Doing some googling to research how to toddler safe DD’s room before I move her into her new bed I’ve come across these couple of products that I like the sound of – just don’t know where I can buy them...

1. A night light and electrical socket cover in one – it’s like a little light that sits directly on the socket so it doesn’t have any cords or anything and it also covers up the socket – anyone seen one of them anywhere?

2. A door bumper or similar to prevent her from getting her fingers caught in the door

Also have a few question regarding safe bedding for toddlers, DD will be 17 months when I move her to a bed, as far as I understand you shouldn’t give them a pillow until they are 2 – however at the moment she often scrunches up her blanket in her cot and uses it as a pillow – in a way this seems more unsafe then a small very flat pillow, so I was considering giving her one? Or shouldn’t I?

On the same note, is it also unsafe to leave her teddy bears in her room as she might bring one to her bed for a cuddle?

Any other tips on do’s and don’t as far as bedding goes? What sort of blankets etc are safest? Is a waterproof mattress protector OK to use? Anything else?

Pillow would be okay, teddies would be ok.

The night light.. Well honestly, I'd recommend you head off to Ikea or something and get one of those cordless ones that recharge via a wall charger.

Otherwise, you are looking at not just buying a plug-in night light but also getting a proper cover.. I don't remember where they're from but they certainly are nifty. :)

Door bumper is easy. You can get them from Kmart or something, its just a large foam chunk that hangs on the door.
You can DIY by going to Bunnings and getting a teensy bit of foam insulation piping and cutting down one edge and siding it on the side of the door.

:iagree: with regard to the pillow and teddies - DD's soft toys often take up more room in her bed than she does.

the door bumper things keep your eyes peeled in Big W and woolworths/safeway I have seen a 2 pack for heaps less than the ones you get in the baby section.
