Just putting out there an idea I heard about.

If someone was going to set up a business for mothers would you use it?
For example, a place that offers services (beauty therapist, masseuse, hairdresser), but also has a qualified person looking after your children while you are there - perhaps even with a cafe - for coffee and snacks, and even space for classes like yoga etc.

Are any of these something you would use, if it was flexible, reasonably priced and well located?

Does anyone know of a place like this that already exists?

Just wondered:detective:

Yep at Windsor in the Homemaker centre on Newmarket Road there is a place similar to what you are describing.. i can't remember exactly what they offer or what its called but it shouldn't be too hard to find out. I'm sure someone on here knows.

Ok i just found what i was talking about. It's called "MummaBubba Beauty Spa & Creche " it's in the Homezone centre at 142 Newmarket Road, Windsor.

http://www.mummabubba.com.au/CRECHE.htm

Thats the website

and phone number (07) 3861 1019.

I actually use to work in the Homezone centre a few years back and from memory there were a few kid friendly places. I remember the Cafe next to Video Ezy.. "Cafe
Mama". It had a little play pen inside and pretty sure there was a child friendly menu.

There's also a place called Breathing Space in Indooroopilly - a cafe with childminding. Would LOVE! to have this on the Eastside of Brissy.

There is a similar place but without a cafe in Paddington called "Yummy Mummy" or something along those lines.

:iagree: OMG yes.

I would use a service like this more often though if they could come to me.
One person to watch the kids, another to give me a nice massage. :cloud9:

I love this idea... there is nothing like this in Canberra. We have a few clubs with kid's play areas which the kids enjoy going to. We get a table right along side it, all eat dinner together and then the kids play while we sit back for a while. We also drive 2 1/2 hours at times (yes I know, everyone thinks we're crazy) to Wagga Wagga RSL club. On a Saturday night we have dinner together and then check the kids into the kids club where they have drawing, games, video games. We then chill out for a while. If there's a problem they page us. The kids love it, it's a great afternoon / night out and we all get to do something different.

Did you see the pricetag on their treatments though!

If it were that exxy I wouldn't go, I'd just get DS lots of snacks and toys and go to a regular place...or do babysitting deal with a friend..:o

Yep, for sure, Yummy Mummys has been my saviour when I have felt like I wasn't coping. And it would be even better if a place incorporated yoga classes etc or even a cafe I think I would use too.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Its funny that I posted this and then saw 'brisbane child' and saw an ad in the classifieds looking to employ people to start something like this up.
Will check out the website for the one at Windsor.

I think the key is that it needs to be in a good location (or have a mobile function of coming to people's homes), and that it needs to be affordable!!

Its funny you should mention that - a friend of mine has organised a 'day spa' day at her place this Thursday and I can't wait. Her friend a beauty therapist/ masseuse is coming over and doing treatments all day - while mums take turn look after each others kids, so the mum gets pampered. Plus the prices are super cheap, I can't wait :yelclap::smiliedance:

I love that cafe!! There website does have info about franchises, maybe you could open one up in the eastside of Brissie, I would love one on the southside!!

I know my wife would make use of this service if it was close to us. She was involved in giving baby massage classes and moms and babies classes.

As a business it is very challenging, so be sure you have done enough homework before you get started.

If you need any help on preparing a business plan, thoughts on marketing, website presence, drop me a mail.

I am a chartered accountant (South African qualified) and may be able to help out a little. (For free at the start, this was not supposed to be a plug for my services :) )
