Thought I would kick off the new year with a new thread and maybe a bit of a roll call!! Who is still with us??

Our birth group has become a bit smaller over the past 2 months- not many people around- so I thought I would start a new thread to ring in 2009 and do a bit of a rollcall- Re-introduce yourself with bubs name and birthdate!
Me- 3Divas&me
Baby Girl- Phoebe Maeve
Born- 13th March 2008
She is still not crawling and still barely eating solids. She does not sleep through the night- usually wakes 3 times a night still:hair:
Hi Girls
Baby Girl: Taylor
Born: 14 March 2008
Taylor is crawling all over the place now, and pulling up to stand on everything she can. We have put the coffee table in the garage to avoid too many more bruises!
She copies many words, like today our friend was over saying 'yuk' when she kept putting the mobile phone in her mouth. Well, that was the word of the day and i'm sure we'll hear it all day tomorrow.
She eats a LOT of food, anything we give her. I'm certain she has a problem! She will be half asleep being carried into her room with a biscuit clutched in her little hands lol. She mainly eats veg, fruit, yogourt, baby rice and custard, then for finger foods and snacks we do grated apple, grated cheese, toast, rice cakes with philly or ricotta cheese, the occasional scotch finger, and water. As well as boob 3 times a day.
We had a nice quiet xmas (we don't have family living near us) so just really have kept to ourselves and enjoyed time together. We swim with her in the pool everyday and she loves it. She'll even go in the beach water, which I thought would scare her.
Hope to hear how all the other bubs are doing.
xx
Hello! I was just thinking how the bubhubbing as really slowed down - sad cos it was so good to post on here and read others posts. But I'm still here!
So: Baby girl Alexi Rose
Born: March 23 2008 (Easter Sunday)
Alexi is crawling everywhere and causing mischief, she's also pulling up on everything to a standing position, and walks when being held onto. She's dancing too and says a few real words, plus a few made up ones. She says 'ohhh!' a lot in a tone that reminds me of bill and ted and doped up surfers! Funny!
She also eats heaps. She has to eat whenever I'm eating and she eats so fast - I think because she's worked out that if she finishes one thing while I'm still eating I might give her something else. I'm giving her boob 2-3 times a day depending on the day, and she's mostly sleeping through the night except the past few nights cos she's been sick.
I hope we get some more movement on this new thread!

Great idea for the new thread :yelclap:
Me - rubyrags
Baby - Emma
Born - 20th March (Thu before Easter)
Emma is crawling and pulling herself to stand up, she cant really move along yet when she is standing. Emma goes to child care on a Mon and Fri and that has been great for her interactions with kids and adults.
She makes sort of words and laughs a lot she is a vey happy baby. We have 2 little dogs who she loves (Ruby and Rags). Emma eats anything and gets cranky first thing in the morning if she has to wait for her bottle, once she has had it she transforms back to the happy little baby.
She has had 2 holidays one to Syd and one to Thailand she now has stamps in her passport...
And yes when I think back to this time last year I was big and pg and now how things have changed

Wow look at all your clever crawling babies:yelclap: Poor Phoebe fooze ball (knickname)just aint there yet.
She scoots around on her back quite quickly- its a bit funny.
So had a really bad day with her yesterday, teething- nonoe of the other two ever really teethed that badly- may have got a bit grizzly but were ok. Yesterday Phoebe could not feed- I would try to put the boob in her mouth and she would go to suck then pull back and scream- she was so grizzly and unhappy- was really sad. Finally last night I thought to put the bonjela on then stick the boobie straight inthe mouth and finally she fed- it was just so horrible- she screamed forabout 2 hours straight yesterday arvo- but i gave her panadol, teething tablets and bonjela last night before bedand she finally went to sleep.
A bit disappointed this morning hat the teeth have gone down- it is her top two teeth- you could nearly see them poking throught the gum!
Anyways better go get ready for the day.
Hello Hello!!
great idea for new thread!
Me ~ sara86
Bubby ~ Grace Lily
Born ~ 31st March 2008
> Crawling everywhere very fast!
> Pulling herself up on everything, walks along furniture or when her hands are held.
> Eats pretty good most of the time, but goes through stages of being not interested for a few days here and there.
> Usually has 4 bottles a day.
> She has 7 teeth.
> Sleeps through the night, from around 8.30pm to 4am(ish) in her cot, then she wakes and i put her in bed with me (just cos i like it haha!). Then we usually get up around 7am.
> She is a bit of a catnapper, her day sleeps are usually only 30-60mins. she doesnt really have a routine with her day sleeps, just whenever she is tired.
> She goes to daycare one day a week.
> I have recently had to start baby-proofing the house as she has just discovered the kitchen cupboards, drawers, dishwasher etc. so ive put latches on most of the kitchen.
> She says - mum, bubba, hello, bye.
> She can wave, clap hands, play peekaboo by herself (puts a shirt/cloth etc over her face and takes it off and smiles big, then repeats that over and over)
> She LOVES anything electronic, like phones, remotes, laptops etc.
> She does a poo at the same time every morning, just after her morning bottle. which is great cos once shes done it its pretty safe to assume there wont be another one for 24hours! so i can go out not having to worry about her doing a poo as soon as we leave the house haha!
Cant think of anything else right now...
hope everyone is well
:)
Ha ha Sara now you mention it Alexi does a poo the same time every morning too!! And yes like you , you can then pretty much assume poos are done for the day! And if she doesn't do it she's likely to be a bit grumpy.
3Divas Alexi's tooth is causing her problems too. I can see her top side one (the eye tooth) soooo close to coming through - it's been like that for weeks. The other side one came through 2 days before christmas and we thought this one wasn't far behind but it's just been hovering there and causing her problems. She had a fever the other day which I don't know was caused by teeth or a flu, cos dh got sick with a flu thing and fever the other day too.
Talking about babyproofing I need to do that too. At the moment we're having most issues with the dog bowl, kitchen bin (ewww!), oven and coffee table, and any remotes that might be on it. So hard to keep her away from them. Oh and dog toys. Yuck.
Yesterday she freaked me out. I was in the kitchen with her and then turned around to see her standing, holding on with only one hand to the oven. Scary. I like that she's moving but it also freaks me out sometimes. Where has my little baby gone?
And oh yes, to think back to this time last year - soooo hot and sooo big and soooo pregnant! Aahhhh!!! No one on bubhub is pregnant again yet are they?

Lala not sure of anyone in this thread who have gone back for another already- on my other birth group for dd2 there was quite a few of us who fell pg before our babies were even 9 months old!!!
Phoebe is getting better with her crawling movements- not there yet but was trying so hard last night to get up on her knees- she will get there- she scoots about in the walker though and gets into everything!!!

hey guys! thought I'd pop back in again and see how everyone is going! I miss you guys, but it's great to hear how all the bubs (and mums) are coming along - ever closer to birthday #1!
baby: Archie
born: 11 March
lala - I remember sweltering last year! It's been very cool here so far this summer (what summer?!)... kind of wish I was preg now and making the most of it lol.
Arch doesn't sleep thru but is doing better than a month or so ago. Was still feeding 7 + times/24 hr and it was pretty tiring... Now he just eats a lot of solids and has 4 bf a day (sometimes 5)
Arch is crawling really well and cruises around on furniture. He stands briefly but I don't think he'll be walking anytime soon (well not in the next few weeks)
He waves and claps (sometimes) and plays peek a boo which is very cute. Only says mum mum and dada, has 4ish teeth and is very cheeky! Arch loves the xbox and when you tell him 'no' gives you a toothy grin and goes straight for it! ARGH!!! :hair:
but he's very cute :D
I was just wondering what you guys are doing with breastfeeding. I'm only bfeeding 2-4 times a day (2 definitely, sometimes 3 and very occasionally 4) but I don't want to be breastfeeding past a year. Not sure whether I should start introducing formula, or just hang out and wait until 12 months when I can intro cows milk and skip formula all together?? If I were to stop breastfeeding now though I'd have to give her some kind of replacement like formula though wouldn't I??
Hi Lala:) I am usure what to do also, but figure Taylor will lead me in the right direction ;) She is already stuffing around on the day feed, which I figure she can give or take, but still loves the morning and night. I think thats more habbit though. The morning will be easy to distract her but night will be harder. I'd like to stop feeds at 12 months but if she doesn't want to then i'll continue. I don't want to bother with formula so will start giving her plain milk at 12 months.
My little food sheet says 'give nut spreads at 10 months but beware allergies'. What the? I didn't know there was anything but peanut butter? When can I give her that? Do I need to test her first? And how? diva I know you know the answer having 3!
3Divas&me

Lala- I am still b/fing consatntly- it is phoebe's main source of nutrition as the little bugger still wont eat very much:hair: I have introduced the bottle of formula as I would like to stop by 12 months- but it is not looking likely- she will normally only have 40 mls of that before she is over it! I think do what you are comfortable with- formula is not bad- it is very close these days nutritionally to breastmilk.
Chippy- I think with nut allergies being on the rise it is something you have to be aware of but not afraid of- recent studies have shown that maybe allergies are related to food avoidanc3e- like not trying the nut products for many years and the body building up an intollerance. If there is a history of nut allergies in your family, then I wuld urge caution but otherwise give it a go- Everytime I have tried peanut butter with my 3- and Phoebe had it for the first time about 3 months ago- my mum is present who is a peadiatric nurse- and we have had a joke that if they react she can perform CPR til the ambo arrives- but that is just a little joke between mum and I- not serious as I was not too worried about trying the peanut butter. There are skin tests you can get done aswell at the Dr if youare really concerned- people are really worried about nots but other foods like fish, shellfish, berries, eggs, milk etc are foods that many people can be allergic to- Sorry will stop :ecomcity: I am a food tech teacher- so feel like I am giving you a lecture:laughing:
Going away today- back up to Newcastle for the week- just me and the 3 girls- so better go get packed- hopefully will be able to get on over the week and say hi.
Hi happy new year!!
Shan
Korben Tyler 19th Mrach
Korben can crawl and is standing up on furinture. He can say mum, dad, Ta and tata (waves). He enjoys his soilds but it has taken a while to get to the point we are now with his eating patterns. He sleeps all through the night and has 2 sleeps throughout the day.
I am trying to wean him of the breast so he is down to a morning feed and night feed with forumla in between. He didn't like it at first but will have it now. I'm heading to the tennnis in Melb soon so i needed him to adjust to the bottle ( i will express aswell).
I can't believe how fast they have grown up. Time is going to fast!!
Shan!
3Divas when did you stop breastfeeding your other two? I'm not sure what to do....like you said chippy i think the morning one would be easy to distract her from, but the night one would be harder. I don't know...maybe I should just stick it out for another 3 months and then just start trying to give her cows milk...but these bloody teeth of hers are starting to hurt! She doesn't necessarily bite, but sometimes she attaches in ways where I can just FEEL them on there and it's really uncomfortable. I think it's part of the reason I'm thinking of weaning...and selfishly cos I'm sick of the clothes I have to wear to breastfeed ha ha!!
Shan, they are definitely growing so fast. It's crazy.
Speaking of crazy - Alexi is going a little crazy in her cot after only a really short sleep....not happy about this!!!

Hey guys
again long time no talk!
im still around though, just been busy with the festive season
Shelley can crawl, stand but isnt walking on furniture. Says mum, bub, ta, waves, claps, plays beekaboo. She is eating well. Hates puree so has whatever we are having. She would eat all day if i gave it to her lol
She sleeps through most nights but then throws a spanner in the works...i think its mainly her teeth though, and her bout of tonsillitis. I love it when she sleeps through its more often then not now so im please as punch about that! I Was begining to think she was going to be a terrible sleeper! She usually only has one sleep during the day but its usually 2-3 hours...more often then not 3. Sometimes she has 2 sleeps and they will range from 1.5-2 hours each.
anyway i know i say it all the time but ill try and get back soon.
Oh im with the breastfeeding hurting too. Shelley bites down on me (especially when she is teething) im going to start weaning soon!

lala - you would replace her with some formula if you gave up breastfeeding - dont feel bad abou tit at all though. Formula is fine. And the first 6 months are the main months anyway but i formula fed my son from 3 months so i think either is just as good. Im going to start weaning Shelley on to cows milk around 11.5 months old. Just watered down. She hates formula. She will drink it if she has to but she isnt keen on it.. If your little one is eating good, lots of vegies, and a balanced diet...the amount of milk etc isnt really that great of thing. As long as they are getting everything from their food ...especially nearing 12 months is fine. (some will beg to differ though but its what i believe in and what i have been told by my doctor etc).
So keep up the good work and do what you think is best :)
3divas i cant believe pheobe still isnt eating - fussy little thing. Shelley is like her and isnt that fussed on formula. Well the bottle actually! she drinks great from a cup though. I guess you just have to keep offering and hope for the best I too want Shelley weaned by 12 months. And its scarily almost their first birthday! can you believe that!?
Chippy - as for nut spreads like peanut butter. They do say not to 12 months but it really depends on you. Is there any food allergys in your family? if so id be REALLY carefull. But if you really want to try her then just a tiny bit and wait to see if there is any reactions. Nut allergies should come on pretty quickly and can be harsh. I agree with 3 divas though. In this day and age i think everyone is afraid to give their kids something. I have one fussy child and i dont want another one so Shelley pretty much eats anything we do. Just be carefull the first time but if she takes it fine the first time and then the second time im pretty sure she will be fine.
ok i got back for some quick personals but shelley is awake so back to being mum :D
Theres heaps of photos on my websit of my 2 over the christmas break if you want a sticky
Oh Hayley your photos are gorgeous!
Gosh Korben looks so tiny compared to Shelley...
hayleylea
05-01-2009, 14:19
shan- Shelley is huge. she is chubby but she is also really long (cant tell you how long cause i havent had her measured for ages - but everyone comments on how tall she is!) She was 9pound12 so had a pretty good headstart in life!
She is such a bubbly chubby little girl though! :D
9lb 12  She is a cutie! Korben was 3.745kg but is tiny he looks like he is 6 months not 10 ha-ha. Very cute!
thanks for the info hayley.
Speaking of drinking from cups, I couldn't get Alexi to drink water from a sippy cup, so we tried a straw cup and it worked first time! It says you're not supposed to give them straw cups until 12 months but I'm not sure why, and at least this way she's getting water.
Alexi is big too. She's 10kg or so, and most people in the shops think she's already one. But a lot of her rolls are starting to disappear since she's been moving around a lot more.
3divas, that would definitely be frustrating with Phoebe still not taking food much.

