View Full Version : Pop in feeds
I need some advice....
I'm returning to work next month :barf:and want to continue breast feeding my 5 month old baby. I work across the road from where he will be attending day care and have thought about doing some pop in feeds (I can get two half hour breaks). Has anyone done this before? I'm worried about my little man finding it stressful having me appear and then disappear throughout the day......
Any advice would be great.

I'm interested too! I'll have a daycare centre in our building and am wondered if it is better to try and feed my girl during the day or better to just leave her totally?

At 5mths you should be fine to do pop in feeds, I did it while I worked in child care when DS1 was little (we were in different rooms though he never saw me between feeds). Good luck :)

Hi i worked in a childcare centre that mainly looked after drs and nurses children and we were situated just across the road from the hospital... most parents would come over and feed their bubs once or twice throughout the day! Most of the babies adjusted quickly to this routine and it was nice for both mum and bub to spend that little bit of extra time together!

I worked 5mins drive away, but found it too hard as saying 'goodbye' he wanted me... i ended up expressing at work instead for about a month
it ended in a nervous breakdown for me unfortunately! I was so sad to have to quit - it was just too hard on me...and was SO emotional - i was devastated. He was 6mths at the time.
Am better now but it has taken us a long time.
My advice - if in 1 week it isn't working, go to bottles and feed in morning and nite. Dont push yourself to the point of breakdown (like me!)
Thanks for the advice. I find expressing difficult during the day when I am not very full and think expressing would be more stressful and time consuming than running across the road to feed.
It's saying goodbye that will be hard (I know where your coming from greengables)
