Recommend me a waterproof cover!

Hi Ladies,

I am due in May and need help! I only converted DD to cloth when she was about 1 so I don't have anything for the first few months. My peapods will be fine once bub is about 6 months and I have bought one box of disposable for the first couple of wks - I will most likely need another caesar so I don't want to have to worry about nappy washing for the 1st few wks.

So as its only for a few months, I am thinking of buying some fitted cloth ones on ebay, but they need a cover. I have looked into some but they are so expensive. I don't mind forking out for MCN's but not when I know they will only get a few months use.

So when you say that you will only be using them for a few months, what do you mean? You will start using MCN's after you have recovered so from a month old? Sorry your post was a little confusing and I am tired (with all my blood going to my placenta ;) ).

If you are thinking about getting some fitteds then why not look at getting some OSFA instead of sized ones? That would mean that you are just adding to your stash that your DD can also use. In regards to covers I wouldn't go past the BBH covers. They are sized but makes for keeping the mess inside. LOL You could get away with only getting 3-4. I would be a bit wary of getting stuff off ebay without knowing the quality of the product you are getting. Also be sure to look at the different types of material, so you are aware of the expected absorbancy etc. Good luck with it.

the baby beehinds pul covers are to stiff and crunchy imo

i LOVE the thirsties covers!
plus they have a gusset which is great for newborn pooplosions

I am only using them from about 3 wks to 6 months, so I was thinking this was the best option, price wise. I love MCN's but if its cheaper to just do sposies until bubba 2 can fit into my existing stash I will do that - we are on quite a tight budget this time round!

I don't know....I was thinking ebay mcns might be okay if I was only using them for a few months?? Maybe I should go for prefolds, how long to they wear them for? Or maybe I should just use terry flats? Do they dry more quickly than pockets? I don't have a tumble dryer so AIO's are out!

Sorry for the ranting, I am just having so much trouble figuring this out!

If you don't mind the folding with the flat then they would be the cheapest, and you can add some inserts to make them more absorbent. The next cheapest option would definitely be the prefolds and you can use them to stuff the pockets later also. I just figure anything is better than disposables but then my kids react to the chemicals.