Hi we are still here. Been reading the posts but not posting been really busy with work over christmas and now one of the girls have gone on holidays :hair: cant wait to get back to my normal shifts.
Karjarna is going great. She has 3 teeth 2 bottom and 1 top and another on the way. Everytime she gets a tooth she gets an ear infection though. Eats like food is going out of fashion and the only thing so far she doesnt like is kiwi fruit. Still on the boob for 3 to 4 feeds and one formula feed each day for day care. Am starting to wean her as of today :crying: she is getting really fussy on the boob and will only feed for a minute or so before she starts getting on and off and biting. She drew blood last nite. Also trying to get pregnant again and my chinese doc said it may help considering all the trouble we had last time. She is crawling like a baby now instead of a army crawl and is pulling herself up on everything and walking pushing the foot stool. She says bub mum dad and yum yum. Doesnt talk a lot though. she can say them just doesnt. Not sure to be concerened going to talk to the CN about it on fri.
Still sleeps all night most nights normally from 9pm till 8am. Only wakes if she is teething or sick or cold
Will hopefully be back soon gotta go feed bub. Tuna morney tonight

lala Karjarna will drink her milk from a sippy cup but will only drink water through a straw. Go figure

straw cups are great my eldest was drinking from one at 4.5 months, Shelley lovesthem too! she loves any cup shecan get her hands on, even the sports pop top drink bottles lol.
Shelley flat out refuses the supermarket baby foods, i do 90% of herfood but got some for when we are out etc, NO luck with any of the meat ones, so i got the heinz littl kidsonesand she loves them they say from 1+ but i figure she eats everything we eat anyway so im sure she can handle them.
Shan - yep 9 pound12 and they sent me for an ultra sound the week before because they thought she was going to be small! ummm i dont think so!
Thanks for the information on nuts diva and everyone, and no it didn't sound like a lecture:) We don't have any allergies in the family but I might wait just 2 more months for peanut butter and honey. I think she must get sick of the same toast everyday but she eats it all so probably not.
Diva what happens if you don't give her boob and distract her (maybe for an hour)? Do you think she will eat more solids if she's hungry? Thats if you want her to get off the boob! Otherwise she sounds pretty healthy and happy to me. It must be draining on you though.
Lala I thought a sippy cup WAS a straw cup (silly me), afterall you sip from a straw right? So Taylor has been using one since she was 6 months. She won't have a bar of those spout ones. I think whatever works is fine. All my books keep saying they should be able to drink from a cup and offer it to them all day. I can't be stuffed :D sitting there all day holding it when she can grab her own. If I forget her water when we are out she just drinks out of my mt franklin water bottle so thats good enough for me.
I still make her all her food but she now has a lot of what we do. Its such a relief, like yesterday at a bbq we didn't think we'd stay so long and didn't take her dinner with us. So she chowed down on a roll with a sausage (I held it for her and peeled the skin), a few water crackers, and ski yogourt from their fridge. She loves rice cakes with sweet chilly philly LOL but grated apple is her favourite. It gives me time out for at least 35 minutes while she picks up every individual apple grate to eat. Then when her plate it empty she starts eating all the fallen bits on her chest and seat haha.
chippy that is such a funny image of Taylor eating the fallen bits on her chest and seat....know exactly what you mean though ha ha!

yeah i can 3rd that.Shelley is exactly the same lol. Plus she steals food off her brother ALL the time. Yesterday Cooper was eating a super dooper ice block. And he comes back in the kitchen and says Mum i need another ice block. I said i only just gave you one and he said yeah but Shelley took it! I walk out and heres Shelley devouring this ice block! it must have felt good on her swollen gums (she has 6 teeth with number 7 ALMOST here) I didnt have the heart to take it off her lol.
how cute hayley! That's so good he was so nice about his sister stealing his food too!
Alexi's 6th tooth FINALLY came through this morning/overnight. It's been giving us grief for ages it seems but the cheeky thing has finally broken through!
:yelclap: for Alexi!! some teeth are such stubborn little buggers arent they!
Wow its SOO hot here today! the forcast was 35degrees for today, and im pretty sure it would be atleast that! and there is no breeze either, sometimes if its really hot but with a nice cool breeze its quite nice.
Well grace is at daycare and with her daddy today, so i have started packing our bags. me and grace are going on a little holiday to sydney, we are staying with my great aunty & uncle and their 2 kids (their kids are 22yrs & 24yrs), so not "kids" as such!
So i have a 5+ hours train trip with grace! so hopefully that will be ok. i dont know if anyone has been on the XPT before but 1st class is little enclosed cabins that seats 3 people. so i booked all 3 seats so we are in the room alone. it would be so much easier putting grace to sleep and feeding and even playing with her, without having to consider a stranger in there with us. The lady that i booked the tickets through was so nice, on my ticket and in my 'notes' section she wrote that i will need assistance getting on and off the train, and also getting food/drinks.:D
so i thought that was really nice, cos otherwise i wont really be able to go to the food-car, cos id have to juggle grace/food/drinks/wallet. :(
hopefully in an hours or so it will cool down, i really wanted to wash my car before i go away!
Oh i forgot to say when im going away
Leaving this thurs 8th and getting back mon 12th.
so its just a little holiday but im very excited about it! we are going to the aquarium and wild life park in darling harbour. and also lots of shopping!! i want to go to ikea too at some stage.
ok enough blabbing on :ecomcity:
Hope everyone is well, oh speaking of straw cups, i bought one for grace this morning! i havent triend her with it yet though, i think she will be fine, cos ive given her a popper with a straw before. (just a sip of one i was having)

Hi guys, I am away this week up the coast- just popping on to see how you are all going.
Been really hot this week- which has meant Phoebe has had to drink some fluids from a bottle- she has been alright, but has had to, esp when our car broke down in 40 degree heat on monday on the f3- 2 hours before we got going again!
Anyways gotta go , need to get washing on the line and dd2 is tearing around this place like crazy!
Have a great time 3divas! :)
its great that lots of us are getting the chance to have a little hoiday!
Im leaving in a couple of hours, so just thought id pop on here to say bye and i probably wont be back on here til i get back, so ill let you all know how i go next tuesday, hopefully. Maybe i might have a chance to come on one night over the weekend though.
The worst part of going away though is the unpacking and the washing when u get back ahh i hate that part!
Anyway, i hope everyone and all the bubs are well.
PS - has anyone tried their bubs on cows milk?
i have given grace a little sippy cup of half water half cows milk, just occasionally with a piece of toast for breakfast. shes only had that about 3 or 4 times, but she loves it!! i know its recommended 12 months, but i thought it wouldnt hurt giving it to her every so often now, she only drinks a little bit anyway.
Oh and i was reading another tread on bubhub about giving water to babies, as a drink in between BF/bottles. alot of people say its really wrong, but i give grace water everyday! i offer it fairly regularly on hot days, she doesnt drink cups and cups of it, but if its a really hot day she might drink say 2 inches out of a sippy cup. it doesnt replace her feeds or anything and i dont offer it if she will be having a bottle soon.
do u guys give cooled/cold boiled water??
what are your thoughts on that?
Hi girls i haven't been around for a long time and i have changed my user name again was mumbron then happyinlove now mrs m i can't seem to find one that i really like so i'm thinking of going back to my original one which is mumbron.

Hi Mrs M good to hear from you again. And good to hear Matilda is doing so well :D
sara - have a great time away! I havent gave Shelley cows milk in a sippy cup or anything but she has had it on her cereal, she has cheese and yoghurt no worries so I dont think cows milk will be a problem. Ill probably introduce it around 11.5 months as i want Shelley fully weaned by 12 months and I really dont see the hassle in going from formula to cows milk (also suggested by the doctor). I give Shelley water every day too. I dont see it as a problem at all...atleast not with Shelley!
Whats everyone getting their little ones for their first birthday? i know its just alittle bit away but i have NO idea what to get Shelley at all!
I've never heard that it's bad to give them water - why is that???!!! I give Alexi water from a straw cup every day - like you sara she doesn't drink cups of it, but I offer it to her regularly throughout the day and she has some. I thought it was good to do that, especially during hot weather? Surprises me that some say it's bad. I don't see how water can be bad.
I think I might intro cows milk around 11.5 months too, as I want her to be weaned by 12 months also. She's also had yoghurt and a bit of cheese with no problems, so I'm not expecting any issues with it. I'm sure it's fine to give them a bit now and then. I heard that formula is made from cows milk anyway, and some babies are given formula right from the start.
I've had the flu - feeling a bit better today but so not fun looking after a baby when you're sick. Especially a crawling/standing baby who just does not sit STILL!!!

Hi girls,
Matilda has cows milk every now and again coz she steals it off her brother he still has a bottle for bed time, i'm bad i know but if it keeps him quiet i don't mind i'm going to take them both off the bottle real soon and give them a sippy cup i have been a little relaxed with my two youngest! i guess i just run out of time.
Tilly also eats every thing she isn't to fussy although i tried her on porridge the other day and she didnt like it at all she normally has weet bix for breakie but i thought i would give her a change but it didnt work! And she loves bbq meat she is a better eater than her brother which i'm quiet suprised at and she is in the same size nappys as him and he'll be 2 at the end of this month.

Hi Girls,
I went and got Korben weighed only to find out that he is in the 5% for his weight :crying:
The nurse was so lovely and said that she isn't worried about him as he looks fantasic but he isn't putting on weight.
This is our routine:
Breastfeed-sleep
weetbix
yogurt or custard
meat and vegies for lunch
then he may snack on a bikkie/fruit whilst now having 260mls of formula throughtout the day
dinner
Breastfedd/formula bed.
I seem to spend all day feeding him and now that he is so active crawling all day he hasn't gained any weight.
I have been in tears so many times as i feel so bad as a mother when you see that your baby isn't putting on weight. I am now weaning him and he seems to be going well with the formula.
My husband side of the family are tiny (5ft nothing) so i hope that he has small genes.
Is anyone else suffering this problem?
It is so stressful i wish that he was a beef cake betty!!!

I am back from my week away- so nice to be home!
Shan- how much does Korben actually weigh? My little Phoebe is just 8 kg- she is pretty much exclusively breastfed still- wont eat a thing- have tried and tried and she just refuses!!! It is quite frustrating but the Dr is not perturbed at all- and said some babies take longer to feel they need or want food- esp if they are doing well on the breast.
It sounds like your boy is earing a bit- is he super active? Phoebe is still not very active- rolls and slides around on her back- is trying to get up on all 4's but really not too mobile- I assume when she does get going more she then may feel the need for more more fuel- ie food!
Dont beat yourself up- if you are really worried see your CHN.
Better go- got some hungry grumpy children- but very nice to see you oldies back who have been absent for a while- we miss you!

