I kind of have a 'rule' that unless I'm sitting breastfeeding DS (with my laptop on the sofa beside me for something to do), I don't go on the computer whilst DS is awake, unless I have to urgently pay a bill online or quickly look up a phone number.
I just feel like I'm ignoring him and neglecting him if I just sit there on the computer, so I don't do it. Obviously I have to do housework/cooking/etc whilst he is awake, but that stuff just has to be done and quite often DS is trying to 'help' with that stuff anyway. Otherwise he just happily plays whilst I do the necessary things. Then at other times I play with him or we go out for a walk (we walk every day, once or twice both with and without the pram)
Do other people kind of have that sort of rule too?

I have a big chair that rocks in front of the computer so i breastfeed DD while i bubhub and rock her there sometimes if she is unsettled and i need to sit down - then when she drops off i'll browse for 10 mins before i go put her down.
Otherwise i'm on here when she is asleep.
The rest of the time i am busy doing other things ie looking after bub, cleaning etc.
Yeah pretty much, even though the boys are too little to care at the moment anyway! :D
yeah,
while DD has lunch i bubhub  (she refused to let me help her, so i just sit next to her)
if she is playing with my parents i "chill" on the computer:p
or we both hop on. she loves looking at pictures on facebook. and when its raining we go onto knee bouncers

I don't really check the net when DD's awake,it's usually a quick 2-minute look to check mails or responses to posts on bubhub :D.I try not to be on the internet when she's awake because I don't want her to be a laptop-tv-playstation kid.I want her to be a person who'd rather spend time outdoors/play with toys.

Not generally no.
More so because now she is so demanding and wont let me sit down for more than 5 mins.
Also she wants to play with everything, especially the keyboard and my laptop, she has already broken my mobile phone. So if I dont want her playing with our computers then I just dont go on.
I like spending the quality time with her any way.

sometimes, but mostly only while DP is home.
I do when DH is home so that he wil play with her, If I am in the room then she wil only play with me KWIM, but i do other stuff firist
I log on sometimes during the day when Miki is sat next to me colouring and doesnt want me to help her, As she wont let me leave her side to do anything else lol
Do i think I am neglecting her by doing so NO i do not, If any one else thinks i am wel they can come over and take a look for them selfs how much time I put into playing and therapy and loveing my DD, She likes me to sit her wheelchair next to me and colour, I certainly not on here all day but for 10 minutes here and there KWIM
A majority of the time I am on here however is when she is in bed at night but that is also done in blocks of however long as she if up on and off all night when she wakes i go and cuddle her or do what she wants me to do until she falls back to sleep
So yes but not for a long time
Oh and lol if everyone bar me on bubhub only logs on while there kids are sleeping and NEVER logs on when there awake then you guys must have some great sleeping babies lol

Nope. I only jump on here if DD is having a nap or if she is down for the night.

I pop on and off throughout the day - I usually have the computer on and when I walk past I'll hit new posts or check the ones I'm subscribed to. Other times DS and I check out things together - we like to look up animals and also videos of India on youtube. I do more browsing when both boys are asleep though.

I go on inbetween everything I have to do.
Today so far I have washed, cleaned bathroon and loo, and vacumed and moped.
I have played outside with DS in a little tiny kiddie pool and we played with the dog. We also played Mr and Mrs potato head for a while.
If he is busy by himself then I leave him, it doesn't happen much and when it does I take advantage, besides independant play is important. Children shouldn't have to be amused by someone all day long.:)
DH doesn't leave for work until 10:30-11am'ish, so I generally get all the housework done in the morning. Then after lunch DS has a huge 3-4 hour nap, so I clean up after lunch, maybe have some washing to do, then have 2 hours of boredom, have to cure it somehow . Lately I have been having a nap with him too though being 6 months preg.
So, do I go on the internet while DS is awake? No I dont :).

