both of my twin girls have started to put their index finger into a pooey nappy pull it out and than come and show me  .they dont want to use the potty and dont like the big toilet.just this week they got a tummy bug :( and have been doing very smelly, pasty coloured poos.they used to tell me POO but find their finger gets a more instant reaction.i dont like to toilet train in winter as i like to leave pants off and its just to cold so has anyone got any ideas how i can stop the pooey finger syndrome,or any ideas for toilet training in winter?after 4 kids i should know but the twins are so pedantic and they mimic each other so what one doesnt like the other wont even try!they've just turned 2.

aww hugs i have no advice as i never had this (thou had the takin the wet nappies off an makein we we mess
i jsut wanted to say Hang in there :)
Sorry I can't help with that either but I just wanted to say that sticking their finger in it is better than a friend of ours who sticks his finger in his bum and smells it - he has been doing that for at least a year!! Don't know what's with that either!! lol. :D
when my daughter was 2 years she used to hold on to her poo until sleep time. Once i put her to bed she would do the poo and then take her nappy off - you can imagine the mess on a daily basis. My solution was to put her nappy on backwards and then sleep her in her cancer foundation bathers ( the ones with the zip at the back ) That way if she did a poo she could call out to me to change her but she could not acsess the poo. It only took two days and that was the end of that drama. Now she is 2 1/2 and trained for both during the day.

Oh pickles you made me laugh. I could just see the mess now!! It reminded me of when I put my daughter down for an afternoon nap and on this particular day I could not understand why she was yacking away in her bed and thought no, I am not going to go in there, she'll nod off shortly. Ten minutes later I went in there and she had taken her nappy off and there was S*** everywhere. :p I was dry reaching at the time but see the funny side to it now. After that I always put undies over the top of the nappy.

All this reminded me of an incident that once happened at work. I will set the scene, it was a hot and humid Sydney summers day and the little bubs were all asleep in their cots. The ear piercing sound of the smoke alarm rudely disturbed the hush that had finally decended on the babies room. In a hurry we opened the door to the cot room to grab all the little babes. Lo and behold there was a little angel having a mighty good time with the contents of his nappy. It was smeared all over himself, the cot and the walls!!!!
With no time to worry about cleaning and hygiene etc with the smoke alarm blaring one of the teachers had to grab this cherub and dash outside :D
We then had to sit in the sun and wait for the fire brigade to give us the all clear to return back indoors. You can just imagine the stench in the sweltering heat, and the flies!!!!!!! YUK
Need I say more?

dee dee that is too funny,I am sure it was not funny at the time! :D
I never knew that babies liked to take off their nappys and play with the contents, something to watch out for....YUK
We had the pooey mess too with my daughter ... what we did was put her to sleep in a pair of flannel overalls that were made with a button up front which she couldn't get off!
Luckily, at the time that we were having her room "re-decorated" on a regular basis, my dh was working as a cleaner and carpet cleaner, so I had ready access to hot steam cleaning to get rid of the mess!
My sympathies!!!!
