Hi,

I have left DS with his Nanny (Grandma) a few times while I have had to go out and do things....but lately it seems he wants to know I am near a lot (could be from teething or a number or reasons), I don't mind I love the cuddles.

Anyway, I have to go out when he will be asleep in his cot...sometimes he calls out for his dummy and a cuddle but I won't be there his Nanny will be. I don't want him to feel frightenend that Mummy isn't there for him that's all.

Has anyone else had to go out and leave bubs with others whilst they are in bed, how did they go?

Matthew was going through a real bad stage a few months ago. He was a total cling-on.....me only, no one else. I had to leave him home with his dad while he was sleeping a few times while I went to pick the kids up from school. When I got back he was in his room crying really bad. I asked DH what was going on and he told me that Matthew had woken up, seen I wasn't home and started crying. Nothing would make him stop and he eventually went and put himself back to bed.

I felt so bad that he was crying for his mum and I wasn't there when he woke up. But there wasn't anything I could do about it really. It was a stage he was going through where he wanted to be with me 24/7. I couldn't shower without him standing outside the shower crying, couldn't pee, couldn't do nothing without him crying. It only lasted a few weeks, thankfully. But after the above happening twice, I used to just wake him up and take him with me if DH was working, or I'd send DH to get the kids.

I hope things get better for your little man.

mine cries for a bit then he realises i'm not going to come running like usual, and settles dwon to play with whoever is around. i'm sure that your DS will be fine as he has a familiar face there with his grandma.

you will probably be more worried than he will

I couldn't leave my daughter at all for the first couple of months ... she was a clinger. though i did try a couple of times (for sanity) if she woke and i wasn't there she would just scream and one time (i was out in a friends car so couldn't race straight home) she cried for 2.5 hours solid. i walked in, picked her up and sh instamntly fell asleep. and that was leaving her with her DAD. it did get better but i was reluctant to leave her with anyone but my mum and dad and now i have a 2.5 yr old who is scared witless of baby sitters. makes for a great time when mum and dad are away!!

I had to leave EJ while she was asleep while i went to hospital one night for about 4-5 hours my BF came over and kept an eye on her, Ever since then shes been really clingy i think it may be cause she woke up and found i wasnt there? Shes slept really bad since then also.