Hello again!
Shan - dont beat yourself over the weight of little korben. It sounds to me that he is well fed to me and very active. And if your hubby is small and so is his family then it is more then likely that he may have small genes! if the CHN isnt worried i wouldnt be too worried. Just keep doing what your doing. If your really worried then add extra meat or throw in a sandwhich or a peice of toast instead of the yoghurt. to me though it sound good what your doing.
I definatley dont have that problem with Shelley - i havent weighed her in ages but she was 10kg at around 7 months lol. She was 9pound12 so had a good start in life.
She is also very active and is starting to burn off some of her cute little 'rolls'.
Her routine is
wake up (7-8) - breastfeed
breakfast (8.30-9) - can either be:
fruit and yoghurt + peice of toast
2weetbix + peice of toast
Frutiy farex (her fave) + a peice of toast.
(the peice of toast is offered each day some days she eats it all some days half and some days isnt that interested...more often then not though she atleast eats half.
between breakfast and her sleep (which is usually around 11am) usually a buscuit or a fruit bar
Lunch time -Breastfeed - anywhere 1.30 -2.30 depending on her sleep - have tried feeding her before her sleep but find its best to wait till she has her sleep.
can be either
A sandwhich +yoghurt
Meat and Veg
sandwhich + fruit
snack in between lunch and dinner - fruit etc
Dinner time is around 5-6 (shelley only has the one sleep so have to feed her around this time)
She just has for dinner what we have. And depending on how much she has i offer her dessert.
Breast before bed around 7-7.30
So she does eat a fair bit. But she isnt all that fussed on the boob either so i guess she makes upfor it in food.
Shan your doing a great job! i just gave you my routine so you can compare but its pretty similar!
3divas - sorry to hear pheobe is still not eating! Hopefully when she gets moving she will eat for you! DS was extra fussy and it was soooo frustrating!
OK better head off both kiddies are in bed and its time to relax :D

Finally after weeks of torment and torture... Phoebe is starting to cut through her 3rd tooth- up the top- not quite there yet but well under way- the gum has already started to split- never seen the gums like this on the other two kids- no wonder she has been so miserable!!!!
Good idea Hayleylea- might go relax myself now the kids are in bed- though I need to wrap dd1's bday pressies- she is 8 tomorrow- then dd2 will be 2 on Friday- expensive week ahead!
hayleylea
11-01-2009, 07:04
3divas shelley finally cut her 7th tooth yesterday too after weeks of torture! she had a little ulcer thing on it and it just wouldnt come through!
we just had a HUGE SCARE here abot 10 minutes ago, im still shaking. I was in pn the toilet and i heard shelley coughing and struggling to breathe! i rushed out and tried to get my finger in her mouth but couldnt, gave her a huge pat on the back and 10 cents come frlying out!!!!!:crying: I turn around and DS had opened his piggy bank and had money everywher, boy did he get in trouble!
i feel so bad im just glad she is ok:crying:
Oh Hayleylea how scary! My heart would have stopped. Cheeky monkey.
Thanks for the advice Hayleylea and 3divas. I can't help but worry sometimes. He weigh's 7.6kg and is 72cm long. He was 8.7kg born but since hasn't really taken off. We do spend all day feeding him and i'm trying new things everyday! I have an appt with my GP just to make sure and then he has his checkup again in 3 weeks! He is taking to the formula so i pleased with that.
Thanks again, its so good getting reassurance!! :smiliedance:
3Divas&me
11-01-2009, 12:24
OMG- Hayleylea- that is soooo scary!!! Hope shelley is ok- and Cooper too- he would have got a bit of a fright aswell!
Shan- is that 8.7 kg born or typo? It does sound to me like he eats well- I wish Phoebe would do that- it drives me bonkers!!!!
Busy household here today
Omg what i silly billy i am...
He was born 3.7kg lol.
I know what you mean 3divas Korby took a while to switch on to eating soilds. I'm super impressed with how he has been going with the formula though.
I have almost weaned him but what do i do my my boobs feel like they are going to burst??? I have expressed but do i just let them be??
hayleylea
11-01-2009, 17:15
Shan - lol at the typo. Yeah just keep going the way your going. See what happens now he is on formula. As for still expressing Id probably do it less or stop unless it comes unbearable. How often are you expressing?
yes it was a VERY scary morning. Suprised how good i reacted though. I suppose in them situations you dont have time to panic and you do what you have to! She has been since. She was a bit upset after it. Its hard because im so strict on leaving things on the floor and strickt with cooper too because Shelley is a very mouth kid...everything goes in her mouth! We vacuum sometimes 2 times a day here...because anything little on the floor she picks up! Oh well these things cant be helped. It was an accident, and it turned out all ok in the end and thats all that matters :D
ok better go we have spent the day in town at the MILs and im beat! gee i hope these kids go to sleep early!
I'm expressed once after he didn't have a breatfeed before bed or this morning so at about 12.30pm i had to take over! I have cut out his feeds and he is just having the forumla. I thought that it would take us forever to take to the bottle and to be weaned but he hasn't been intrested in my breast milk, which is ok now as he started to bite...ouch!! I do feel a little bit gulity as i made him take to the bottle and didn't wait untill he was ready!
So i now give him 260mls of formula 3/4 times throughout the day as well as 3 soild meals!
I know what you mean with vacum Hayles i swear its strapped on my back 24/7. As you said the shock only sinks in after the ordeal.
3Divas&me
11-01-2009, 19:47
Our vacume rarely goes away now- always out- if we have visitors they just step over it- has become part of the furnishings- lol- I would like a dustbuster though- they would be the trick.
Weaning and full boobs..... I know how sore and uncomfortable it is if Phoebe skips a feed and has a bottle- but should not take too long for your body to get use to it- express a little but only til comfortable- if you express too much your body will jjst make up what has been drained.
Big arvo here for dd1's bday- movies, maccas and pavlova back at home with a million kids and relos.
3divas what a big day!! I bet your looking forward to bed! :)
Thanks for that i will see how they go! It gets to a point where if you just touch them they hurt. Funny when i expressed i look at it and it was green it must be all that lime coridal that i drink! Lol..
Haylea how scary for you! I have nightmares over that stuff. Just yesterday I saw Taylor chewing. I ignored it for 5 mins and thought she must be playing with her new teeth. I knew she's been into my candles but thought nothing of it. The she gagged and I panicked. Through screams and tears I pried her mouth open to find a half burnt match. How bloody stupid of me to leave that around! It happened so easily and now i'm panicked at other stupid things I can do without knowing.
Tonight I was sick of being the one to always look after Taylor when we are out at bbq's etc so left it to hubby. Needless to say we left early cause he couldn't get her to sleep :D
Lala how is your flu? I hope you are getting on top of it. Nothing worse than needing to be looked after but you have a bubba to take care of.
Diva you seriously are a superwoman. I love that you take everything in your stride. I wish I could take a leaf out of your book:)

[B]Diva you seriously are a superwoman. I love that you take everything in your stride. I wish I could take a leaf out of your book:)
Thanks, LOL you would not have been saying that if you saw me last week away with the kids on my own- was a complete nightmare- esp when the car broke down during heat wave on thr f3- I rang my mum in a panic crying!!!! I have a fantastic dh who helps out so much- he keeps me sane!
Shan- expressing green milk? I am not sure what to make of that one:laughing: Very odd indeed!!
Might go to bed- just waiting for dd1 to finish watching a movie with her cousins who are sleeping over- so I can get them into bed.
3divas you poor thing breaking down! My parents live near Newcastle and i always panic about breaking down on the freeway! I agree you are amazing! Teaching kids throughout the week then raising your own! A medal indeed!! :yelclap:
I its funny i hope that it was the Lime cordial that has made it green  i almsot died when i saw it! That might be for emergency's only! Lol.
Heading to Melb for the Aust open soon i wont know myself being away from dh and the kids! Dh is having them for the weekend! He is also a angel! :valentine:
Shan I have heard my girlfriend complain of a green tinge to her milk. I really don't know why it would do that! I'll have to ask her about cordial.
I just have no motivation today! I should be doing a million things but can't be bothered. I think I really just need a day of not thinking and worrying about Taylor and what mischief she can get up to!
You guys are soooo lucky your hubbies take the kids! Mine helps out so much, he's awesome with her, but won't (or doesn't) take her out on his own. Not sure why. maybe because I never pushed it, he lost confidence? He will be fine once she's a bit older I think. He has taken her a few times to have icecream, twice exactly, but the hour went so quick! :D
Chippy my husband is the same he worries alot and thinks that he has to entertain them 24/7 rather then watching them play or roam around! He is awesome with our 4 yr old as he likes that age rather then a little bubby! He gets a bit stressed when they are young! Korby is a mummy's boy! I think they will be fine when i'm away! It will be weird not having a pram to push or bum's to change but i'm looking forward to it! It will be my first time away without the kids!
Shan a friend of mine is also stressing about her baby not putting on weight. She's 3 months old and on the 5th percentile too. I remember reading though that the percentile is the range of normal - as long as they're on it they're okay. Some have to be on the lower end and some on the higher end, it's all just degrees of normal. Alexi has always been on the 90th though, so it probably makes it a bit easier when they're big. But now Alexi is so mobile her body shape has changed and we get comments that she's losing weight. She's not losing it, her shape is just changing. She can't carry around those rolls forever! If the doc isn't worried about your little one, that's a good sign.
Hayley how scary!!! God, Alexi puts everything in her mouth too. Chippy, the same type of stuff has happened to me with things going in her mouth that shouldn't. I'm slowly getting used to scanning everything in a room before I put her down - one step ahead....
I have to say though, I've noticed that I've started getting a bit more nervous at the thought of others looking after her. Even my parents and dh. I trust them completely, but i think with Alexi moving so much now you have to keep an eye on her ALL the time and it just freaks me out to think that someone else could be responsible for that aside from me....ahhh!
Chippy my flu is a lot better, thanks. Still feeling really tired though.
You know I just realised I've never been home without Alexi here...except once when dh took her to bunnings for 20 minutes.
hayleylea
12-01-2009, 14:45
lala i do the whole scan the room thing too! but i had knicked out of the room and in the meantime DS had emptied his wallet! As for other people looking after them, it can be hard sometimes!
im buggered.I just mowed the lawns and its so hot out there! phew!
Shan enjoy your trip away!
ok better go Cooper and Shelley just had a peice of cake lol..what a mess!
Hey guys!... IM BACK!!
ahh got home a couple of hours ago, so exhausted!!
Grace was so good on the train trip! (it was 5+ hrs)
We did lots of stuff in Sydney - aquarium, shopping, factory outlets, movies (i did that without grace obviously!), Yum Cha.
and this morning we got up early and went to the set of Sunrise!
We got on tv briefly. Beretts is so hot for an older guy up close!!
I got autographs at the end of the show off Beretts, Mel, Larry Emda, Jessica Rowe. Mel is very big! (as in big boned, and tall!) she also had ridiculously high shoes on and she couldnt walk properly!
Just opposite the sunrise set is a Lindt Cafe, OMG SOOO good!! I got a hot chocolate ($6.50), and u get a cup, a little jug of hot melted chocolate and another larger jug of warm frothy milk. so u mix it up and make it yourself, it made 2 cups. sooo good.
:ecomcity:
Anyway good to read so many new posts!
x
Sara I'm so please your trip went so well. I'm the one posting to you on facebook incase you have no idea LOL.
Lala i'm so glad you said that about other ppl looking after bug. I'm so paranoid, to the point where its slightly obsessive. We are on the Gold Coast with no family at al. So when ppl offer to sit, like my close friend of 3 yrs (who has a 3 month old) i'm panicked. How can she possibly know how to take care of a fast crawling, standing big girl? I freak out. As for Grandparents (when they visit from interstate for their 5 seconds a year), they have sore backs, knees, fall asleep on the couch etc. I'm sure ppl think i'm (we are) weird to not trust anyone but its hard to explain that we have dont this entirely on our own, no help, so we don't understand, and have no experience with the baby sitting thing. I think unless you do it consistantly, it is hard to accept help. It is hard cause i'm so frightened of something happening to her that I don't trust anyone. Not that I love her more than you guys love yours! Maybe its to do with taking 4 years to get her? So no I don't leave her with anyone.
hayleylea
13-01-2009, 06:20
chippy - nothing wrong with being nervous about leaving bug with anyone. Especially because you dont have any family up there. I have no problems leaving the kids with my mum or my sister or the MIL. I do it quite regulary even if its just to do the shopping. Im also around them alot so they see how I look after her so that gives me the reassurance that they know what I expect, what I let her do, what I dont let her do. my DF is still working over seas so its just me and the kids day in day out so Its a welcome change when I can leave them for a few hours here and there! Maybe when Bug gets a bit older, more confident on her feet etc you will feel a bit better. Maybe even just trying to leave her for half and hour with your friend etc to see how they go...only if you want to though, you definatley dont have too :)
Sara - glad to hear your trip went well. I use to watch sunrise all the time until Cooper decided that ABC was the greatest TV programme of all lol. i woulnt have thought Mel was big boned so that suprised me. For some reason i thought she was really short...She does go up and down in weight all the time though.
Cooper was up at the crack of dawn today 6am - whats with that!! So tired! Shelley is still in bed and im hoping she stays there for another half an hour. I had her up at 4.30 crying (stupid teeth!) she was only up for 15 mins though.
Ok talk soon
hayley Alexi was up at 6am today too!! Must be something in the air.
Sara glad your holiday went well. A few years back I went to Sydney too and to sunrise and met them all, and got on tv a bit. I thought Berretts was great too - he was really nice and could see we were nervous about approaching them so he got them all lined up to have a photo with us! Really nice guy. Yeah and Mel is very tall - so is Nat. I missed that Lindt cafe though - mmmm sounds yummmmm
Waiting for my stepsister to come for a visit this morning - I can count the number of times she's seen Alexi....it's worse because it's the complete opposite with her niece on her fiances side - they see her all the time.
Okay yep there must be DEFINATELY something in the air....Grace has been getting up at 6am too!! i can remember a few months ago every morning it was 7.30am...ahhh that was nice.
Most mornings though i can just lay in bed while she climbs all over me and push it out till 6.30/7 then we get up and do the morning bottle. Maybe its the time of year? i dunno.
Grace has been constipated for a week now, i went to the chemist and the lady said to give her coloxyl drops. 15 drops 3 times a day. i hope that clears it up! she said it should, i just have to give her till friday and if nothing has happened (no poo's), then i will have to get a tablet to put up her bottom :(
Im cooking Bulgogi for dinner tonight YUMMM
its Korean, its basically marinaded thinly sliced meat served with rice and dried seaweed sheets. so yummy. im excited.

