Drooling at 15 months old.

My 15 month old is still drooling. I have read that it may be a sign of poor mental strength. I have made an appointment to see a speech therapist this week and get my son evalutated. My son babbles all the sounds and says a few words. Has anyone else had this problem and what can be done to stop it?

Poor mental strength? :confused: Sorry that's rubbish! Have a look in his mouth as he is most likely teething. Has his 1st year molars come thru yet?

My DD is 16 months old and she still drools, and is fine! And my niece was still drooling when she was 3! She is almost 5, and there is nothing wrong with her either

Personally I would throw out that article that you read. ;)

I agree with myellabella..definitely throw out that book!!!
I mean sure if your worried about "poor mental health" then get it checked out..

My dd is 14 months and she drools because she's teething. Maybe check that first.
Drooling is normal..and im sure the doctor will tell you that as well!

Drooling can be a sign of poor muscle strength/ palate problems and other issues but it as it ages far older than this (and its usually combined with other things). At 15 months most only babble and like others have said it is probably just teeth. I think you will be wasting your money going to a speech therapist for this problem so early there is nothing she/he can do this early on :no:

My son is nearly 15months old and I have to change his shirt 2-3 times a day because of the drool. My eldest was a drooler as a baby and he is now 2.5 and still drools with teething.

It is perfectly normal
