Hi Guys
Over recent weeks I have been woken up at night by severe pains in my left hip, accompanied by numbness and tingling, its a bit like pins and needles with joint pain. It only happens when I am laying on my left side, and takes a fair while to subside once I have turned over.
I have felt numbness in my left hip before getting pregnant, but nothing like this.
Its really irritating and the pain wakes me up.
Anyone else had this? I don't think it is classic pubis symphisis, but I don't know what it is and its worrying me a bit.:(

Kinda sounds like sciatica to me.
Does the pain extend down your leg, or up your back at all?
It sounds exactly like how mine was, although mine didn't just last while I was lying on my side - it happened all the time! Sciatica, BTW if you don't know is pretty common in pregnancy, its just caused by the expanding uterus and weight putting pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Ask your doc about it next time you go - but the things that helped me were stretching it out, warmth (ie warm bath, heat packs etc), and having the bub! It didn't really go away for me until DD was about 3 months old, and even now I get the occasional twinge.
Hope it all works out okay for you!
I had something a little similar late in pg, but I just put it down to the extra weight on my hip when lying on my side. It would happen on either side, whichever I was lying on. Both times it disappeared after the birth. Don't you just hate trying to sleep in the late pg stage?

hi there.. i used to get the pins and needle feeling under my breasts near my ribs.. and would sometimes feel very numb also... i think its just from the way the baby was pressing up against me.. more then likely sounds like nothing.. and i also had pains aswell and so bad that got woken up from them.. its a stressful time for your body so i just think its caused by everything thats going on.. if its worrying u get checked out by ur midwife or doctor.. im sure everything will turn out to be normal

But I am only at 12 weeks and I have had this problem for a few weeks now.
I suppose it could be a bursitis or something, some inflammation in the hip joint.
I will ask the doc next time I go in.
Cheers all:hugs:

It certainly sounds like sciatica. I've got the same thing in my L arm. Right pain, I do remember having something similiar last time. It didn't last very long if I remember correctly. Hopefully yours will subside quickly.:fingerscrossed:
