View Full Version : Urgent help to get bub to sleep......
I need help ladies, i am at my wits end. Bub is 10 weeks old and at night sleeps wrapped. She simply will not settle if she isnt wrapped. If she goes to sleep she will eye gauge herself and wake herself up. BUT it was 42 degrees here today and even with air con and ceiling fan on high its still 30 degrees inside. At the moment i have given in and wrapped her but she is hot and still wont settle.
Is there anyway I can contain the hands without overheating her??
have u got any light muslin wraps?
u could try some scratch mittens
my DD was hard to settle with the heat last night, lucky it cooled down later on. she normally sleeps in a grobag but last night was just singlet and nappy.

Did you get her off to sleep? I really hope you found something... my 9 month old DS still isn't properly sleeping in this heat now, been down 3 times since 6 and is still up :(

Does she need to have her arms in a certain position or just pinned in any way? If so, you could lay her on a light muslin wrap and then put each side around her arms and then tuck the muslin under her bum - i hope that explanation makes sense  that way her arms are wrapped to her side (albeit might not be that comfy) and then her belly still remains uncovered.
Putting a wet muslin wrap over the side of the cot and letting the fan blow through it is another idea.
Hot weather is tough, my DS who is 9 weeks old was all over the place with the warmer weather a couple of weeks ago. He came good as soon as it cooled down.
Good luck, hope it cools down soon for you
I used to still wrap my ds at that age, with just a nappy on underneath and using a thin muslin wrap - they aren't quite as firm as a wrap, but hopefully just enough. And then I had the aircon/fan on as well.

now that i think of it could you cut a piece of muslin wrap about 20cm wide and just wrap her arms?
yep we have used a light wrap, tried the mittens, but its the startle and hitting herself that wakes her. She seems a lot windier(nice word!!)than normal so i'm thinking that maybehas something to do with it. She hasnt pooed for a few days, which isnt unusual for her. but she seems to be uncomfortable. Dunno, fc she will settle soon.

that sounds like a good idea. i might head to spotlight tomorrow and give it a go. if it doesnt work its not a huge amount of money lost either. thanks heaps. hopefully now that it is starting to cool off with the night air she will settle.
