Makes it easier !
