when you type in your name in a search engine alot of foreign websites come up. not sure which language it is though. is the name something from your heritage? or is it something your parents just came up with or something?

my parents are from melbourne and saw a restaurant /cafe with the same name (this was before they were even married, and four years before they had me). apparently the people who owned it named it after their grandaughter..........

no, my family have been here since first fleet, and before that were irish/scittish/english. so they have no excuse for naming me something so foreign.

good idea about the engine search...... might give that a go.

i know u may think its a burden to have such a rare name but i think its great. there are so many kristie/kristy/kristi/christi/christie/christy's out there its not funny. the only unusual thing about my name is there are less people spelling ti kristie but now thats not so uncommon now... i envy you.. :p

Your name has really taken a shine to me and i really want to find the meaning for you. I have just spent the last hour or so trying everything on the net to find ANYTHING relating to your name.

So far I have found.... well not much, enough to keep my search up though. The sites off google that sw33tn3ss found are in italian. So we know that much. I also found a website that had the name sunniva, which was the closest to your name. However, it had no meaning.... :(

I started looking for italian baby names and found millions of beautiful names in italian with the most wonderful meanings...I did find Cino, yet again with no meaning and after a translation no italian word was found. Still i kept searching...

I thought of a different approach, quite difficult but i managed. I logged onto a few italian chat rooms or IRC rooms to see If i could speak to someone in Italy who could translate it. I had a program, BabelFish which is an excellent translator for me!!! I knew a bit of italian so it wasn't soooo bad!

It went a little something like this.
"Hello, how are you, i come from Australia and need help" (ciao,Provengo dall'Australia e ho bisogno dell'aiuto.) it translated to "hello, I come from Australia and I have need of the aid." which was the best I could do. Now let me tell you, this was so confusing. I had all these italian people talking to a million miles a minute and I couldn't cut and paste so i had to write everything down and then copy that from my paper. :D I actually picked up a bit of italian

Wow... 4 hours later I have what they tell me is the right translation. Don't hold me to it though. Cinova means "dog", more so "puppy" I didnt believe the first guy so i kept asking and they all said this... So I think I may of found your answer... maybe not, but i sposr that gives you a bit more than you had before. I so wouldnt be impressed if it wasn't an italian word/name after all and the computer had me going for so long.

Hopefully this was helpful for you. I really don't know why I had to find that for you. Maybe it's just coz im preggers :D

Best of luck with your continued search

-Christie :D

i too suffered from obsessive compulsive with the internet when i was pregnant. found out about all kinds of things i didn't need to know. but i'm glad at least i gave you an excuse to learn another language
i have tried all sorts of searches to no avail (i don't have translator programs so was searching in english  ).

Hi

I was just reading this thread, and it intrigued me. So I started to search for the meaning of your name! (very addictive too I might add:laughing: ) I searched hundreds of sites, but came up with nothing.

However, I did find the site of a lady from Finland, who studies names, and their meanings and origins. She has even written thesises on the subject. So I have written to her, asking for her help. I figure she would be the best person to ask, and if anyone would be able to help your cause it would be her.

I will let you know when she responds. Til then I think the meaning of your name is going to plague me forever!!!!
