Was just wondering what you do with your little ones while you have your shower in the morning. I DS (12 months old) normally gets up between 6.30-7.30 and I used to wait till he went back for a sleep before having my shower which meant I was still in my PJ's sometimes at 10-10.30am!!! Have just started to put him in his cot with some toys and having my shower while he plays (and cries lol) as I got sick of waiting so long to look decent. What do you do and how long do you wait??

Depends what age...when they're immobile and awake then it's in the bouncenette. DD is now 2.5yo so she just hangs about watching TV or sometimes comes in with me (oh yay, just I want).

That in between phase where they'll roll, crawl or toddle and get into mischief - shower when they're asleep or when partner is about.

i havent had our bubs yet, but i have read and going on the advice from my sisters that they've had showers before their DP/DH has left for work each morning.

Granted it means u might have to get up a little earlier but u can always go back to bed/sleep again. least u've had a shower for the day then.

Im hoping to put this into place once i have our bubs, so im hoping it will work! :)

they come in with me. i used to shower with them but now they sit up on their own and both can walk i put them in the bath while i shower. sometimes i put a dvd on but mostly they just trash the lounge room.

i cant wait for DP to come home to have a shower, he works away most of the time so i would be waiting a week to shower LOL

They come in with me. I used to put DD1 in the rocker with toys until she could sit up then (bathroom floor is always clean) put toys on the ground for her. Now with DD2 because i have a shower/bath combined i put her in her bathseat and she has a shower with me.

Mine all come in with me, i have a little suction seat we use in the bath which she sits in or i place a washer on the floor of the shower and bub sits on there splashing about. The washer just stops her slipping while i use soap and stuff.

I have mine at night after DP gets home so he watches them. I like mine at night so I'm clean and fresh before bed :o

Or I duck in while Ginger is sleeping and Oscar is out with his daddy.

Set them up in a safe place watching telly with some food. And when the other kids are around...they watch her.

I jump in the shower while my partner is still home in the morning. I like getting organised and ready for the day...not sitting around waiting OR not having one at all.

Put the highchair in the bathroom with snacks and/or toys and then you can see them and they are secure.

When he was really little I would put him in the stroller/pram, strap him in and wheel it in next to the shower so I could see and hear him. Also a rocker would work too when they're little.

I never had a partner that I could wait for to come home or anything, and sometimes you have to shower or go out when the baby is awake, so this is what I did.

My son is over 2 now so he either watches a dvd or comes in with me these days.

When he was still very little I would sit him in his bouncer in the bathroom. As soon as he could sit up on his own he would come into the shower/bath with me.

My DD is 6 months and i shower with her sitting in her bouncy chair in the doorway of the bathroom where i can see her.
If DH is around he can look after her but if i need a shower and bub is awake that's what i do.
Bub enjoys the sound of the water and is happy.

If I am not going out anywhere in the morning, I just wait until she goes for a nap at lunch time :p
But if I am going out like I did this morning, I just go have a shower anyway, because the house is kidproof and there is gates stopping her from getting into rooms shes not aloud to etc. so she just watches tv and plays with toys in her bedroom and loungeroom. I can still hear her because I leave the bathroom door open (and she can't get into the kitchen or bathroom). Sometimes I will put her in her highchair too.

i used to pop ds in his rocker in the bathroom with toys whilst i had a shower. When he was a bit older i put him in his ''spaceship'' (a bouncer thing with toys attached)
Now that he is almost 14 months and walking it has changed again. i feed him breakie in the high chair and when he is done, i let him play with the spoon and bowl. he stays there watching elmo and does not even notice i have slipped away to have a shower.

She bashes on the shower door and yells about the fact that I'm in there and she's out here.

Keeps her occupied for the time I'm showering and I know where she is

I take him in with me mostly now...he's just started solids so is very messy...so I give him breaky then we both go in the shower..he plays in the bath underneath while I shower.
Otherwise he plays on the bathroom floor....hes just started to crawl and is into EVERYTHING so I like to be able to see him:D
For the loo...I now either give him a noisy toy he likes and pee quick, dump him in his cot with toys, put him in the jolly jumper or occassinally take him with me:o..amazing how he can unravel the loo paper now much quicker then I can pee:D

If I waited for him to be asleep I'd be dirty and incontinent:rolleyes: a lot of days

I usually shower before DH does to work in the mornings. I need to be up and showered before 6am which isn't always easy, but I much prefer it that way. Atleast I then know that even if I don't get anything else achieved all day, that atleast I had a shower!

Yes this happens to me all of the time too! Even though DH is at home while I shower, the kids still love to be close to me! 5 minutes is all I ask!

Until DS was around 15-17 months I would put him in his pram and wheel that into the bathroom and give him toys/objects to play with. Now he just plays in the lounge or comes in and stands at the shower door until I finish.

When DD was small she would be in her bouncenette in the bathroomk with me, or in her swing in the lounge if she had fallen asleep.

