I was wondering which brand of bottle you all prefer?
A lot of people have told me to go with avent, so i think i might
But the problem is, none of my local stores stock the avent brand range... i have no idea why??
They only stock Nuk and Dymples, and the no name brands.
Should i bother going to another town to find the avent bottles or does anyone have good experiences with Nuk, Dymples, and no name brands??

try looking in a chemist. that is where i found mine. woolies and coles and the little foodstores don't seem to stock them.
Neither of my babies took to the avent ones. They couldn't seal properly and got horrible wind from them. I just use any standard bottle and teat now. The avent are so expensive.

I used Avent bottles with my first baby. I thought they were the best. Then I heard a report that Target bottles were excellent. I tried one and I have given all my avent bottles away and will only use Target. I wouldn't have thought somthing like baby bottles from Target would be any good. But they are reasonably priced and they are fantastic. I havn't had a problem with them and I steralise and boil them everyday. from me

DS loves Pur bottles - especially because the lid and base are purple or green and make the bottle look like a toy! :D (I'm just comp feeding at the moment, and DS needed a bit of convincing!)

Hi Sam,
Avent bottles and products are the goer  i loveeeeeee avent. If you're having problems getting your hands on them try ordering from a pharmacy online place..
Here's a cheap one i found. Prices are alot cheaper than most chemists and they send out the products within a few days - www.pharmacyonline.com.au

oh and Emysmum.. i was having the same problem with the whole not sealing thing and i found that it was because of cross threading. If it's cross threading it'll leak of course.

I bought my Avent bottles from Kmart so you might like to try there.
Maybe try BigW as well?? I picked up some today but i got them from Woolworths. Maybe even try a woolies in the next suburb as i find different suburbs stock differnt products. i bloody hate that :banghead:

I've found the Avent bottles to be a great investment. I used all my bottles with DD (almost 6 years ago) and am now using them with DS. I've just bought new teats & they are as good as new.
Big W definately stock the Avent stuff (here anyway) - they also stock the starter kits that are really reasonably priced and obviously a lot cheaper buy buying in bulk.

Apart from online chemists, the other option is to try Ebay - you can often even find brand new bottles & accessories there.

I got one pack of two avent bottles from coles the other day... it was the last packet there and it was a discontinued line lucky me!

What is cross threading?
I think my DS has issues with wind because of his type of bottle and teat....he's 8 months now though. Should i just encourage the sippy cup and not try the avent bottles?

Samanthajane,
I have used Avent with both bubs, had no probs.
there is another thread about nurser bottles, a new bottle that is really close to the breast. pricey though. you may want to check them out, and you may be able to bulk order whatever brand you do decide to go with online. Check ebay too, people often have new bottles for auction, although you can end up paying more than they are worth.:D

Hi
I have used Avent for the past 9 years for all my boys and swear by them. They are expensive but I am still using the bottles I bought 4 years ago and there is nothing wrong with them at all
Katie
It depends if you are planning to go straight to formula or to use the bottles for expressed milk. If it is the latter then the Pigeon Peristaltic nipple was recommended to me by the Lactation Consultant as it is more similar to breastfeeding - baby sucks the teat and it stretches out, like a nipple does when breastfeeding.
Reason is, you want one that's similar so it doesn't mess up their ability to suck etc.
