Hi all
was about to get on the net but you ladies are always so much better!!!

Alice is about to start 1 day per week daycare (i'm very sad in a way but it has to be done) and i have been told i have to name all her clothing and sheets etc.

I CAN'T even sew a button!!!!!!!!!

Is there some kind of iron-on fabric you can cut out, write the name on and iron onto the collar???? what do other people do? I remember my mum had special name tags made up especially fo rus and hand-sewed them all onto our clothes, but I want a quicker solution!!!

thanks in advance
Rachel!!!

There are two really easy options for naming clothing - one is that you can buy iron on tape that you can write on - Lincraft or Spotlight would be good places to find it, and then you use a fine tipped pen, also from those shops, which doesn't wash off. The second is that the pen you use to write on the labels also works on the labels which are already on the clothing etc, so you can write directly onto them. Check what your centre requires - you may be able to get away with initials, or Alice's first name and the initial of her surname - makes it quicker to write!

For labelling plastic things I use the net-ordered stuck on labels from www.stuckonyou.com.au and they may also do iron on labels for down the track when you have more time to order them.

Also, there is the Brother Dymo Electronic Name Labelling system. You can get iron on labels that go into this. It is a very easy system. You can buy these at Big W, K Mart or Target in the Stationery section for about $50. The refills are separate but you get a good deal out of them. We have the iron on labels and the general plastic name labels. You can get many other sorts like all weather labels etc too. It is excellent and quite cost effective too.

The "Stuck on You" labels that Theresa mentioned are also great. They are so bright and funky. We looked into those, but we ended up getting the Dymo. Not quite as funky a lables as the "Stuck on You" ones, but they do a great job at a great price. We went label mad in this house for a while :)

Hi Rachel
There's two places I like to buy labels made up with my DDs names and you can order online. Both companies are Australian based.

Younameitlabels.com, and I've put their vinyl labels through the microwave and the dishwasher and they hold up well. These labels are extremely cute.

Because I didn't really like fabric iron on labels (mine were coming off in the drier, maybe I didn't attach them well), I buy clothing labels from thatsmine.com.au (Brisbane based, so your orders arrive pretty quick). These are more like iron on transfers (not fabric) and they stay put really well. This company is run by women and I like the idea of supporting a local company run by mums a little like me.

It just depends on how much you'd like to spend.

Cheers
