I know when I stopped feeding dd at 1, my doctor decided she had a lactose intolerance (She didn't though) and I got prescription formula for her, it was about $20 for 4 tins, was great.
I am still a booby Mum to ds, so can't hep you much there. Best idea would be to keep and eye on the sales etc, I do see a lot of good stuff on sale in Toys R us etc, but am not sure if they are allowed to put formula "on sale" Have you tried the chemist outlet at brand depot? They could be a little cheaper.

I found the heinz formula to be cheap, and Lachie had no probs with it. I bottle fed from 7 months with him

Riley was bottle fed from 7-8 weeks old, (i had nothing) and we used S26 gold it used to only be $20 a tin way back 2 years ago but n ow its gone way up in price, when it went up we used Heinz for a bit, and another one i cant think of..
just plain S26 its self has gone up in price also..
we found the best for Riley was S26 others didnt seem to fill him up as much but once he got to 12 month he was on cows milk :) good luck hun.

if you go to the chemist warehouse you should get cheaper, or if you go to big w they have formula quite cheap also :)

again good luck hun

we had dd2 on the heinz formula from 0-12mths and from memory it was about $12 per tin from big w, or about $16 from woolies (probably has gone up in price since then though) good luck