Wow- freaky... the last 2 days Phoebe has been up way before 7am too!!!!
Having some major issues with teeting here- finally Phoebes 3rd tooth has broken through the gum completely and is visible- but she is still miserable, number 4 may not be too far off- well atleast I hope not!
Hayleylea- how long is df away for? must be very difficult- was he home for xmas?
Chippy- I was the same with dd1- not comfy leaving her with anyone- still the same now really- have my 30th coming up and the few I know and trust to leave my kids with will be out celebrating with me, so looks like the kids will have to come- I do think you need to have complete faith and trust in someone before you can leave your children with them- just because they are good friend does not mean a thing when it comes to the safety and security of your child.
Better go get Phoebe ready for bed:wave:
hayleylea
13-01-2009, 20:30
Not good the 6am starts. Its not actually Shelley though its my 3 year old lol/ She is good she sleeps till 7.30-8 which is great!
Sara - no good about the constipation. DS got constipated HEAPS when he was little. The coloxyl drops worked really well. I have used the capsules up the bum too - and as gross and yuck as it sounds it relieves them REALLY QUICKLY!
3divas - DF is away until he can get a job back home unfornatley :( it is tough but i guess im use to i t by now. He was home for christmas for a week, very busy time at his work but it was nice to have him home. I miss him like crazy but I know that soon enough we will be together.
Another question for you 3divas do you attend a playgroup here? Im looking for a good playgroup to go too with Cooper and Shelley. Cooper is very shy and id the playgroup we were going to didnt have any boys (well not that turned up much anyway) so im looking for a new one. If not do you know of any of your friends that love their one?
ok better head off. My mums here tonight (means i get a sleep in tommorrow!!! WHOOHOO cant wait)
talk soon
Yes i agree about leaving grace with other people too. (dunno if u guys remember or not but she goes to home daycare with my XDFs mother, she has been doing daycare for about 30yrs.) when she first started going i was very nervous about being away from grace for so long (12hrs), but since she has been doing daycare for so long she definately knows what shes doing. but as time has gone by, i am fine with it now. some days i actually look forward to a day for myself .
Now i am quite comfortable leaving her with family who know her and only if she is comfortable with them too. while i was in sydney i left her with my aunty and uncle a couple of times for about 2 hrs each time. they are very caring people and are great with kids, and grace loved them, my uncle had a knack at getting her to sleep! i should have brought him home with me
I think since once a week i am away from grace for 12hrs in one go that sort of got me used to being not with her 24/7, if that makes sense. I am actually quite surprised she is fine away from me for that long. she is very much a mummys girl, when we are home she is always by my side, & calling out mum mum mum. when XDF drops her off at 8pm she always jumps out of his arms into mine and gives me lots of cuddles.
I spose as she gets older she will realise that when she gets put in daddys car early in the morning that means she wont see me till the night time. but also since its been happening since she was quite young she will just be used to it to i guess.
Hmm... i hope this new early rising of our bubbas isnt a permanent thing!!

Phoebe woke at 6:15 am againtoday, but just put her between me and dh and turned my back- she kicked and played and was a gr8 back massage:laughing:
Hayleylea- I dont go to a playgroup- I do go to kindamusik at the baptist church- and after that the kids have a play at the playground and the mums chat. That new big christian center at the top of hereford st across fromm the shops run a playgroup on tues morns- my friend and I havewalked passed before when it is on and it gets quite busy in there- noy sure though if you have to be a member of the church or not but I have contemplated going one morning for a look. We really should have a meet one day- down at the peace park or something!
Sara- I think it would be hard sharing your child with xdf, you do well to give him the time that you do- I know these days you have to, but would still be very difficult. I get a bit of seperation anxiety if I am away from my kids too long- mum wants to take dd1 away for 5 days next week- and I just think 5 days is too long to be away from me!
:fingerscrossed: a better day with the teeth- yesterday was not a gr8 day for Phoebe or me!
hayleylea
14-01-2009, 07:56
3divas...yeah playmate connection is the one at that church. I saw the sign up there before and thought it would be good..but wasnt sure if you had to be a member. Im actually contemplating a few at eglington. Most of the ones at bathurst are run out that way so ill ring a few of the co-ordinators and see what they say. I just really want to try and get Cooper out of his shell a bit.
Kindermusic- is that good? i have thought about putting Cooper in there too, the only problem is when i enquired they said that they dont like you taking the 2 kids along etc and I dont really have anywhere to just leave Shelley...unless i go out to raglan and leave her with my sister but theres a good half an hour of mucking around before hand. Im still thining of it though.
yeah will definatley have to meet up one day. Like Cooper i am shy as...which is another reason why i wanted to start a new playgroup. My old one had all older ladies and id like to find one with girls my age and hopefully make some friends in bathurst. (with kids)
Ok better go. Shelley aws up at thec rack of dawn today - dunno what was with that. Lucky my mum was here and got up with her and cooper while i slept till 8.30 (its a bit of a sleep in for me these days lol mum told me to go back and sleep some more but I was already up and ready for the day lol)
Ok better head off. Talk soon.

well stupid me didn't realise we had a new thread (and i couldn't find the old one:o)
so
daniel was born on the 13th of march.
he is currently cruising furniture and crawls really fast now. loves to climb the stairs:eek:. and steal toys from his big sister. he has 4 teeth (2 top and 2 bottom) he loves his food and will eat anything i put in front of him and he usually eats more than his 3 year old sister.
3divas - wow 5 days is a LONG time!! i dunno if i could go 5 days without seeing Grace. although an 8yr old is alot different than a 9month old.
how far away does your mum want to take her??
I dont go to any playgroups. i used to but dont anymore. i should start going again though now grace is older she will interact alot more with the other kids than she did when we first went.
Just wanted to say how jealous I am of these 6-7am start babies. We don't get a sleep in past 5am so know how lucky you are:sleeping: She goes straight onto the boob too and never falls back asleep so its all go. We hate it but nothing we seem to try helps!
Okay, I'm ashamed to see that my last visit was in August last year ... But I'm still around!
Oscar was born on Easter Sat (22nd March). I turned 28 yesterday and my hubby is 29.
Oscar shows absolutely no interest in crawling. He just pushes himself backwards on his tummy instead! And he kicks his legs frantically, eats and chatters ALL day long - no real words yet.:ecomcity:
He has two teeth on the bottom and they really bugged him coming through. The GP tried to tell me we overestimate how much it bothers them and said it probably doesn't hurt as much as we think. I should've rung her mobile sometime in the four hours from 2-6am when he was screaming before he woke up at 10am with his first tooth! :hissy:
Maybe she'd care to reestimate how much it bothers (some of) them!
OMG chippy you poor thing!! ok i wont complain about our 6-6.30am starts anymore! haha...
Hi Eckey! Happy Birthday for yesterday!
Graces first 4or5 teeth didnt worry her at all, she would just be a bit grumpy for an evening then when we woke up in the morning she had another tooth! but the last 2or3 she has got have seemed to bother her a bit more. every baby is different though.
3Divas&me
14-01-2009, 12:51
happybirthday Eckey- had noticed on f/b that it was your bday- hope it was a good day- and good to see you back in here again! I have heard that teething is suppose to be not that painful either- but a few weeks back I had such a bad day with Phoebe she tried to feed and everytime her gums got on my boob she pulled back and screamed in pain- was quite traumatic- after I had realised it was her teeth- I put bonjela on then stuck her straight on the boob- and she was able to feed- just took me 7 hours to realise what i had to do!!
Chippy- 5am! You poor thing- what time do you all go to bed?
Sara- mum wants to take dd1 to PortMacquarie-about 500kms from here- 7 hour drive.
Hayleylea- I am quite shy too- I actually met up with a lady I have been speaking to on another thread for 2 1/2 years, just after xmas at the Entrance- it was really weird as we caught up like old mates- we knew enough about each other to keep conversation alive- that has been my 1st bubhub meet- was really nervy about going- but went really well:thumbsup:
Kindermusik is gr8- Bridget loves it- is quite hard with a baby though- have had to take Phoebe along twice and it was a bit disruptive- only cause the other kids there were more interested in her than the class- but really lovely lady who runs it- better than the classes at the conservatorium!!
So phoebe is actually sleeping:smiliedance: was able to run down the road and buy myself an outfit for my 30th bday party next weekend- I rarely get down town solo- was fantastic- then raced the parking inspector back to my car- he got there as I did and said to me- "your bloody lucky!!"

3divas - yeah i have met one person of bubhub and we are really good friends. She lives in wagga but i have been met up with her twice...and i spent a week there one time when DF was working up there. Id be lost without her we talk all the time lol. Its a good network for friends bubhub is. Will definatley have to organise a time. It would do me good to get out and about and also Cooper..to see more kids. He does see kids but he is just so shy poor little man. Its hard because he honestly has the funniest personality, and is just such a funny little boy but noone sees it until they get to know him! he will be fine i was shy and although im still shy in new situations I made heaps of frineds at school and stuff and was never a loner so im sure he will come out of his shell.
Eeky - GREAT TO HAVE YOU BACK! As for teething not hurting - i think thats a load of CR@P to be honest and ive been told it before. God we know how much it hurts just to get a tooth ache.
ok better go. I think Shelley needs to go down for a second sleep which is VERY unusual for her! she usually only has one sleep a day.
3divas ~ Port Macquarie is about one hour away from me! I live in Taree.
hmm 7 hours away is quite a long distance isnt it!
Hayleylea ~ wow, usually one sleep a day!?? grace has 2 or 3 usually. but they arent big sleeps, usually only between 30-60mins. although the last few days its been so hot and she has been sleeping longer, im assuming the heat is exhausting her. its exhausting me too... haha.

sara - yeah only one day sleep but its usually 3-3.5hours so it works out really well for us.
:D now she has had the sleeps she is still awake - throws routine out of order but she is happy so thats the main thing. Will be going to bed within half an hour whether she likes it or not :P
yuck, 5am starts are not nice chippy. I would be buggered! This morning Alexi was up at 8 which was nice, then back in bed 930-11.15, and then back in bed again 1-4. Some good sleeping today but she seems like she needs it.
3divas it's awful when a tooth comes through and you hope the mood will improve but it doesn't. We had the same with Alexi's top teeth. One came through but she was still grumpy for a few weeks until finally the other one came through.
Eckey I've been told too that we overestimate how much teething hurts them, and that it shouldn't really hurt them at all. I think that's complete bull****! I don't know where that train of thought comes from!
Hayley poor little Cooper being shy. I was shy when I was younger too - I wanted to cling to mum a lot. But I never had trouble making friends at school so he should be fine. I know what you mean about him being really funny but noone seeing it until they get to know him. And then people make assumptions that just aren't true. In some ways it makes it even more special that you and others he feels safe with get to see the real him. Kind of like a cat personality - dogs are all over everyone, but cats you have to get to know so they trust you first.
Alexi usually has 2-3 naps a day of about 1.5 hours each, although she's been having some long ones lately. Not complaining though - yesterday I had a 2 hour nap along with her I was so tired!
Yes 5am is crazy, so we go to bed at around 9pm. Its hard cause her cries startle us awake every morning and you never have time to adjust. After reading how many bubs wake later here I started a new plan today.:yelclap: I strapped her into her sling at 3pm and carried her round for 30mins before she finally fell asleep this arvo. That way i could keep her up till 7.30 tonight. I know she'll wake early tomorrow but if i'm consistant she will start sleeping later. Normally she goes to bed at 5.30pm so no wonder she's up early. Its just that her last sleep of the day is usually from 1-1.30 so she's exhausted by 5pm. I'll teach her! LOL

lala - thanks for your input about Coopers Shyness. Im sure he will be fine. Mum says that I was worse then Cooper and I was fine at school too, but I think a new playgroup will be good for all of us, and just getting out and about.
Chippy, hope your new routine works and she sleeps later for you.
We spent most of yesterday in the Pool...its just a little paddle one. Shelley up until now has been too scared. I put her in yesterday and OMG she LOVED it. The kids were in there for ages, she was crawlin around (even though the water was way up to her neck. She just loved it. Was lying on her belly kicking her legs it was so cute. Put some photos on my website if you want to check them out.
OK better go do this house work! we were up at 6.40 today courtesy of Shelley but thats not too bad! I really like atleast 7 though ;)
chippy hope that new routine works. Yeah, 530 is quite early so it'd be good to be able to push out her bedtime which will hopefully positively affect her waking time.
Hayley Alexi loves the little wading pool too. She's a definite water baby and is happiest when she's in there. She was even getting cold in there over christmas and all the older kids got out but Alexi wanted to stay in there she was having so much fun.
I'm trying to get Alexi down for a sleep at the moment, but doesn't seem like it's working...she only had an hour this morning so I'm trying for another one before we have to go out. I always expected to have more of a 'routine' but her sleeps are still so all over the place, it all depends on when she wakes up for the day and how long she sleeps for her first sleep. Yesterday she had 2 3 hour naps, and today she's only had an hour so far...I just can't predict anything. Definitely not one of those babies who always sleeps say 11-2 or whatever so you can plan your day around it.

