So, I now wish I had researched MCNs before having 3 babies under 18months...
But am now thinking it still might be worth it for me to grab some, (am about to go have a look at MU and search for some special prices)....at the moment Ds1 is clear- he is an undie boy day & night...Ds2 (turned 2 on the 10th) is pretty much an undie boy during the day - but I can see him in nappies for a fair while yet (DS1 was almost 3 when he went dry at night)., I might put a nappy on him if going out to the shops or for a play date etc...DD (turned 2on the 10th also), has really showed very little signs of being out of nappies soon, she wants to wear undies like her bro's, and sit on the toilet and pull faces, but I think she'll be in nappies for at least another 6 months, maybe even a year during the day and night.

So...after that little :ecomcity: - I just wanted to ask you MCN gurus - Do you think I should grab a few??
how many and how many liners ?
Please point me in the right direction:D

atm I buy the Homebrand (cheapest) pack - $15 for a pack of 44 and that lasts less than a week, so even if DD is in nappies for the next 6 months thats almost $400...double that if it's for the next year
..surely I can buy something for less than or equal to that???

TIA

I think it would be worth a shot especially as you can get double duty nappies like pockets that are great during the day then super boost them for nite iykwim ! Especially if you can try a OSFM as this may do for both kids ....

I would try a few different types & see if anyone can loan you some etc & see how they all go.

It can be really hard as some kids suit certain types whereas they wont work for the next or simply we as mums prefer an easy option like AIO's etc.

I would definitely recommend trying out a couple of Green Kids as they are a OSFM pocket & are roomy enough to stuff to what suits. These are a great work horse for us & are an easier option.

I do adore Cherubs Kiss & other AIO's like Bubblebubs but they can be a hassle in that they are sized, you may need to add in a booster depending on how heavy your kidlets wet & they can take FOREVER to try come Winter.

For us the next best thing is an AI2 which means it can all be taken out & dried alone making it easier come Winter & easier to add extra boosting as needed. Berry Plush are our fav's here but you still have the issue in that they come sized.

You could still make a saving depending on how you do it & you can still re-sell them after so you will get something back ... More so than sposies ;)

Thanks Ally...what does AIO mean? - all in one? like it doesn't have a pockety bit for a liner?

The green kids stood out to me in the reviews section on here (and I think I read about them in a mag)...

Yep - wished I researched this way back 4 years ago!!
DS1 we used Huggies for three years because they were on the ads EVERYWHERE ...and after about 12 months with DS2 & DD we switched to homebrand or mamia ....just imagine the $$$$ we could've saved :hair:

TBH I don't know of anyone out here that uses MCNs that I could borrow one from..
Might just go with my gut from reviews and suggestions on here!!

thanks again:goodvibes:

You should keep an eye out on Buy for Baby for some second hand ones.

Some people try a nappy and find it doesn't suit them, so you can get basically a brand new one for a great price.
There's nothing wrong with buying used nappies either...as long as the seller provides photos so you can make sure there's no staining or whatever.

I second the greenkids! Love them and they never have leaked. Check out OZEbaby for seconds inserts as the are cheaper and there isnt anything wrong with them!
Large magicalls may be an option too.....

Sorry had to deal with G !

Yep AIO stand for all in one !

It means the nappy is all enclosed mmm say like a sposie & you just pop it on bubs nothing more needed !

Pockets need to be stuffed with something like hemp, bamboo or microfibre ( or even terry flats for that matter ! ).

I can send you a 'larger' GK's to trial .... Sasha was lovely & made me up a few larger sized ones because Boof was such a big boy ! Not sure how they would go on your kidlets as they may be smaller iykwim. Just yell if you want cause it doesnt bother me !

Magicalls are another option ... I Havent tried the new ones but many rave about them being even better ! They are AIO's with a PUL outer compared to others that use fleece or minky.

But yep go for places like Moneys Undies, Buy for baby & Ozebaby for getting things cheaper etc !

:D thanks girls for the pointing in the right direction...will have a look at those sites tonight when kids are asleep.

Ally - what a lovely offer - thankyou :goodvibes:
DS2 is 13 and a bit kg, DD is only 11.5kg - and quite petite...how do you think it would go?

I'd personally recommend itti d'lish snap ins. You can buy extra booster sets (or acquire something similar elsewhere) and then re-use the outer shells a couple of times before washing them. So effectively you could buy say 6-12 d'lishes (they come in bulk packs) and end up with twice as many nappies if you get some flats or extra booster sets.

This is what I'd do if I wanted an economical option.

As it is, I'm addicted to fluff and have over 60 individual MCNs :o

i recommend anything in the baby beehinds range. the magicalls especially for ease of use and they are good nappies but not highly expensive. i also recommend buy for baby once you know what you are after.

No probs ! I will PM you shortly about the GK's ! I got these for when Boof hit 11kgs around 10mths of age as he was also rather tall & ive often had G in them now who is tiny compared to what Boof was & while they are large they still work iykwim !

See Ella I cant say that Ittis are that great !

Most rave about them but I cant see all the hype !

Its like meh especially because they just do not hold the amount of wee my boy can do LOL maybe its because of the amount of fluid he HAS to have or something but I really do believe the narrow crutch is the real problem for us.

OK

I on the other hand can't understand how anyone would pay $23 for a basic empty pocket and then $10.50 or more on the stuffer. Works out to be a pretty expensive exercise for plain old nappies.

I'm just giving my suggestion as you gave yours

I guess it really is each to their own in nappies, you just have to work out what works for you as well as your kids...
I don't like my itti's for the low rise, my magicalls take forever to dry, even though I love them and my other AI2 (snap in) just doesn't do anything for me (a WHAM). So I'm left with checking with pockets now, buying a trial pack, then if I like them probably starting to make my own boosters.

I think that yeah, it would be worth buying a small stash, if you get a OSFM nappy!

Fiveinthebed  Do you go into Mildura at all or another major town (I say Mildura cause we lived there and the closest major town for a day out was prob Broken Hill :o) The babyshop in Mildura stocks peapods if you want to have a look at one. Peapods are ok for basic nappies and reasonably priced considering they have a bamboo insert :)

I think MCN are brilliant for TT as they can get them off easier to jump on and they do feel the wetness when they go for a wee more than with a disposable...
Best of luck

Thanks Missiemack, haven't been to Mildura for a while...:o ..Thinking its just easier to shop online with my three littlies!

But thanks for the suggestion. Maybe if DP ever gets holidays we might head there, or maybe for a weekend...
Are they much different in price and quality to some of the other MCNs mentioned here?

:goodvibes:

Oh and Ally - I have PMd you..thanks again:thumbsup::D
