sorry bout late reply.....
i think that it would, as it is a mild caustic agent. but i don't really know for sure.
but bottom line, without a full chemical or steam clean, there isn't a commercially available carpet cleaner that will be totally effective as an anti-bacterial agent.
unless bub is severely allergic to dust mites or your pets or just ordinary everyday stuff, then there isn't too much reason to panic over germs in carpet.
don't stress too much about stuff like that, as long as you vacuum regularly, then bub will be fine. if you're really worried, have you though about getting one of those industrial type steam/water/dryclean vac thingys?? not sure what they're called or where to get one............

Godfrey's sells vacuums like that. Your looking at nearly $1000 or more though.

I am getting one of these vacuum like that next week, by vax called a v12, they retail for around $500. It does vacuuming and cleaning and you buy all the carpet treatments to put in the vacuum and all the treatment are between $7-$10. I used to get chemdry to do my carpets for antiallergy and dust might protection and it only costs me $150 for 6 rooms. And the carpets are always so clean and fresh afterwards. It's definately worth the investment, my son is really sensitive to dust and I have noticed in him the difference, since getting the carpets done every 6 months.