We are the same as above ....
DP is home lots so that also makes a difference but still I dont always get on cause it would send me barmy !
Boof & I often sit here together & we learn letters words etc plus search for pictures etc as J's mum said !
What also helps is our computer is in our loungeroom which is tiny so I can see the kids in the loungeroom & dining just by looking across !

 sure am.
My computer is in the living room, and is on all the time, so I often stop for a 5 minute sit down.
I use it rather than watching tv at night too.
The other thing is, at the moment I am trying to teach/encourage DD to play on her own. She is at a stage where she expects 100% attnetion ALL the time, and it is difficult to maintain. She has a great imagination, and I am trying to encourage it .....so sitting here where I can see her and talk to her without actually playing WITH her is a really good compromise for us.
We still do plenty of activities together, inside and outside, but she has 'quiet time' during the day, and a period during the day of playing by herself too ....
anyway - it works for us. I am definitely not neglecting her .... :D
Yeah, my laptop sits beside the couch, so when I'm sitting down I'm refreshing, or hitting new posts or pulling out my pink stick ;) :p
Cobey plays really well by himself too  he spends so much time outside, he'll breeze in to tell me about a beetle, take a sip of a drink and then run off again!

Yeah, 10 mins here or there while dd is playing by herself, and all the housework etc. is done, I will jump on and browse for awhile. Not every day though, depends what we are doing, and if we are even home.
 Like he'd let me lol but in all seriousness I suppose you could say yes but not really. Aidan has two naps a day so once the house work is done I jump online and then of course when he's in bed. The only time I go on it when Aidan is awake is when he has lunch. He has a sandwhich and milk and I take the laptop and sit with him, not everyday as most of the time I'm doing the dishes or putting things away. When Aidan is awake we're together 24/7, I'm a helicopter parent so there is no way I could let him play in another room while I surfed the net.
Not only that I cant go online when he is awake because he likes to open and close the laptop and mash the keys so I couldnt do anything even if I wanted to. I get most of my housework done before his morning nap so we've go the whole day together and that way while he naps I can have plenty of time to do things that I like. LIke talking on the phone, online or scrapbooking. Like I said even if I didnt mind going on when he was up there is no way in the world the monkey would let me online. DH takes him for walks every afternoon when he gets home from work so I can do dinner which is great. I made dinner at lunch time today so lucky me I get to vege with a coffee and BH :D I'm lucky I get a lot of spare time when Aidan naps and DH is really hands on I dont often feel I need a 5 minute zone out.

When she was a bit younger and had day sleeps I had a rule that I didn't go on the computer while she was awake.
However she is very, very clingy and demanding and doesn't do anything by herself so recently I have started going on for about 10 minutes some days- just to try and encourage her to go and play by herself. We have a new baby coming so want her to know she can't have ALL my attention ALL the time. Wouldn't be more than 10 minutes at a time though.

I feel bad now. I am on the net alot during the day, but I have thought about turning it off when the kids are awake (though Hayley doesn't have naps anymore) I was sitting outside with the kids the other day and I felt guilty I don't do that more often. Its not as though I am on here all.day.long and I do spend quality time with each of them but yeah, I think I am gonna just be on the net at certain times. I will try anyway.
I only ever came on the net when DS was asleep but then, for a while there, I was on quite a bit when he was awake.
Then DS was diagnosed with speech and hearing issues so I gave it up and I'm now only on when DH is here or DS is asleep.

Absolutely I Bubhub while my kids are wide awake - but I Bubhub while at work...:o
My kids are 7 and 4.11 - so all I'm needed for most of the time is to be a referee... LOL
Apart from that - yeah I walk past, hit new posts, look for a minute and back off to hang out clothes, stir the pot (dinner that is) and to hury someone along to a bath/teeth/ etc etc
yeah, i'm on here while kids are awake. but then i don't do housework while the kids are awake lol. my kids are very independant and they are happy to entertain each other for ages. but they are mini cyclones so i don't bother cleaning unless they are asleep, otherwise i'll be repeating in 5 mins lol.
I have my Comp on most of the day, When the kids are awake i will just check my subscriptions and new posts quickly then do what needs to be done.
Its when there in bed and normally late at night that i go have a browse and do most of my replying.
DD is quite demanding now and 'needs' me to play with her every waking hour and i love playing girly with her lol.