Now she is crawling and climbing everything I have to try and shower when she is asleep (which never works because she wakes the second the water starts running and cries until I come get her!) or she sits on the floor in the bathroom and destroys everything  while I shower as fast as possible!

This morning she pulled all the tissues out of the box, threw a roll of toilet paper in the toilet (I forgot to close it!), eat some of the tissues, destroyed a magazine, pulled all the towels off the railchewed on the bath mat and banged on the shower door until I opened it so she could see me! The price I pay for wanting to wash my hair!

My DS is 6 mths and he has a bath in 2 inches of water whilst I watch him through the shower screen (he lies on his back and kicks, and munches his toys)

We also have a bath seat but the one time he tried to use it he slipped forward.. for later on tho.

We baby proofed the bathroom and he has a stack of toys in there. He plays happily and chats to me at length while I shower and DH shaves.

When she was really little i would wait till she had gone to sleep before i showered, as she would only settle for me ( i had the milk lol).

Then when she got bigger i used the jolly jumper in the doorway of the bathroom..she loved it and i could see her.
Or BEG my DP to watch her for 5 minutes so i could get out of my pj's before 1:00!

Now at 14 months she comes into the bathroom with me and talks to all her bath toys while she waits for me to finish, OR plays in the lounge room..sits on her little lounge watching ABC kids ..good ol playschool  i have a safety gate across my loungeroom door which i close if she wants to watch tv whilst im showering..all her toys are in there as well, most times she's happy to munch on breakfast whilst watching tv. ( i know tv is evil..:ecomcity:..but if it gives me 5 minutes to wash my hair..so be it!!)

I've always had a shower before DH has left for work,so not had any issues with managing DD as such...

DH doesn't leave for work until 1030-11am, so I have a shower while he looks after him. If that wasn't a possibility I would wait until DS was asleep, or bring him in with me (which I sometimes do now).

exept for a few weeks were I used a baby bath, dd has come into the shower or bath with me.
If that's not possible I used to put her in her bouncinet right beside the bathtub so I could still reach her and she could see me.
Since she can walk and I don't want to have shower with me poor thing has to watch, but she stays in the bathroom with me usually.

It's hard though, sometimes in the early days I never got out of my pj's or brushed me teeth! lol.

Well I just let the door open so they can come in and out as they pleased. Most of the time they just stay in the bathroom watching me,

Or we all have a shower together!!

I just wait til night time & they're both asleep. Last time I tried one through the day dd woke up as soon as I went into the bthroom. I swear she has senses that know I'm going to do something without her & she cracks it.

That's what my DD is like! She is so annoyingly clinggy at the moment and I have to have the shower door open and have to talk to her the whole time I'm showering! I don't have anything to talk about so it is jjust a running commentary of what I'm doing! "Mamma is washing her hair now. This is the shampoo..." :p

For the last 12 months or so the best way to shower when my ds is awake is putting him in the highchair in the bathroom with toys or now with his breakfast. Keeps him occupied and means I can shower when he's awake.

In the last few weeks he has tolerated me having a shower while he plays. I just leave the door open to the bathroom and he wanders in (usually with toys in his little red wagon to show me - not realising I have my glasses off and can't see a thing!) and out. In reality though I prefer to shower when he's in bed at night, ideally when dh is around.

Am i the only one who dosen't have showers ?
I dont have them. I take baths. When im in the bath i mostly have one of my two in with me. If i want a bath by myself so i can wash my hair i have DD and DS minded by my Mum or brother. When DS and DD are asleep is a good time for me to have a nice hot bath too !

 same here, I can always see my ds while I am in the shower, when he was tiny he was in his bouncer on the bathroom floor, now he is 9 months, I sit him in his highchair or in his playpen, which I can see out my ensuite door.
This enables me to know where he is and also to be able to enjoy my shower.

I shower before his up in the morning, or after he goes to bed at night. Most evenings we actually shower together though :)

I only ever shower when DH is here before he goes to work or after he gets home. I used to shower when they were both napping but now DS doesn't have day naps I can't do that anymore.

If I know its only going to be a quick shower and depending on what mood DS (19 months) is in, I'll sit him on my bed and put the wiggles on while I shower in the ensuite so I can hear what he's doing and can easily see him.
Other times I'll take him in with me and he'll have a bath while I shower (they're combined)
Or, if I can I'll wait for his nap.

When he was younger I'd put him in his rocker or walker on the bathroom floor. He wouldn't be anywhere without me.

DD used to sit in a rocker/bouncer type chair in the ensuite doorway until she got a bit big for it. When she started rolling i started putting her into the portacot with some toys and books and wheeled that just outside the ensuite doorway. She is 15 months now and still happily sits/stands in the portacot and plays while I shower. We often also sit her in there near the dining table while we have dinner. I think she is happy with it because she is so used to it! (dont worry I dont stick her in there all day - promise!)
