Are you married, partnered or single?

Married ten years this year!

What sort of birth did you have?

DD1 came a few days early, induced after a major bleed. 3hr labour that was incredibly intense physically, but very empowering emotionally.

DD2 was 4 weeks early, an emergency c-s due to being breech and my history of very rapid deliveries. My only quibble was the fuzziness of the first days due to the drugs, and Sofia needing to be away from her mummy in a humidicrib for temp control reasons.

Preferred parenting style?

Consider everything, and see how it holds up after being examined through the lens of practicality, my laidback nature, Nick's perfection issues, and our girls individual personalities.

Do you have brothers and sisters?

One younger brother. He's about to become a Dad!

Have you ever met a famous person?

Many of them. I was a TV and music writer for a Sunday newspaper several decades ago. Most thrilling? Axl Rose. :D

What countries have you visited?

Most of South America, USA, much of Europe, some of Asia, some of the Middle East. My various jobs have involved a lot of travel, and before kids, it was the primary thing we did for fun, too.

What do you do on Sundays?

Play with the girls while Nick's out riding, then we try to go out and do something as a family, even if its just a walk. And on Sunday afternoon I usually try to do a yoga class while Nick takes over the dinnertime routine.

What kind of people do you not like?

People who can't see beyond stereotypes. People who have no interest in learning new things.

Who has had the most influence in your life?

Me! My parents provided a strong sense of self worth and sent me out into the world with the belief that to be an adult is to be an independent, self-reliant individual. I took it from there.

Would you like to be famous?

No. There's peace in obscurity. I don't fancy a bubble.

How many different towns or cities have you lived in?

Darwin, Millaa Millaa, Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland, London, Leiden, Melbourne.

Which do you prefer, sunrises or sunsets?

Sunrises are a gorgeous concept but I don't like being awake to see them. Sunsets!

What was the last book you read?

Finished "Three Little Secrets" by Liz Carlyle this evening.

What's your favorite food?

Roast lamb, roast vegetables, mint sauce.

Do you live in a house or an apartment/flat or other?

A house.

How tall are you?

163cm

What are your hobbies?

I write fanfiction and original fiction, and I tend to research any passing intellectual fixation. I want to learn something with my hands though, and am thinking of doing a mosaics course.

What's something you do well?

Communicate. Create grand plans and sweeping visions.

Which sports do you like to watch/play?

Cycling. I cycle for pleasure but love to watch the pro Tours on TV. I have enjoyed both squash and tennis in the past, but generally can't be bothered watching most (any!) sports on TV. Sport is something you do, not watch. (Except cycling ... because you get pretty scenery then!)

Are you a 'morning' or 'night' person?

I am at my most creative in the morning, but need two cups of coffee to get me there. Used to be a night person, but since kids ... too tired!

What is your motto?

No risk, no reward.
