View Full Version : What is it with Change Tables...?

...and why are they all so SHORT???

I've been musing about this recently. Little Miss 2 is still in nappies, and doesn't really look like getting out of them all that soon, she's not a big kid particularly (almost exactly average, in fact) and I can only just squeeze her on to the changetable so her butt and her head are on at the same time.

And yet...

At mealtimes, on the other hand, there's the highchair issue. She started sitting in it for meals at 6mos - she was absolutely SWIMMING in it, it was HUGE. It's got five size settings, and she never got off the smallest one before she decided it was time to sit on a tall stool instead, when she was about 1 1/2. Recently, the highchair came out again for dd2, and she had another go in it, and she STILL fits into the smallest setting! The thing's enourmous - I reckon I know a couple of adult women who could probably fit into it (admittedly, particularly tiny adult women, but still!)

So - what gives? Do they think our kids double in size when we sit 'em down to eat, and then magically shrink when it's stinky-bum time? Or are my family just freaks? ;)

I suppose its the size of the highchair. The one I have is great, just right has no size settings and has done a good job for both my kids! The one my mum bought though is big! I do find its huge for my 18mo, and its on the smallest size still!

On the change table I dont use one, never have! Always changed the boys on the floor or bed.

OMG, doesn't your DD put weight on when she eats and then looses it when she poops like all normal kids?!?!

I don't know, my DD is only 11 months - and she nearly doesn't fit on her change table anymore either.

I don't know what women you're referring to, but I certainly couldn't fit my ginormous *** into a highchair! Or maybe I could, but I'd never get out again!

I've been wondering the same thing about change tables.DD wriggles around enough as it is,and changing her on the bed or floor is an absolute nightmare!
I have no idea what I am going to do when she outgrows it,which isn't far off.

I know what you mean about the change table.
We had to stop using it when she was about one...IF you could squeeze her on there you had a heart attack the whole time because she only had to move an inch either way and she would have fallen off
Annoying because it was really handy and we liked using it. Now we just change her on the floor.
