I was thinking aout hireing a capsule for No'3 and have a few concerns.
How long did you use it?
Do you recomend one?
I have heard you can hire them for about $60 for 6 months, around that.
I wanted to know if they were worth it as far as how long will bub fit in it. I have had 7lb babies so far. Both have been turned around in the normal car seats to front facing at around 5months 8 or so kg.
I just wanted others thoughts and experiences.
thanking you

I hired my capsual and she was in it till 6 months (she would have been around 7-8 kg's) could have returned it earlier as she was almost to big for it and was bending the handles oops! lol
It really goes with the weight of your child as to when you need to upgrade (the info is normally on the side of the capsual)
You will get your deposit back for your hire, which i put towards the car seat.
The brand was safe and sound and it was pro fitted by the hire company for free :)
I have only just turned her around in her car seat at 13 months, as she needed the leg space, she's about 10 kg's i think (haven't had her weighed in a while)

hth :)

Yep I bought a capsule (as this was number one and we intend to have more) and found they are great for when they are tiny. I used the Fisher Price capsule and bought the Fisher Price stroller as the capsule clips into it. AWESOME! Capsule was $199 from Target and stroller was $136. DD is 3 months old and really starting to look around and can hold her head up so I will probably move to a car seat in another month or so. But if this is number 3 for you then hiring would be a cheaper option for you.

We bought a capsule and it's been unreal!!

This is it...http://www.sydneysbabykingdom.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=508&catid=2

My bub very rarely slept through the day as a new born so it was so handy to be able to unclip her and carry her inside if she did fall asleep in the car. I hated the idea of waking her up so the capsule was perfect!

We've still got her in it and she's just hit 8kg (almost 7 months). We don't unclip the actual capsule anymore because it's just to heavy now with bub in it, but we've got our moneys worth I think.

We'll be buying a standard convertable car seat that we can keep rear facing till she's about 12 months then we'll face it forward.

If you've got other kiddies then a capsule should be really handy for you

We bought a convertable car seat for DD. When I had it fitted we could hardly sit in the front seat there was no room left:cool:

So I hired a capsule thinking that it would be shorter. It was, maybe by 1cm:(
We used it for the six months, but this time I'm just sticking with the convertable.

I wasn't too impressed with the capsule to be honest.

I am returning the capsule next week as Sean has pretty much outgrown it. We hired one for 6mths through the QLD AMBOS with each child. I liked being able to move them if they were asleep without disturbing them.

I would highly recommnend getting one for the 1st 6mths then transferring them into a carseat.

I didn't use one with DD1 but so wished I had so we hired one with DD2. They are so convenient - if she was asleep I didn't have to wake her up to move her from the car seat to the pram and back, plus if she was asleep when we got home I just took the whole capsule out of the car and let her sleep.

We hired one for 6 months and then moved her into a rear-facing seat - didn't turn her around till she was 1. She still had DD1 to look at so entertainment wasn't a problem.

We didnt hire a capsule for DD#1 - she went straight into a convertible carseat until she went into the Maxirider at 21 months. She is now 24 months and around 11kg

I am due to have #2 in just over a week and we have hired a capsule as I think it will be easier to have bubs in a capsule and a toddler in tow......I have heard they do get heavy very quickly - but I think for the first couple of months it will be conveinant....

My sister purchased a Safe and Sound and used it for 6 months. I use that one for my baby (she was 7 lbs born).

I really liked it because at first I didnt' have a stroller, so I could just unclip it and carry it with me.

Also, when I was visiting friends, it was great for the same reason - just unclip and carry. In fact, ducking into the shops it was often easier to carry her in that than to unload the stroller etc..

I've used a capsule every time, they are GREAT! So easy when bubs has gone to sleep inthe car and you dont want to disturb, or when you're going toa friends who doesnt have anywhere appropriate to put baby down etc

Hiring is a good option but you could also buy a second hand one off ebay, or buya new one (for example fisher price capsule with is the same as safe and sound unity is on sale in target at the moment for $199) and then resell when you're finished and you'll get most of your money back :)

hey
I used a safe and sound unity capsule and it was the best thing I Brought my daughter was 9 pounds born and she was in it till around 6 months I could of used it longer but I couldnt life her any longer I also combined it with the profile stroller, I purchases the capsule second hand for around 100 and the stroller new and funnily enough I sold the capsule for more than I paid.
with the capsules I have seen recently the unity and fisher price capsule seems bigger as far as the new shaped capsules go.
hope that helps
