View Full Version : Belmont Private
I am trying to find out information for a very good friend of mine who is suffering from PND.
Has anyone ever stayed at Belmont Private Hospital for the treatment of PND and what was your experience? Did you benefit? Were there lots of other mothers there to talk to about similiar problems? Who were you referred by? What was the cost and what services were offered? Are the mothers separated from other mental health patients?
If you don't feel comfortable posting here, please feel free to PM. Any advice/information will be greatfully received.

I had a family member attend Belmont - not for PND but similar and they were great - very supportive. She was able to claim a lot through her private health insurance. Good luck:hugs:
Easterlily - have sent you a pm.
Hope it helps.

I haven't been there- but I believe they are very good- they have a special section for PND- so they would have good health care providers. Also, my sister who is suffering from a mental illness- sort of associated with PND- has been seeing a psychiatrist (sp?) there and apparently she's been giving very good care.
Hope your friend finds the help that she needs- what a good friend you are for helping her!
Thank you Kadownie, Rose and mumofgrace for replying to my thread I really appreciate it:)
My friend is coping quite well with her baby now so she seems on track and is through the worst of it. I told her she is doing a great job and just believe in herself and follow her instincts and ignore all the silly advice. I think she is growing in confidence which is great.
I dont think she would be able to afford Belmont as I heard it was expensive but I didn't realise just how expensive it is although I believe it is great. My friend is going to join a PND support group which will be good as she should be able to make friends and get support from people in a similiar position.
Thanks again:)

I know someone that attended for PND and someone that attended for Depression etc.
Both speak very highly of the program and staff, and both made huge leaps in recovery as a result of their participation in the programs.

And just to add: it can be covered by private medical insurance. Speak to the hospital because they are fantastic at working out the solution to medica/insurance hiccoughs so that people can afford to attend.
I've been to Belmont Centre for PND for an assessment, if you have health insurance, you just pay the excess for your stay.
I was there for an assessment, they were very helpful, they phoned me three times after that to see how I was going and although I decided not to stay there they listened, helped me find what I needed and gave me some good strategies to help me out and the biggest thing was that they weren't pushy.
They have a day program you can do as well which is the same cost. A relative of mine was there for 1 week and was so pleased with it, they really helped her through the worst period of her PND.
I didn't see anyone for PND until my son was 17 weeks old and I really wish I'd spoken to someone sooner (as I knew by the time he was about 6 weeks that it wasn't right to be crying and hiding under the covers of my bed all the time) because I think I missed out on a lot of beautiful moments with my baby that i'll never get back.
I really hope it all works out for your friend.

Hi (I only just found this thread)
I have been a patient at Belmont PND Unit. I had 4 admissions totally 6 months from July 2004-August 2005. They are really lovely and supportive. Help you with the baby and really listen. If she is in there she is in a safe place. :yelclap:
