Blocked tear duct

Has anyone had a child with a blocked tear duct that needed to be 'probed'?

My DS2 eye became sticky when he was only 6 days old and has not improved at all, he is now 9 months old. The doctor has given a referral to have it looked at.

What does it involve, is it painful?

But I'm interested inteh answer as my dd2 is 5 months old and has had a sticky eye since birth.

my DD had sticky eye ever since she was born - we spoke to the paed about it in the hospital & he said that it can take up to 12 months for it to rectify, so not to be concerned about it.

Thankfully it DID clear up about 3 weeks before DD turned 1.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it & maybe see if you can wait another couple of months to see if it will clear up naturally.
