hey ladies just wondering if any one can tell me a bit more about wat happens if you want to do a tafe course at home, like wat centerlink does to help out etc...i have a 13 month old and my DP is a tradey (wall and floor tiler) so his pay's are up and down all the time... do you know if there's a set rate you can claim when partnered and studdying or would i still have to report DP's earnings all the time?
just wondering as it is way to hard if i have to report DP's earnings...because he might earn 2000 one fortnight and nothing after that for three weeks so any info you can give would be so helpfull...:D

hope to hear from you all soon

I see you posted this last month so if its too late....

I'm pretty sure it depends what the tafe course is considered as, like full-time or part-time study and how old you are.

For example, I was studying full-time at uni (until last wk) and working casually, and got a set rate of $290 per fortnight (youth allowance) which fluctuate depending on my earnings. But my DH was only earning a random couple of hundred per fortnight plus his youth allowance. He had to declare his earnings but it only affects what YOU get paid by centrelink if its over a certain amount. So if your DP earnt $2000 one fortnight YOUR pay would definitely drop, but then if he didn't earn anything next fornight (or way less than $2000) it would stay the same (and if he earnt something like a few hundred it would only be slightly affected).

But as of last week I am now studying part-time so don't qualify for youth allowance so I have had to go onto 'looking for work' allowance (which is exactly the same rate) but I'm expected to do 10 job searches for a full-time job per fortnight (and report these to centrelink) plus I have to attend job network appointments etc. And if I get offered a full-time job (recently quit my casual job...) I have to take it and somehow fit this in with my study  ....plus my payments would drop depending on what I earnt...

Sooooo after all that :ecomcity: you'll most likely only get study support if you're considered full-time and you'll def have to declare DP's earnings.....BUT you have diff circumstances to me so I would give centrelink a call, tell them the course you're looking at doing and whether they will assist you.
