I cosleep with my 4mth old daughter. This means that I often breastfeed whilst laying on my side. It seems that every early morning feed (around 1-2am) my daughter will really choke while feeding - it is really scary as it takes her a while to catch her breath. I believe it's due to the milk flow coming out too fast and she can't keep up. Last night I didn't want to risk it so came out to the lounge room in the freezing cold and fed her there - although she did still choke. I've tried feeding her at an angle etc but with no luck. Any suggestions?

It will probably settle down soon, however some people find it useful to express untill the letdown reflex has happened so the pump takes the full brunt of the milk ejection.

Not something thats going to make your life easier though. Do you only feed on one breast over night, if not this might make for less forceful letdown?

I dont know how old your baby is but your supply/letdown will settle down, hang in there.

that used to happen with us. i found feeding from 1 side worked well just had to buy extra absorbant breast pads for the other side.
Johnsons puple box are best! bit more expensive but you pay for quality and didnt need to change them during the night

Good luck with it all :fingerscrossed: and hopefully your supply will settle soon (although it took almost 12mths for this to happen to me  )