Lala- not having much luck with Phoebe sleeping today either- think dh might have her asleep now- he is in the rocking chair with her- but will be her first and its almost 3pm!
Hayleylea- I got a letter from kindermusik today with a voucher for a free preview class, so if you are interested can pass it on to you if you like.
Pretty warm here again- might set up the wading pool for the babies later on when the sun goes down a bit- still too hot out there now. It is dd2's 2nd bday tomorrow so need to get down town and get some wrapping paper- had to wrap dd1's pressies on Sunday in xmas paper:laughing:
Help me please, I've just stopped wrapping!
I stopped wrapping Oscar yesterday - yes I know i shouldn't still be wrapping him, but he absolutely loves the wraps and cannot resettle when his arms are out cause he waves them all around conducting the traffic. I've made such a a rod for my back by wrapping so tightly for so long. When others wrapped him, he'd always escape and I'd have to go in and rewrap and put the dummy in to get him back to sleep. But he woke up 7 times the night before last casue he was too hot, so I finally bit the bullet and went cold turkey!
It took him 1.5 hours to go to sleep the first nap without them and he only slept for 40 minutes. Last night it took 1 hour, this morning half and hour and this afternoon 15 minutes. Sounds great right? Except he wouldn't do more than one sleep cycle each time (except the night sleep - which was fantastic!) and he normally has a 2-3 hour sleep and a 1 hour+ sleep (about 3+ hours of day sleep) to make up for his recent bad night sleeping.
He took an hour again tonight, despite being thoroughly exhausted, cause he just cant stay still. When he's awake he kicks pretty much all day long on superspeed - but isn't crawling yet - and he just wont calm down for a sleep for ages.
We have road works going on from 7pm till 5am for the next 3+ nights and 2construction sites across the road in the day time, so he'll probably wake up and I'll really need to help him go back to sleep after waking up.
The dummy was fantastic when he was wrapped - sometimes the only thing that worked, but now with his hands free he pulls it out and waves it around instead of sucking it and going to sleep.
Help - what can I do to resetle him after such a short sleep? Any advice is appreciated.

Sorry, don't know what happened there ;-)
ooh wow 3divas you have a lot of birthdays in your house around the same time!! Not to mention christmas - wow!! Thankfully Alexi ended up going to sleep this morning eventually, and slept for about 2 hours so that was good. I've noticed she's been a lot more tired lately - she's sleeping more (having longer naps) but still getting tired quickly.
Eckey, wow on the stopping wrapping! I think Alexi would've killed me if I was still wrapping her, she hates being confined, although used to love it at the start. But all babies are different so I can totally understand why you kept going if he liked it. Maybe it'll just take him awhile to get used to not being wrapped and learning how to resettle? If he did it quite well at night then it's a good sign that he will be able to get used to it.
As for resettling, sorry I don't have many answers there. Overnight if Alexi is to wake, which isn't often, we either give her boob (try not to, only if were really buggered) or just pick her up and cuddle her and put her back down which tends to work. But during the day it's really hard to resettle her, and generally whenever she wakes up that's the end of the nap, no matter how long it's been. Occasionally she'll go back to sleep if I give her a cuddle, but otherwise sometimes I just have to get her up and then try again not long after. I'm usually unhappy if her nap is just an hour or less, but if it's more than that then she's usually fine - plus I guess it means she would've gone through a sleep cycle. Sorry I can't be more help.
I need some help of my own! Alexi is getting sooo restless in her stroller it's getting annoying! I tried to have lunch with my mum today and we barely got to the end of a very quick lunch before Alexi got ****ty and restless, despite the fact that I'd given her food to eat too (she eats way too quickly). Then I went to get foundation and she got ****ty just sitting in her stroller then too, making it seem like she's a really grumpy baby. She's fine if we're moving, but stopping is becoming really hard. Does this pass??!!
lala how frustrating for you! You just sit down to a nice meal and....nope. I'm sorry I have no advice for you. As long as the pram is moving Taylor has no problem in it, and you offered food so I can't even suggest that! I think now they are more mobile they don't like being confined. Even when i try cuddle taylor now she kicks back and straightens her body till i have to put her down. She did it at Westfield today, put on a real show, so I got the sh*ts and put her on the dirty shopping centre floor and she crawled 3 shops down! Little bugger.
Has anyone else noticed their bubs are throwing their weight around a lot more? Taylor is adorable, she kisses me all the time (nice open mouth slobber ones), but in between that she pushes me away, screams when I won't let her climb the kitchen drawers, crawls like a snake as fast as she can to everything I say no to. Even nappy changes are getting so hard. Oh, and bedtime, she freaks after her bath cause she thinks she's going to bed and cries the whole time till I let her play again.
Our little bedtime routine worked very well yesterday, she slept in till 5.45am YEH!!! But today when I went to try the same thing i couldn't get her down for her arvo nap so she had to go to bed at 6pm, thats all I could stretch her. She likes to nap at around 8.30-10.30, then at 1pm for 30mins. So its impossible to get a third sleep. I tried keeping her up at the 1pm but she screamed the house down. What can I do? I can't expect her to stay awake from 1.30 till 7pm, but I can't get her to sleep in the arvo either. man these kids are frustrating LOL!

Eckey- not too long to for wrapping at all- my dd1 was wrapped til she was 11 months- and I have contemplated trascillian with Phoebe... and guess what.... if I went there now they would wrap her- she would not sleep the other day so I got out a wrap and wrapped her.... in all honesty, she really should still be wrapped!!! If you are comfy doing it and Oscar settles better, keep wrapping I say. He will eventually grow out of it when he is ready- like my dd1 did!
Chippy- am hearing you- Phoebe is already having little tanty's- quite cute at the moment cause she cant do much about it!
Lala- having the same prob- as long as the pram is moving Phoebe is fine, as soon as it stops:hissy:. Getting very annoying. Is Alexi upright enough in her pram? I have a Phill and Teds and Phoebe rides at the back down the bottom- I find she is alot better when she is in the front and can see everything better.
Busy day today- dd2 is 2!!!!
yep - both Taylor and Phoebe sounds exactly like Alexi - it's sooo frustrating! I have a MacLaren stroller so she is upright (although tends to slouch - something else I don't know how to deal with). I'm worrying now that it's the stroller she doesn't like (it's new) but I love it so much more than my Peg Perego stroller/pram. Does my head in!
Chippy, I know what you mean about throwing the body around too. Alexi does these 'banana' bends backwards and certainly has little tantrums. Oh God, the joys....
Chippy that's really frustrating about the sleeps - I don't know what to suggest. If you pushed them back for like a week (and were prepared for her to be really ****ty that week) do you think she might slowly get into the habit of waking up later which would then just naturally push everything back?
Alexi has been a pain with her morning sleeps the past two mornings. She has slept for like 45 minutes and then woken up (like she has now - I've been ignoring her!) and so then needs to go to sleep again soon cos she didn't sleep long enough to start with. My patience is a little low today!
I thought I got AF back this morning, but since first thing this morning there's nothing else there so I have no idea what's going on. AHHHH!!! Think I'm going to have 'one of those days'....
Happy birthday Bridget!!

happy birthday to bridget 3 divas! :D hope you guys have a great day.
On the wrapping - Shelley is still wrapped - only loosley though, she is never in the wrap by about 20 minutes of being down but it helps me keep her settled whlie feeding her etc. its more just a comfort thing for her feed and for her to fall asleep with then she is out of it. I say if its working for you just keep wrapping theres no rule to say stop. They will evnetually grow out of it :D
lala - no idea about the pram. Maybe even just try one of the really cheap strollers and see how she goes. Both my kids have loved the strollers - they work really well if your just going down town and not during a sleep time (as they dont recline) other then not sure what you can do. Have you got toys in there with her? or hanging from the shade cover thing? or perhaps get someone else to push the pram one time and walk in front so you can assure her its ok? must be frustrating! Shelley loves any kind of pram so im pretty lucky with that! I think the key to anything with kiddies when they dont like anything is persistance. Even if you just put her in it at home and push her round the house to get use to it :D
Ok better head off..talk soon
ETA - 3 divas thanks fo rthe offer of the free lesson for kindamusic. My sister actually got one in the mail too but thanks for the offer!
thanks hayley. Alexi is fine when being pushed in the stroller but is just unhappy when we stop. I have toys, I have food, but she still gets antsy. She didn't used to be like that - it's just a recent thing and I'm not liking it at all! Maybe I should just try having her sit in the stroller at home like you said and get her used to being still in it - she'd probably hate it but I really don't want one of those kids who goes psycho when out!

lala - sorry for not reading your post properly..hmm when the pram stops thats a hard one! maybe a musical toy that hangs from the top that you can put on when you stop? lol have no idea! yeah try her at home or even walking around the yard then stop and see what happens!? Hope it gets better for you!
OMG yes grace has been terrible lately too!
she loves cuddles, but when she has had enough or wants to get down on the floor etc, my god she nearly jumps/squirms her way out of my arms!
And nappy changes...i dont even want to think about it.... talk about being a wriggler! i have to try and distract her really well or give her something to play with and make a big deal about it, eg - me smiling big and saying things like "ohhh look what u have ur so lucky arent you, thats special, ohhh wow bubby what do u have!?" haha, i think keeping her distracted while i sneekily put her nappy/clothes on is the go!
Is this a normal thing?? :(
cos i gotta say...im not liking it!
Sara sounds exactly like what happens here. Nappy changes used to be so fun and relaxing - she used to love them and we'd spend ages chatting. But now she is sooo restless I have to distract her and do it quickly, and if I'm changing her on the floor she keeps crawling off and making it really hard. It's definitely a lot more challenging now.
Success today at the shops! Yay! She took a rusk for the first time in ages and it kept her happy and occupied for a long time - long enough to have lunch and everything. She did go a bit mental when we tried to get her to sleep though. A friend of mine suggested getting a portable DVD player to keep her entertained, either with a DVD or music. She loves music so much - dances to it all the time, so I don't know, maybe it'd work...
Most of the time i keep a little zip lock bag or small tupperware container of water crackers in my bag or in the pram when im out and about, give grace one of them and that seems to keep her occupied for a while! (the only thing with water crackers is i find i need to make sure she has plenty of water while having them, as you could imagine they get a bit dry just by themselves!)
The "heinz - little kids, yoghurt muesli fingers" are also a hit with grace, she loves them, i get the fruit salad flavour. they are individually wrapped so perfect to keep one in my handbag/car/pram etc.
She also likes the "heinz - little kids, soft fruit bars" i usually get strawberry. these are also individually wrapped. i find these are messier than the muesli bars though.

OMG our babies are all doing the same things. Karjarna is such a worm to change and she kicks like mad. We have a bear that we give her while doing it and we only change her on the change table. She can be all cuddles and slobber kisses one mom but when she decides she has had enough she wiggles and grumbles till she can get down. Havent really had a problem with her in the pram she looks around for a while then if she isnt hungry or dirty she goes to sleep.
She is now 8.88kg and 74cm. She is sleeping alnight still, crawling flat out and is she can pull herself up on it she will. She has 5 teeth now and is saying about 5 different things.
Bit sad at the mom as over the last 10 days she has self weaned:crying:. We have been to the CN and the ABA to see if it was something we could fix but they both have said that she has had enough. I was aiming to feed for 12mths but I guess 10mths is a ok start. she is taking the bottle no worries.
Maybe it is a good thing as we are TTC number 2 so maybe it will help in that department.
Better o help DH he is swearing in the front entrance. He is puttin the baby gate up so we can leave the sunroom door open (hate it being shut all the time) but so bubba cant get out. We have a 2foot drop off the varander.

YES! Shelley is a horror to change. You take her nappy off and she is off, smilling and laughing at me. Then i get her back down and she kicks, squirms and screams -drives me nuts lol.
Shelley loves the heinz museli and fruit bars too. The fruit bars are definatley more messy though! Shelley also likes the heinz rice bars too! They are handy too because they are individually wrapped.
OK better go. We had an early start today and im hoping to head into to town to break the day up a bit!
Ooh, haven't tried those muesli bars - have to have a look for them. But she eats the fruit bars (can get very messy!). The problem is she just eats everything so quickly, that I need to give her so much just to keep her entertained. I always have those fruit bars, oat biscuits, grapes, baby mum mums and milk arrowroots but they just all go down way too fast. Such a piggy! That's why I was so glad she took the rusk yesterday - takes much much longer to eat!!
Little Freckle, 10 months is a great amount of time to breastfeed. Gosh, so many mums I know have given up ages ago. Sometimes I feel people look at me weird that I'm still feeding. My SIL thinks I'm crazy as she stopped at 6 months and plans to do so again. But I kind of have in my mind 12 months too, although I'm actually hoping that Alexi will self wean. It'll be sad, I know I'll feel really sad, but I don't know how to do it otherwise! Apparently I self weaned at 10 months. How did Karjarna do it? Did it just come out of the blue? How are your boobs coping?!
That's great Karjarna just goes to sleep like that. Alexi has gone through phases, although hasn't been easy like that since she was a newborn. At the moment she's becoming difficult to get to sleep again when we're out. I put a cover over her stroller, but she pushes it to the side so she can look out and just holds it there. I've realised that there's no point in trying to put it back over her face cos she just gets ****ty - sometimes if she holds it to the side she'll eventually just go to sleep.
No sign of AF again so I have no idea what that bleeding was yesterday morning. Actually freaks me out a bit - why would I just bleed like that for no reason?!
We made it to 10 months aswell. Korby has taken the bottle and seems to being going great guns. I hope that he will bulk up a bit now being on the formula.
I'm am not looking forward to AF returning  Not sure what happen maybe there on the way?
Korby is a nightmare to change as well. I have to be quick before he wee's everywhere i caught onto that quick smart! :)
With this hot weather Korby isn't eating as much, is that happening to anyone else? He will drink his bottle but when i sit him down to eat he doesn't seem intrested at all!! I'm hoping that its the weather!
Yup, Oscar's doing all those things too. He doesn't squirm in my arms if I'm kissing him or making him laugh, but won't stay still for long and he isn't even crawling yet!
I guess food is the key. I was in the newsagent yesterday and he was wsquriming and grunting in his pram, squealing really loudly and everyone's looking at me - if only I'd had a cruskit to shove in his mouth....
You guys are so lucky to have been able to go on for so long with breastfeeding.
Oscar started rejecting the boob at 3.5 months!
I kept going and going and going and it nearly killed me. It would take 40minutes to get him to latch on, he'd kick and scream etc and then finally give in and feed for 40-50 minutes, so breastfeeds would take up to an hour and a half until he was about 6 months, then he'd only feed for half and hour after all the carrying on, except the first feeed was always great.
I tried everything I could to build it my supply and eventually substituted the 4th feed for expressed milk (then eventually formula) and topped him up every now and then after a b'feed. So ofcourse my supply dropped even more and i was getting up at 2 and 5am just to express to build supply and build up a stock of expressed milk...
It actually wouldn' have been so bad if he didn't feed one day then outright reject it the next. I was on the verge of mastitis with grazed nipples and engorged breasts too many times to count. I'd use cabbage leaves cause ithey were so rocky and then have no milk the next day... Al this with a 6 month old baby - it was ridiculous!
I gradually replaced one feed a month until he was eight months and fully weaned from the breast. I was so determied to breastfeed - my mother and grandmother couldn't, so I just kept going, making us both unhappy.
I hope I'll be a bit more realistic with number two, I just won't be able to look after a toddler and take 1.5 hours to feed a newborn.
Hopefully I'll have more support too. There's a lot of judgement out there when you're bottle feeding...
Good on you guys for being able to make it so far - what an achievement!

I wish Phoebe would self wean- I am feeling so exhausted by it all- but she wont eat solids either very much! I actually went and bought a tin of formula today- was buying the single serves- but thought I need to do something drastic and really cut out as many breastfeeds in the day as possible- only feed her morning and night- well thats the plan anyways.
Since Eckey you were discussing wrapping, I have stared again with Phoebe and she has been sleeping so much better during the day- I am going to keep this up to try and establish a proper routine with her- I go back to work next week- so want her to be sorted by then!
I agree - there's some really judgemental people out there about bottle feeding, it's unfair. But then I've found some people to be judgemental about breastfeeding too - as if I'm almost being gross in some ways for still breastfeeding her.
Eckey, that sounds like a lot of stress. You did so well to perservere like that, although hopefully like you said, you can be a bit more realistic about it next time around and not put yourself through so much stress, when bottle feeding is just as good. What a stressful time.
Shan I haven't noticed Alexi not eating as much. Maybe he is getting distracted and wants to do other things? Sometimes I don't feel like eating as much when it's hot so it could definitely be the weather. Is he eating drastically less?
I'm glad you guys all feed your babies to keep them quiet too! Sometimes I feel guilty about it, but I try to give her as many healthy snacks as I can, and hey - if it works!!

Eecky - :hugs: Breastfeeding can be so much harder when you are pretty much forced to give it up rather then just giving it up if that makes sense. Like in your situation, bubs rejecting the boob. People can be harsh about Bottle feeding and I dont really see the point in it. Aslong as the child is getting fed (and formula these days is pretty good stuff!) then i think thats all that matters. I only breastfed DS till he was 2.5 months. I got a kidney stone and was in SO much pain and in and out of hospital on morphine for a week! I could have kept doing it but my body was so far run down from the kidney stone I decided to put DS on a bottle. Im STILL breastfeeding Shelley which I get very surpised looks from some people. To be honest though I wish she would selfwean too. Ive done my service and I want my body back to myself by 12 months. I have a tin of fomulahere too but unfortunatley she doesnt like taking the bottle from me and consideirn gthere is only me here at th emoment its a bit hard! I could persist but i have DS here too so i cant just spend 2 hours trying to get her to take a bottle! Breastfeeding or bottle feeding we are all great mums doing what we can! :smiliedance: I agree though, i have copped some flak from still breastfeeding Shelley. So i guess It doesnt really matter what you do, the way the world is there is always something wrong with something lol.
I have had a SHOCKER of a day. We live 25 mins out of town. Today Cooper got up at 5.30 in the morning :hair: and if that wasnt bad enough he had a tantrum and woke shelley up aswell. So sitting here at 6.30 i decide im going to go into town and have a look for a present for my neice. All good, thinking the kids will have a sleep in the car etc etc etc. Ok so we leave. Cooper DOESNT sleep, shelley does..Get to the shopping centre get out of the car and i had forgot my Bag with my purse in it! aboslutley NO money on me, No id so cant even get money out of the bank. SO MAD. So i think...man what am i going to do now.Luck has it that my sister was in town and she gave me some money. Do what i have to do then come home and Cooper STILL didnt sleep - which really made me mad because i wanted him to have an early sleep or he is up till around 10 which i hate (i love my me time) So he then falls asleep on the lounge at 1 and gets up at 3 (So who knows what time he will go to bed tonight) on top of all that both kids are so cranky and irriatable today...i dont have any nurofen or panadol in the house because i forgot that because i was too tired to think...and Shelley is teething. Oh my bring on bedtime lol
Oh no i'm reading all about self weaning and now i'm panicked! For the first time ever this morning Taylor wouldn't feed. Its always her favourite time, laying there like its Sunday sippers taking all the time in the world while i'm slowly chanting 'get off' LOL. But today she wasn't that interested. I really want to make it to 12 months too. I don't want to stress about bottles and formula. I'll just see what happens tomorrow before I freak out too much.
Wrapping.....what a great idea to go back to it for day sleeps!! I'm definately going to try it tomorrow. I have a mai tai (I think thats how you spell it) for her arvo naps that i've used a lot lately at parties, shopping, home etc as I KNOW she can't resist it lol. But it would be nice to put her down in her cot too.
Lala did you get AF? That is kinda strange but it may just be your body preparing itself. I wouldn't worry about it and you'll probably find it will all right itself soon enough. Gosh i've had mine since Taylor was 4 months old so feel like I didn't have a break at all! So much for people saying after the first bub you will fall again sooooo quickly. What a crock!

Lala- I have had many friends make comments about getting Phoebe 'Off the Boob'- and they look down at me as if itis sick as she is this old and still feeding- cant win- cause DD1 was bottle fed- only b/fed for 3 weeks with her- and people were even critical then- I say do what is necessary for the individual! Pople are critical about everything these days! Too opinionated IMO!
Hayleylea- hope your evening got better yesterday- you poor thing- but I am glad to know I am not the only one who has days like that.
Chippy- how did Taylor go this morning? Did she feed again?
The wrapping went well again yesterday- I am going to get this baby under control before next wednesday- so have 9 days to do it- she is going to work my way!!!!
I only breastfed grace for about 3 weeks. i got terrible cracked nipples and really bad mastitis. and i was putting cream on my nipples that grace couldnt have and i couldnt express anything. i remember i was expressing one day for 40+ mins and all i got out was about half a centimetre! so the dr said to put her on formula for just a few days to give my boobs a break. (while i was having the cream & antibiotics for the cracked nipples & mastitis)
She was SOO much better on formula, was happier and slept better. so when i went back to the dr about a week later i had decided the best thing to do for both of us at the time was to put her 100% on formula. the dr was great about it which made me feel so much more confident and happy with my decision.
I probably could have persisted and eventually suceeded with breastfeeding, but at the time i was so exhausted and overwhelmed with the whole new baby thing that stopping breastfeeding was the best thing for both of us.
At first i was really disappointed with myself, but i could see gracie was so doing so much better on formula, so maybe it just wasnt meant to be, and now im totally fine with that.
Sorry about the blabbing on, but just thought id share my breastfeeding/formula story!
Diva she had a little bit off one side, not enough, then wanted to play. Maybe that the problem, she loves her play time in the big bed and now she's too excited to see what's on the bed head? (We put surprise toys there each night so when she comes in after her feed in the morning she loves to stand up and pull them all down lol). So this morning we let her play, then I took her out to the couch and fed her there, which was fine. I'm just worried my milk has dropped too much? Or she's getting too many solids? I really don't want to struggle with a bottle for just 2 months. I mean, how much milk do they need? She gets ample yogourt, custard, cheese for calcium. I dunno, i just remember the struggle we had with her with expressed milk in bottles and the trauma of having to throw it all out, along with the screams and crying. I'm going to get some fenugreek this morning as I know that pumps me up well!
Sorry can't write anymore been ignoring her wake up calls too long:)

I have caved already- was going to start bottle feeds during the day ( today is day1), but phoebe was screaming and tugging on my top, so she won- refused for some time though and offered the formula many times... but no!

Hi there - new to this group and fairly new to Bubhub too. Great to hear how everyones bubs are coming along. I'm mum to Alex - born 31st March 2008, at 1030pm - so just made it in the March group!!
Alex started crawling a week before he turned 8 months - 2 days AFTER he started pulling himself up on the furniture! I swore for awhile there that he was going to skip crawling and go straight to walking but i'm so glad he started crawling instead - much less far to fall. He has been cruising around the furniture since 8 months as well and walk, nay just about runs when holding on to someones hands - he can also walk just holding one hand now and in the last two days he has started standing without holding onto anything else...eep!
He has 4 teeth and says mum, dad and dog. He claps and today he started playing the passing game with me - I say "ta for mummy" and he gives me the ball and then i pass it back to him - very cute.
I agree, when i see him racing around the kitchen i wonder where my little teeny bubba went - it goes by sooo fast - makes you want to savour every moment though :)
Welcome Cheryl and Alex! It certainly does go so fast. I was at the park today and saw a newborn baby and just couldn't believe that was us almost 10 months ago - she is so far from being that little baby now. Although I'm sure one day I'll look back on her now and think what a baby she was!
3divas - at least you tried before you caved - what else can you do??!!
Chippy - that's a cute idea about putting new toys up there for her to play with each morning. If Taylor is self weaning, try not to stress about it. You've pretty much almost made it to 12 months, what's an extra 2 months?! Plus, if she self weans you don't need to worry about the stress of weaning her yourself - which would probably have to start soon anyway if you were planning to stop at 12 months, which I am.
Hayley I'm feeling a bit like I need my body back now too. Especially cos I want more kids, but I feel like I need a break where my body is just my own for a bit first.
I'm so sick of my tummy. I used to have a flat tummy, but now I have this awful roll that looks gross. It's worse cos I'm still thin everywhere else aside from this disgusting roll, so I feel like none of my clothes look good cos I'm not in proportion. I really wish it would go away.
No AF yet - although feeling some cramping today. I was wondering if I might be ovulating - don't know if that can cause a bit of bleeding? Then sometimes I get worried I'm pregnant but i reaallllyy don't think so.
Hayley I hope your day goes better. It's amazing how much your day can be affected by the little ones not sleeping.
My friends nephew was born last week, and just the other day he was diagnosed with downs syndrome. His parents are both 25 so low risk, and it wasn't even detected at birth by the dr - a midwife recommended the test because she was worried about his development. Kind of puts things into perspective when you hear things like that. I mean, it's not the end of the world, but it's not something you would choose for you or your kids either.
a big hello and welcome to Cheryl (& Alex!)!
My DD Grace was born March 31st too! she was born at 10.15pm! so our bubs are so close its not funny!
Lala - i see little newborns too and just go awww i miss that little baby that i used to have that didnt move or get into everything! hahaha... (just joking)
I do miss the newborn stage though, they are just so cute, and when they are new every single movement or new thing is such an amazement...its like ohh look shes moving her hand haha...
Thats terrible about your friends nephew! it really does put everything into perspective doesnt it, we all have bad days where we want to hand our babies back (haha), but those poor people have ALOT of REALLY bad days ahead of them, it must be so hard!
3divas - all you can do is try... but sometimes its just easier to give in to them isnt it, i totally know about that!

Welcome Cheryl! look forward to hearing from you some more.
3 divas - Im like that with Shelley - i try her with the bottle but theres been alot of times i have given in. I did read up on it a bit though, and if you do attempt to give them a bottle and tehy dont take it then make sure you dont give them the boob straight away because the smart little bubs will do it all the time then. So offer the bottle and if you have had enough and she looks like she isnt going to take it. Give it atleast 15 minutes (or more if you can) before ou give them the boob. Get them up, distract them for awhlie etc.

Thanks for that info Hayleylea- makes sense, and I know Phoebe would just refuse til she got boob- if boob came straight after refusal of the bottle.
I did feed Phoebe this morning, then dh and I took the kids for a walk- a big one- in their little bikes, then came home- gave Phoebe a bit of playtime, then dh fed her a bottle- she took 70mls, then I wrapped her and put her to bed- that was about 11.30 am and she is still asleep!!:yelclap:
Welcome Cheryl and baby Alex:wave:
Phoebe is finally getting up properly on all fours now- so hopefully she we be crawling before her 1st bday- lol!

The whole a/f thing... seems to have disappeared again? WTF? Oh well, see what happens, may come back again.
Guess what... Phoebe is still sleeping:smiliedance: Best sleep she has had for quite some time! I have managed to get so much done.
3 divas that's EXACTLY what has been happening to me regarding AF!! It seemed to come a couple of days ago with no pain, then seemed to disappear just as quickly. Now a few days later I'm feeling a bit of pain but no AF...weird!
Yay for Phoebes sleep!!
Hi Cheryl
I got mine 6.5 months after birth, which i was pretty happy with, cause I'd been replacing feeds for months by then. I did cramp up 2 weeks before and it felt like i had an ovarian cyst, but it was just ovulation after a long spell without it.
3divas - you gotta be strong and wait till she's really hungry, then she'll take the bottle, thats what I did with the boob when he wouldn't feed. The doctor siad to wait 5 hours (he was only five months though) till he was really hungry and then he finally took it.
Oscar still shows no interest in crawling. Just as well really, our place is nowhere near ready. I bought the stuff, just havent done anything with it. I guess I'll put him in his portacot to start with to buy me some time when it does happen. Even when he sees the other bubs crawling, he's so content to sit there and lean over his toes to grab things. Even when I put them out of reach past his toes he manages to practially eat his toes to get them. He can reach pretty far past his toes like his mummy. At least he wont ever be pregnant and have his pelvis nearly dislocate!
Lala - GOsh, your poor friends. That's so unexpected, especially being so young. Makes you really thankful for healthy bubs - even though they drive us crazy sometimes. I cant seem to lose my tummy either, I'm almost back to pre-preg weight, but have so much more fat everywhere. You're lucky its only on your tum!
I saw a NB bubba today too - i swear Oscky was never that small - you forget so quickly.
Haylealea - OMG so frustrating - Oscar NEVER sleeps in the car, I have to be at home. I forgot my wallet at the shops the other day too (and we live a heck of a lot closer to them than that) and I was so cranky i felt like throwing myself down on the carpark floor and beating my fists into the ground. I totally see where toddlers are coming from, but managed to restrain myself!
Chippy - My friend's baby self-weaned at nine months and was eating so much solid food and getting 3 serves of calcium a day, that the nurse said it was fine to let her wean as long as she also had 100mL of water each day. I know that seems like nothing, but apparently they get so much water in their food that they dont need it unless they're thristy. Talk to the nurse about it, you might find its okay to drop to 2 feeds or less a day if thats all she wants?
Wrapping - We're going well without wraps. He slept through last night and we have REALLY loud roadworks - they're digging and resurfacing - right outside his window from 7pm till 5am and he actually stayed asleep - what a miracle! I think he was just too hot in them at night, poor kid, he'd wake up sweating. I feel much better now and it also means other people can put him to bed cause he doesn't need his "mummy induced straightjacket" anymore.
BTW Does anyone know where I can buy summer weight sleeping bags (just cotton ones?) Couldn't find them in KMart, Target or Toys r us and refuse to pay $30+ in a rip-off baby store.
Ecky I bought a 0.5 tog the lightest weight and now taylor won't go to sleep without it. It cost me $45 plus $10 postage from ******* (online) but it was well worth the extra money for the quality. I had one from target and wasted my money on it. If you go online to the ******* store you can get discontinued patterns like I did, cheaper. I'm sure bubs couldn't care less what colour they are in. I've never seen a light weight one from a regular retail store, but have seen them at the bub shops. I would spend $100 knowing how well my baby sleeps in hers.
I'm confused about the weaning thing. How do you wean off 3 feds? Drop the middle one right? Thats easy I reackon, but i'm sure my supply has to fall. And why do i have to do it 2 months in advance, or start now as Lala suggested? Is it meant to take that long? And just say taylor decided she's over it and I lose my milk, what does she drink for 2 months? She already has about 200ml of water a day, its hot here and she just loves it. Plus all her dairy.... do I just not give her cows milk till over 12 months? Ahhh I thought this would be easy!
Hmmm looks like Bubhub has a problem with the store I purchased from. Thats weird! Never seen that before! But i'm sure you can google and find out:)
Eckey gotta laugh at your tantrum! I know where you're coming from - sometimes I want to have one too!!
I got a Grobag from the baby shop, but got a discontinued colour so it was cheaper. Alexi loves hers too and won't sleep without it - it's part of the routine. I think I've seen some light weight ones at Pumpkin Patch, but not sure how much they cost. Igot winter ones from Target, but haven't seen any light weight ones there.
Chippy I think it depends on how you want to wean - more suddenly or gradually, which can ease both baby and your boobs into it! I spoke to the Australian Breastfeeding Association and the woman I emailed suggested doing it gradually where you say drop a feed by feeding like normal, then stopping for one day, then feeding again, then going a few more days, until the baby is used to not having it. She said that cows milk isn't needed to 'replace' breastmilk, that solids replaces breastmilk, and that cows milk is just a good source of calcium - she said that some babies drink a lot and some don't like it at all and get their calcium from cheese and yoghurt etc. So that's what I meant by starting soon - in the sense that if you want to be weaned at 12 months, it's unlikely you'll start the process at 12 months, you'll probably start it in some small way before 12 months because it can be a gradual process. If that makes sense. To be honest, I have absolutely no idea myself and it still freaks me out too!!

Hi March 08 Mums,
Well its 4.30am and I can't sleep so I thought I would jump on bubhub just like the old times and catch up on everybodys news.
I had so much trouble finding where the new group was - maybe we should post a link in Due Dates again incase anymore are trying to find.
Anyway you might remember me I think we were one of the first March mums to birth due to Tilly being two weeks early.
Matilda Gracie May born 26th February. Drug free Birth - loooooong labour. Happily still breastfeeding.
She is doing well. Not crawling yet so it was good to read that some other bubs still no progress here also. No teeth either :)
Actually all this searching has made me tired again - will be back soon
Anyone else considering TTC again soon?
Glad to hear everybody well - can't believe nearly a year has passed.
Anyone else depressed about having to go back to work :geek:and put bub in kindy
Look forward to staying in touch in 2009

I just lost my post thanks to dd2:hair:
Moostar- gr8 to see you back and hear how Tilly is going. The new year has bought some peiole back to the thread which is gr8- Ido always wonder how the bubs are going. I am already back at work- just 3 days a week- have been since september ast year. Mum helps me out with the 2 little ones- which helps alot esp in the $$$sense- could not afford child care I dont think.
Weaning- sorry cant offer advice there- feel like I am struggling with it myself- the other two self weaned but this forced weaning is very tiring physically, mentally and emotionally.
Lala- meant to make commment about your friends after reading about their abay- but ended up forgetting. It is a very hard thing to deal with- even though babies with downs have a very positive outlook- still there is a stage of grieving in re: to not being able to produce a "perfect" child as in a child with no problems or what some would call "normal". I knew a girl a few years back who was 17 when she had her son and he was Downs- and everyone was so amazed as they thought it was usually due to age- but not always. Be there to support them as their journey into acceptance is only beginning (majored in special education- there is like a 17 step process from realising your child has a problem, til acceptance).
Veyr hot here today- already been out for a walk this morning- and it was quite hot then! Feeling bit burnt around my ears and face. Phoebe is asleep again:smiliedance: this wrapping thing has been the key- might actually have her sorted out in that dept!!!!
thanks 3divas. I worked with people with disabilities in my job, but they were adults, not kids. From what I understand he seems to have a mild case. I can imagine there would be so many stages to go through when coming to terms with it - as a parent you think a certain way without even realising it, and then it would all just have to be changed - your thinking would change. They're in a very supportive family as her mum has worked with special needs kids and her sister in law was in the same field I was in, so she has a lot of understanding which is great. I don't actually know her - I'm friends with her sister in law, but the story just affected me.
Hi Moostar, yes I'm feeling a bit crappy about the idea of going back to work. I've told them I don't want to go back full time, but might consider something on a casual basis. My friend (the same one from the story above) is working there casually cos she has a little boy and she's told the boss that she wants to get rid of some of her work because she can't cope, and suggested offering it to me. That freaks me out. I don't know if I want it or not - I do for the money, but I don't want to actually DO it! Do you know how much you can earn before you miss out on family tax benefit?
I'm actually meeting my boss and another colleague today for lunch (I'm friends with both of them) and I'm feeling a bit nervous about it. It's not a work discussion, just a catch up but it's so close to work it scares me a bit. Plus going on how Alexi has been during lunches lately, I'm worried about that too. It's so much less stressful visiting with people who have kids rather than people who don't. I really don't want to go, but I know i'm just being silly.
And to top it off, Alexi has just woken half an hour earlier than I wanted her to!! Now she'll have been awake for at least an hour already by the time we see them, which'd be fine if she was able to crawl around, but not when she's going to be strapped in her stroller.
That's great on the wrapping doing so well for Phoebe!!

Hi there Sara, thats cool our bubs are only 15mins apart.
Lala ~ i know what you mean about meeting with friends when you have a baby to look after as well... you just cant talk and catch up properly with a bub around can u! its so much easier when ur alone then u can actually fully listen and take in what the other person is saying! thats why i mostly catch up with friends on the day grace is in daycare/with XDF. one really good friend of mine has kids and they are little terrors so i dont feel so bad having grace when im with her! lol
Going back to work is scary isnt it! i am not going back to my job i had before grace, but i would like to get a job (i dont really care what) just mainly for money and to get myself out of the house and maybe meet other people and be social.
What is everyone getting bubs for their 1st birthday??
I have no idea!
My mum & dad are getting her a really nice wooden table and chair set, which is a great idea i think, that will last her for years!

Hi Everyone...
first birthday presents Im going to get Shelley one of them little ride on car things (the foot powered ones) DS had one that had been handed down through all his cousins and it finally broke about 3 months ago lol. They get lots of use out of them and all the kids i have known have loved them. This one was just a basic one, but im thinking of getting her the little people brand ones, that play music etc...have little pianos on the front etc. Shelley LOVES to dance so she would think that was pretty cool! they can also be used as a walker to walk behind so thats what im going to get her. Maybe some megablocks aswell. She loves DS's and he has a major problem with sharing at the moment :laughing: and you can get some really nice girls ones out there - and they last for ages too.
Moostar - good to see you back! Glad to hear Tilly is going well. Im not returning to work at this stage. Im a SAHM.
Chippy - im not sure about the whole weaning process but i have heard from other friends that have BF for so long its better to do it slowly (much better for bubs and your BOOBS!)
Im not sure who was worried about their bub self weaning and not wanting to put them on formula etc and them being too young for cows milk. If they are eating very well and having a few serves of a dairy there really shouldnt be a problem. Bubs are almost 11 months old, i plan on giving DD cows milk from 11.5 months (watered down) and go from there. They have been BF for so long already (so they have had a pretty good start to life!) I know Shelley isnt dairy intollerent because she has yoghurt, cheese, milk on her cereal and it hasnt bothered her at all.
3 divas - thats great with the wrapping. Shelley is still lightly wrapped and i think its the only way to go with her. She is ALWAYs out of her wrap by about an hour after i put her down but it comforts her while im feeding and putting her to bed. I love your new Avatar by the way - you and your DD1 look alot alike!
Ok i better get motivated im heading into town today to do the groceries and visit my sister.
Talk soon.

1st bday pressies- I have already got Phoebes bought. I got her a stride to ride lion- was going to give it to her for xmas but considering she was nowhere near crawling I thought it could wait til March- I have her some other little things aswell to go with that. Hayleylea- DD2 got one of those cars last week for her bday- she just loves it- if we go somewhere where those cars are, cant get her out of them!!
Going for lunch today with girls from work- before we return next week- Lala- I am leaving the kids with my MIL- Taking one is difficut- taking 2 woud be impossible for me!
Hope you all have a gr8 day!
Ohoh, I haven't seen those cars hayley - little people brand did you say? It sounds great because like Shelley Alexi LOVES dancing so that would be awesome. And she's been in her cousins wiggles car and she absolutely loved that - thought it was hilarious and seemed to understand somehow that it was supposed to move forwards.
The lunch yesterday went well thank God. Alexi was in a great mood which made it a lot easier. I don't mind as much if she's a **** infront of other mums, but in front of people who aren't parents it's a lot harder. But she was great, I was so happy. Work want me back, they asked what they can offer me to get me back, and said that if I want 8 hours a week I can have it. I'm a little freaked out. I don't know what to do! I'll have to get the details first and then see if it's worth it.
Alexi is turning 10 months in 2 days - I kept saying to people yesterday that she was 9 months until I realised she's actually closer to 10. Time flies.
Lala - I cant believe Oscky's nearly ten months either - time really does fly.
Moostar - welcome back, I 've just returend too and kept forgetting to bookmark this page and forgetting how to get back in here, so a link to the due dates would be great. I go back to work on Friday week and am dreading it.
3 Divas - After I caved last night and wrapped oscky, it took almost an hur to get him to go to sleep again this morning. You're lucky phoebe will let you do naps with and overnight without. Oscar screamed for 2hours before he went down for the night. I finally wrapped him and put him in a sleeperhold and sat infront of the fan rocking. I think there's another tooth coming. He didnt go to sleep till 10 after only having 45 minutes of sleep all day (13 hours long)! I was so disappointed, we've done so well losing the wraps this week, but he kept pulling the dummy out and playng and getting into crawling position. He was so tired, but couldn't get to sleep.
Does anyone else's baby get up on all fours in their cot and drag themselves around and then scream cause they're on all fours when they want to go to sleep? What do you do to settle them for sleep from that position?
Oscar's only just stopped being wrapped and i think he didn't realise there was a cot position other than front or back before now.
I made the mistake of just plomking him in the cot on all fours when i went to get the phone a couple of days ago and ever since then its as if he's discoverd that he can actually be in that position in the cot.
I think cause oscky isn't crawling or putting himself into sitting position yet he just doesn't know how to get out of the all fours position, so he cries till i comeand put him back on his back again. What else can you do?
I dont want to have to stay in there till he falls asleep... till he's like 10... Cause i cant get him out of that sleep association too...
Alexi has been super grumpy baby today. I think she feels a little warm too so don't think she's feeling too well.
Eckey, Alexi can crawl so I don't have that problem now, but I used to have a similar problem when she started rolling. She could only roll onto her tummy so she'd do that in her cot and get upset because she couldn't roll back, and at that stage she never slept on her tummy. I'd just have to go in quickly and put her back on her back, and she'd usually resettle.
That's a long time for no sleep - never a good thing. Teeth can really undo all the good work you've been doing. I think Alexi's grumpyness and fever is due to her teeth too.

