Hi I am a single mum in Brisbane, Southside.

My choice to be one as my partner, the father of my six month old chose to drink away his earnings and left no money for the family.

I actuall love being single most of the time I was as single mum with my son of 6 since he was born. But I find I get quite lonely on the weekends when my friends are doing things with their hubby's and their own families.

I find it hard sometimes to make friends as I hate making the intial contact with people from fear of rejection and shyness.

Am I alone with these issues?


Does anyone know of any single mums groups that do things on the weekends?

Angela welcome. No your not alone. Im sure there are other single mums that feel alone. I am shy when it comes to meeting new people but once they know me there s no shutting me up:laughing::laughing:.

i'm sure that if you check the thread further down this page, 'imayoungmummy' posted one fro single mums in brisbane....... not too sure if that's going to help because i live in sydney, but you could always start your own :D
