Keep items in which you don't need, want or use simply because they were a gift from someone, or do you discretly get rid of them??

I have some gifts that we don't use in the cupboard. I would get rid off them but i'm lazy and i might need them one day.
I guess it depends on the gift and who gave it - if was from someone i loved and they gave a thoughtful (though useless) gift i would keep it. If it was just a useless gift from someone who doesn't care i would get rid of it - no worries.

Depending on the type of gift, I usually put them in a cupboard & give them as gift to someone else that I know would like it or use it. I know some ppl think this is wrong, but really, if I know they'll like it & prob use it, then why not pass it on.

It depends on who gave it & what it is lol
We tend to get a lot of inappropriate presents from Brett's grandmother. Lots of really inappropriate things for his age! Little pieces, matchbox cars... for a 9 month old.
We chuck lots of things in the cupboard or chuck them usually. A lot of the stuff is pure **** lol

Depends who it's from.
We have gotten a lot of gifts from people that Dh and I don't even know. (freinds of MIL), if they are dodgy, they go to a better home.
Back to mil mostly so she can have them at her place:devil6:

If it's from people we know we keep them in a seperate box in the garage.
I'm not sure what to do with this box as yet.:o

We got a lot of useless stuff from my partners side of the family, and friends of his family from the UK that I can't get rid of because it would offend.

Somethings that I got from my family I am re-gifting to my little sister who is pregnant or my friend who just had a tiny baby girl. But I'm making sure to tell the people who gave it to me! Like the 20 odd Bonds "easysuits" that we found impossible to use that my Mum got us are going to my friend who had no problem getting them on her little girl. But Mum would rather someone get some use out of them!

It depends..

I will try and re-gift the item to someone but only if I know that they would like it.

OR

I give it to St Vinnies

I've never recieved a gift that I didn't want. I got some leather gloves from my Mum last year that I don't think I'll use, but I think they're beautiful so I've kept them. I couldn't imagine getting rid of a gift unless it was something I already had. Then I'd probably just change it over for something else...

My MIL came around yesterday, and under her arm was a beautiful cut glass Krosno vase, still in its box that I gave her over 10 years ago for her 60th birthday. She gave it back to me!!!! She was cleaning out her cupboards and decided she had no more use for it, so she thought she would give it back to me. Its not the first time she had done this. It really hurt and offended me, as I put alot of effort in to choosing presents, I feel personally rejeted when somthing like this happens.

So back on to topic, yes I do keep what ever gifts I am given, though my MIL has given me some "interesting" gifts over the years, so I am wondering if I could start retuning them back to her:rolleyes:

So far I've only thrown out 1 gift that my step mum got for dd & that was a 2nd hand, or very old bottle & dummy set, one of the teats for the bottles had black stuff on it & the bottles, teats & box were covered in thick dust. As soon as we opened it it went straight in the bin. Oh yeah the bottles were that soft plastic, like the dolls bottles are made of  :barf:
