Hi all,

I have just received a few sample packs of MCNs and am ready to do the hot pre-wash.

My question is - can I do the hot pre-wash for ALL the nappies at once, even though some are natural colour and some are brightly coloured? Or will the coloured ones run and stain the plain ones?

Thanks!!

I've never had a MCN run its colours..

But it might depend.. Maybe someone else can tell you for sure. :o

I also do one hot wash and two warm washes as my pre-wash.

Thanks NCB!!

Also - can I generally use any boosters in any nappy? I don't want to decide to keep 4 different nappies (for example) and then have to find 4 lots of extra boosters for that brand.

I understand that the snaps might not be exactly the same measurements etc, but that's ok.

What material boosters are the best to use?

Thanks!!

Do you have any minkee nappies? I find these are more likely to run, esp the dark colours. The red and black BBH Magicalls can run a bit I think.

Apart from that though I've not heard of any issues with colours running.

Not sure what you mean about boosters - is that relating to snap in ittis? I think snap ins have to fir properly to work. If you have pockets or AIO you can use most boosters provided they fit? I like the Green Kids ones and the BBH ones.

Bamboo would be my choice, though many people like Microfibre.

I'd get boosters that don't have snaps. You can just lay them in, its no big deal.

DDU has Kissaluv boosters (both regular and super) on special, I grabbed a few of those and they look thirsty to me. :)

So long as the booster doesn't hang out the sides of the legs or whatnot there is no reason why you can't use it. Doesn't have to be any particular brand.

I was wondering this myself! Just got me GKs in the mail and one of them is black the other butter yellow. Don't want the black one turning my lovely yellow one grey!

I might give the black one a hot hand rinse (with some heavy duty rubber gloves so I don't burn my poor hands!) first to get any excess dye off and then just throw them all in together. Otherwise it would be a huge waste of water and power to put the washing machine on for one nappy!

I know this is probably to late as you would have well and truly washed by now! But I have only ever done a cold prewash on my new mcn's, 3 times, and I always wash my nappies in cold water too. Never had any trouble with colours running and I have all minky's (itti's & magicalls) in a variety of dark & light colours.

i was a bit worried whenever i got new nappies (usually buy 2nd hand) but never had any problems...i had new minkee nappies...both ittis and magicalls in colours like red and black and washed together with other colours with no issues.

Turns out my GKs were fine in the wash all together. The only problem I came across was that I washed the bamboo inserts with the nappies and the black funtime ended up with fluff all over it!
