View Full Version : Weekday Wedding?
I think it'd be doable, but you'd need to give a lot of notice so people can organise time off work.. You may lose some people that won't or can't take a day off, so I guess you need to decide if that's ok with you, or if you really want everyone to be able to attend.
You may save a bit of money having it on a weekday too.

I attended a weekday wedding (friday) everyone loved it - an excuse for a long weekend
My brother had a Friday wedding last year.
I hadn't heard of it before, but apparently it's becoming a commonly done thing to save $.
It was a great wedding and no shortage of guests, I think there was about 250!

last year we had one of those years that everyone just seemed to be getting married. we had 10...YES 10 weddings to attend and i think there was one that was on a Saturday and all the others were on Fridays.
it very much is becoming the done thing, one of the reasons is becuase it is cheaper ;)
My sister had a Friday wedding and it was great. Saved them HEAPS of money!!

I haven't been to one, but I know people who have. You might find its alot cheaper some places to get married during the week.

I've just been to 2 Friday weddings over the Christmas period. Most people were on holidays so not much of an issue;)

I went to 3 friday weddings last year, very common these days. I don't work on fridays anyway but I guess you run the risk of some people not being able to come or some people missing out on a days wages so they can come, but I think that's in the minority.
We got married on a Friday, everyone loved the fact that they had an excuse to take a day off work!! We had nearly all our guest list turn up!

im thinking of having a wk day wedding, also we are thinking of having a breakfast wedding too that may be a cheaper option too
My brother and his fiance have chosen a Friday in April for their wedding. It certainly is becoming more common. Just give people plenty of notice.

Friday weddings- fine. Easier to book people ususally as they dont' fill up as quickly as sat weddings. We did sunday- BIG mistake- was my MIL's stupid idea as she didn't like the idea of a friday wedding as people had to take a day off work ( because people just HATE that:rolleyes:) and sunday sucked as everybody had to leave early to go to work next day! Go for the friday one.:)
I am getting married on a Thursday in October, it will be our 5 year anniversary. We are saving about 50% which is an added bonus. Because the ceremony and reception are at the same place it will start at about 6pm so most people can still go to work if they really want to. I figure if people care about us then they will make an effort to come, no matter what day it is, if they dont then I dont want them there anyway. It is also easier to organise everything else like cars, celebrants and make-up because they are not likely to be booked up too far in advance. I'm super excited and I would be no matter what day of the week it falls on.

i have heard of them, i think a friday wouldnt be too bad as its sort of end of the week and if you give people plenty of notice im sure they would be able to get the friday off work:)

i also agree with a PP, having it in the school holidays or something more people would be able to attend possibly? as long as you gave them enough notice to they dont go away on holiday:laughing:

I think Friday weddings can work really well as long as you give people plenty of time. Especially if it's a 3pm wedding say, and then people can still work a half day if they need to.
Have you asked about public holiday days ? I have had a friend get married on a Sunday, but the Monday was a public holiday so it worked out really well.

Very bizarre - I just got a date saver last week for a friday wedding in April.
