Losec and ? wind/ ? constipation

Has anyone else had experience with secondary problems with Losec? baby is five weeks old and have been on Losec for five days - started to notice improvement early on with reduced screaming and less frequent feeding particularly at night but yesterday very very unsettled again with lots of wind, squirming, writhing etc. Did really big poo this morning which was thick and sticky and has been a little better today with less wind. Is this common.

Is bubs b/f or formula fed ?

It takes around 2wks for Losec to truly be working so hang in there often there is an intitial reprieve but then its hell until it really kicks in.

I was also told by our GI that it can hit the system hard in terms of helping it clear out so this is why bubs poo may seem odd & they are unsettled.

Give bubs lots of tummy massages & tummy time to help move the wind & help with the pain & hopefully over the next week you will really see an improvement ...

That said if you dont feel its right then head back & have a chat with your Paed.

thanks - baby breast fed - just got over initial problems with this. Have oversupply of milk and causing lots of wind production from overload by only feeding off one breast then now obvious symptoms of reflux.just a little despondent that seem to be going backwards but will keep persevering.

Reflux really sucks ....

Have you tried looking at your diet in regards to something possibly causing the reflux from that angle ?

Wheat & dairy tend to be the major culprits so getting rid of those for 2wks will also help to see whether they are contributing ... Its always worth a shot !

Hang in there ... Its hard but it will get better I promise !!!!
