i got asked the other day what i would reccomend for a baby shower gift. they wanted to get something useful not clothes etc... and the thing that came to mind was a good thermometer (ear one) because i used mine all the time and still do. anyway it got me thinking, what is the 1 thing you found most usefull/could not live without?:)

I absolutely loved my breast feeding pillow, they can be kinda expensive....
Also a room thermometer, someone gave us a grobag egg and we have used that everyday.

sleep

id say a night light. i had DD in my room untill recently and my night light was my favourite thing. i could check on her without waking her up, and made breastfeeding easier (i needed some light to stay awake but the normal one was to bright)

A hand b/f pump would have been good.
I also liked my b/f pillow.
A sling or a baby carrier (can't think of the proper name!) I had my DD in one often when she was a newborn to hang out washing etc.
I still do not own a thermometer.
A nappy bag but only if you know the person well & are sure they don't have one already.

I'd have to say a baby monitor even if bubs isn't in their own room they will be soon enough and you get a good 2 maybe 3 years use out of it. Very handy when you have a party or people over with a bit of noise and you wouldn't hear baby crying.
AND most important your mum, they know everything!!!

Boobs and a sling. Strap baby on in the morning and then could actually get things done during the day because he could just feed in the sling.

The most useful thing for me both times was the baby swing. it was fantastic and they loved being in it. i was able to get some rest and things done both times

Can I say 3?
-A sling/ baby carrier
-A manual breast pump
-An ABA membership

Obviously the 2nd and 3rd are more appropriate if planning to BF!

Adding a 4th- A nappy bag insert- The "Pouch Miss" is really good cos you can transfer it between larger regular bags!

A baby bath seat, i found once i started using the bath seat he would kick and splash alot more and have more fun. Water goes everywhere but watching them have a ball is priceless. And it also gives you two free hands.

I also use the bath thermometer alot too.

A baby carrier - I had a sling style and wrap style and both were invaluable.

Terry nappies - spew, spew and more spew.

Decent sized wraps
