Hi Guys,
WOW!!! We are brand new members and its great to see so much support on this website.
We are a lesbian couple living in the South West of WA looking to start a family so doing alot of research atm.
Looking for advice on how to go about finding a sperm donor etc.
Look forward to hearing from you:)
Hey Guys,
Welcome to Bub-Hub, and congratulations on TTC!
My partner and I are about to start ART at a clinic here in Adelaide, but spent last year TTC at home with a donor.
We joined a few websites and advertised for a sperm donor without much success - probably because we were very picky - we wanted someone who would be a repeat donor for siblings, someone who wanted no parenting rights or responsibilities, and someone who we thought was a nice guy.
Eventually we found someone who we thought was suitable through LOTL magazine - he was a multiple donor - but after using his 'services' for most of last year we got to know him better, and realised we didn't want the level of contact he was pushing for - 'family picnics' with all the other donor kids and their families too, 'donor's day cards' instead of father's day...etc. We were with him when one of the other couples had a baby, and it was his reaction then that kind of sealed the deal for us that he wasn't the right one - he was talking non stop about HIS new baby, and HIS other children -which freaked me out.
All I can say is when it comes to picking a donor make sure you meet with them a few times to get to know them, and if you at all get a 'feeling' trust your instinct  It's also importnat that everything is out in black and white when it comes to level of contact, and involvement in your lives post baby's arrival.
If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask :D
Good Luck :flowerz:

Hi,
thanks so much for your reply :)
we are looking for the same things from a donor as you guys are. we wouldnt want the donor to be involoved in the babies life and would also like a repeat donor. it would be good to have someone we know but not sure that we know any guys that would fit the criteria etc.
it is so mind blowing how something so simple can be so involved. if you know what i mean.

Hey JakandJill
Welcome to the site. I am also a newbie to the website also andmy fiance and i are about to begin our first attempt at AI done ourselves.
I know what you mean by how something so simple can be so involved. Makes me wonder for about 1/2 a second that i was straight and then i come to my sensors ;)
Our donor is a friend of ours who were lucky to have. He doesnt want any role in the childs life and is willing to sign over all parental rights. We feel very privileged.
we have found alot of information by searching websites on google. if you need any info were more then willing to help any way we can.

HI girls!
My sister and her partner are now the proud mummies to triplets!
They live in Perth and although had there own donor felt very supported by the hollywood team.
Other friends of theirs had a anon donor who they are going back for a repeat soonish.
Anyway!
Don't have much of the 'technical' info but just letting you know of two lovely mummy x2 stories!
Hi Jak and Jill
I'm from Perth and my partner is currently 20 weeks pregnant with our very long awaited baby. We have a known donor - our best friend (who is also gay) and we plan to coparent together as much as possible.
We went through Concept fertility clinic and had a very difficult time conceiving due to my partner having unexplained infertility. It took us 4 years, 9 cycles of IUI and 6 cycles of IVF (not to mention a whole heap of cash) but we are finally waiting for our precious baby.
If you are looking for a known donor rather using an anonymous donor through a clinic, there are some websites you can check out. The used to be a big one called Australian Sperm Donor Registry but I can't seem to find it, maybe look at these -
www.pinkboard.com.au
www.free-sperm-donations.com/
Good luck - I "know" another same sex couple online that live in Bunbury that had a baby with a known donor last year.
