This might be a bit of a TMI sort of question, but how thoroughly do you rinse your nappies after a poo? Do you need to get rid of every trace, or just as much as will easily wash off?

I have to wash every day atm, but will probably end up washing every second day once I have a big enough stash. Do the nappies stain more if you don't wash them straight away or get rid of every tiny bit of poo when you rinse?

I'm planning on getting the parts to make my own DIY little squirt this weekend, but until then it takes ages to get everything off DD's nappies just rinsing them under the tap or flushing!

I have a little squirt which works wonders, gets pretty much everything off really quickly

Hopefully your DIY works as well :fingerscrossed:

How old is your bub?

When James was still only breastfed, I didn't bother rinsing the nappies before wash day (which was every 2nd day)...I just chucked them all in the machine and put them through a rinse cycle first to get the poo off.

Now that he's on solids, I use flushable liners, but there's still the occasional mess:)...in which case, I definitely rinse them in the sink before putting them in the nappy bucket!

DDi s nearly 8 months old. She is sort of at that halfway point where it isn't as frequent or runny as a newborn, but doesn't quite roll off IYKWIM. (TMI I know! :p )

Oh, that stage is a bit of a messy one, isn't it?!

I would definitely rinse them before putting them in the nappy bucket!

I've heard of some people buying one of those big bottles for spraying weed killer and filling them with water instead of buying a Little Squirt. Much cheaper and probably just as effective!

Using fleece liners can help a lot - the poop is more flick-off-able and comes off easier. You'll find using a little squirt or variant of one will basically rid the nappy of any residual poop - just make sure you have good water pressure. :)