Lunch was really nice today- til I got a call from my FIL to come home casue Phoebe had been screaming non stop for an hour:hair: Atleast we had eaten and everything- we were just sitting and talking, so had to finish up early. She would not take a bottle for my MIL or FIL- and was just really miserable!!!!
Eckey- Phoebe sits herself up in bed now and screams- that is when she is not wrapped- thats annoying!! If she just laid there she would probably go off to sleep.
Lala- Hope Alexi starts cheering up soon- ithink Phoebes unsettled behaviour is tooth related too- she has cut her 4th and they are slowly making their way down!
OMG so hot here today! and there was no breeze whatsoever, so it was just terrible.
grace tends to sleep more on hot days just cos the heat is so exhausting for her... and me!
There is a new baby/kids play centre thing here so i might check that out over the next few days. hopefully they have air conditioning! haha.
Grace gets on all fours, sits up & stands up in her cot when she is ready to get up, or if she just wakes up and cant get back to sleep or if its dark and she cant find her dummy.
About 2 or 3 days ago her 8th tooth cut through! :)
So she has a mouth full of teeth! we have a family joke that we will be able to give her a full steak to eat by her 1st birthday! haha...
some of you may remember that i posted about grace being constipated about a week ago. well i was told by the chemist to give her coloxyl drops for few days and if that didnt work we could try a suppository.
Well it was 2 weeks that she had been constipated so i was assuming that we would do the suppository. but then she did 3 REALLY gastro/diahorea like poos in 24 hours. so i took her to the CHN and she said no dont do a suppository, and to just do the coloxl drops day-by-day.
(for instance, she didnt do a poo today so in the morning i will give her some drops.)
So i am glad that we dont have to go through the whole up-the-bum thing, although i would really like to be able to give her something that will clear it up and go back to normal. the day-to-day thing is a bit of a pain but oh well i spose in time her body will sort itself out and she will go back to normal.
3divas - glad you had a good lunch!! even though u got the phone call. its terrible when that happens.

Yes soooooooo humid today and more hot weather coming up. Nice rain and cool breeze at the moment though.
I had my mother's group catch up today down at the beach it was so lovely. There are 15 of us and between 10-13 manage to meet each time. We all really clicked and have girls nights out and walk some mornings. They really have been savours over the last months, keeping my sanity. A really good network of friends.
Does anyone else still see their mothers group? (besides this "on-line" mother's group :goodvibes:
I havn't been rapping Matilda for months now as she kept getting out of it and I had a couple of scary experiences where I found her in the morning with the wrap around her head etc etc. It was then that I decided to buy her a sleeping bag, which has been great up until now as she has worked out how to move around the cot in it. But I guess it was just a matter of time - time to move the mattress down a notch I think.
Slow to crawl, but getting there - won't be long next few weeks I would say :smiliedance:

Hi just read back through past threads
Kyanna's Mum - I saw that Sheldon was wearing a georgeous stone necklace. Is that amber to help with teething? A friend suggested it to me also?
Cheryl78 - wow can't believe your bub has so many words and talking so early. I thought Dog would be one of Matilda's first words as I am constantly saying "look at the dogs" "where are the dogs". All we have heard so far is Daaaaadddaaa. Have you been doing anything special to help the speach?
Lala7 - Have you resolved the AF issues. I have heard that they come back once your baby has dropped all night feeds (so I guess it is payback for those who get bubs who sleep early through the night ha ha). Coincidently as I am going back to work in Feb I have been weaning Tilly back to 2 feeds a day. I am pretty much doing what the CHC nurse told you but just fluked it --- so good to hear im doing the "right" thing.
Little Freckle - good luck TCC. I might be joining you soon :yelclap:
Shan - Tilly is on the 5% also. Don't worry there is a big variation between bubs 3 months - 12 months. Then they generally catch up to eachother. Try to feed lots of full fat diary, milk on cereal, cream cheese on toast, vegies in white sauce and advocado is also a good one to "fatten" them up on
Eckey - any progress on the crawling yet?
3divas sorry to hear about your lunch - at least you got to spend a bit of time with friends baby free. I met some friends for coffee on the weekend while dh looked after Alexi. It's great to not have to worry about a babies moods and stuff so you can really talk.
Sara Alexi has a lot of teeth too - not quite the 8 Grace has, but she has 6 and it seems like more are on the way if her moods are anything to go by. They all popped up within 1 month and a half too, so it happened really quickly. I thought she'd never have teeth and then all of a sudden she has a mouth full!!
Good you don't have to do the suppository - gosh, not a nice thing for anyone, let alone a little baby. So the sloppier poo is normal then? Is that what the coloxyl does?
Moostar wow that's a LOT in your mothers group!! How do you organise so many people?! I still catch up with my mothers group although it was only 7 to start with, and now 6 of us meet up but not everyone meets each time cos of work and stuff. They're some great girls too, I'm really happy I have my mothers group, except it's getting a little frustrating at the moment. Two of us are the ones to always have to decide where we're meeting, and recently we've needed to change days but it's such a headache getting anyone to have input and yet once we decide something someone inevitably has a problem with it. Very annoying. The problem with my group too is that most of us eventually want to move out of the area, which will obviously make it harder to meet up. I'd say 3 of them I'm particularly close to. One of them is pregnant again already.
Yes, Alexi can move around the cot in her sleeping bag too. She can crawl in it too.
Nope, still haven't resolved the AF issues, although still feeling crampy just no more blood aside from what I had the other morning. Plus I've got all these pimples suddenly so I guess something hormonal is going on. I can feel all this stuff happening in my stomach too. I'm still a little concerned as to why I bled for no apparent reason but just hoping it's to do with AF. Alexi was sleeping through the night from 5 weeks, so I've been pretty lucky to not get AF back for so long. Two of my friends got theirs back within 6 weeks of the birth which is unfair!
Alexi has been sounding like she's trying to say actual words so much lately. Sometimes I'll say something eg 'Russell' which is the cats name and I swear she repeats it but then she doesn't do it again so I don't know if i'm imagining it! I think she says 'dog' too but without the 'g', and just 'mum' 'dad' and 'nan' - and 'oh oh' occasionally, but everything else just seems to be a one off.

 Lala7 - we do a roster for our mothers group, so each week someone is responsible for organizing the venue. Sometimes it is at someone's house and we all bring a plate, other times a cafe (although this has quickly become a think of the past, too many crawlers :) So we now have it at park or the beach. It's pretty easy to organise, I think because everybody enjoy's it so much they make the effort to come. We have been lucky and most mums back to work are part time and have organised not to work Wednesdays which is when our group is.
Anyone els's bub starting daycare this year

OMG Phoebe has slept through- for the first time:yelclap: She went down about 10 pm, it is almost 7:30 am and she is still asleep! So as you can imagine, my boobs are the size of watermelons:laughing:
Moostar- sounds like a lovely mums group- never joined one- wish I had as when I reflect on my mat leave it was quite a lonely time- just me and the 2 kids all the time. I am a bit nervous when it comes to group situations- I am fine once I settle in- its just the getting there and meeting people taht freaks me out!
Sara- glad Grace has started pooing again- it is horrible when they are constipated- not much fun for us- so cant be too good for them either.
Lala- I ahve been the same re: a/f- since that liitle bit of blood the other day- nothing ut have been feeling a bit crampy and have had a sore lower back which has always been associated with a/f.
She is awake- finally- better go and relieve the pressure in my chest!!

Hey guys just read through a whole bunch of posts. Not sure ill be able to do all the personals but ill touch base with some of the subjects!
lala I dont think i explained myself too well with the little car things for christmas presents. There are lots of different brands. The little people ones are good though, but there are a few other brands that play music etc...theres nother ones you can attach little circus animals on the back so they follow etc. They sit on them (stradle them with their legs) and some have steering wheels and some have bike handles (hope that explained it a bit better). The seat flips up so they can put stuff under the lid and there are other activites on some of them. You can get really cheap ones without music etc for $15 then they range up to around $50.
mothers group No i dont have a mothers group. Kinda wish i did but i was attending playgroup with DS so I just used that as my mothers group. In the process of changing playgroups though because I wasnt that happy with my last one. Shelley will enoy playgroup now too just got to find the right one for both kids!
Cot crawling Shelley bashes around her cot all night, she is a restlelss little one lol. But she has been sleeping through the the last few months every night so i cant complain. When she is awake for the morning she will yell out Mummmmmmmmm Mummmmm. And when i get there she is standing up holding on to the sides. lol I have a cot toy hanging off the side of the cot too that she often has a play with before getting up.
Kid free lunches etc - are alot easier. Its a hard age too with our bubs...crawlers are a hard stage for going places because they hate being confined to thepram but they cant actually crawl around. 3divas - no good about pheobe not taking a bottle for your perants. She is a stubborn little one (but well done for her sleeping through!)
teeth Shelley has 7 and the rest of her mouth is lumps and bumps so im pretty sure theres more to follow soon. my DS was a really fast teether, he had all his teeth (except his molars) before he was one!
Us - We had a rough old day again yesterday. Had to take my dog to the vet (had a grass seed stuck in his foot). Got to the vet...i turn around Shelley looked at me and spewed EVERYWHERE. Projectile vomit for about a minute. YUCK! Very unusual for her - she never vomits. So i change her. Take the dog in, he has to get sedated and i cant get him for 3 HOURS! GRRR! So i then go to my sisters where Shelley was so whingy and i couldnt even put her down which is unlike her. Another vomit. Anyway finally get the dog on our way home and i get hit but a sudden wave of sickness and i have to stop and throw up. All night i felt so sick, stomach cramps etc. Shelley slept all night which is a good sign she is sleeping it off. Poor little thing.
another subject. Has anyone had a christening or naming day? we had a naming day for DS when he was 6 months old. WIth DF working away its been so HARD to organise one so we are thinking of having a joint first birthday and naming day! In the process of organising it all now.
Anyway my mum is coming up today to give me a break :smiliedance: I think i better tidy up before hand.
TAlk soon
Oh Hayley you poor thing! At least you can rest when your mum arrives!
3divas i know what you mean about watermelons lol i have weaned Korby and my boobs have been so so sore over the past 2 weeks. They are still big and are only now decreasing. Korby kicks me when i 'try' to change his nappy and the pain almost sends me through the roof. I'm now in 'normal' Bra's yeah i had to go and buy new ones as it feels like i have been wearing mat bras for years!
Korby was up screaming lat night i'm not sure what was happening poor darling. He wouldn't settle it was past 1am before we got to bed! It was super hot last night so maybe it was the heat!
Wow Grace has 8 teeth she will be able to have a steak soon lol. Korby still has only 4 with no real sign of any more! He can say mumma, dada or daaaaaddaa ta and waves goodbye! He is walking around the furniture he looks so tiny to be doing that! He now weighs in at 8.2kg so we are finally moving forward! Thanks for the tip i will try and get beef him up!

22-01-2009, 09:45
Shan - i hope Korby is Ok. hope he slepts better for you tonight.
Speaking of watermelons  Shelley LOVES watermelon! she cant get enough of it!
yeah im feeling a bit better now. I really dont know if Shelley and I were throwing up because of a bug or a coincidence. I mean something was obvoiusly going on with Shelley, but I have had REALLy bad (EXTREMELY) bad stomach cramps and I should be ovulating around about now. Since my period has come back -i have had it 2 times now, i have got REALLY sick, throwing up etc. So it could be just ovulating. Oh great! I hope its just my body getting into the swing of things i hope it doesnt happen like this every time!
Oh dear, I think the grumpyness from yesterday has followed us into today....noooo!!! Alexi was in a really bad mood this morning, and has already woken after a really short nap. I'm putting off going in there because I don't feel like the grumpyness at the moment.
Moostar, we just decided yesterday to do a roster where everyone has to decide where to go too. Before we did have a roster but it was always two of us figuring it out and in the end it was abandoned. A much better way now I think. I agree, cafes are to hard with crawlers. Somewhere they can move is definitely a lot better, weather permitting.
3divas yay for sleeping through - sounds like she might be turning a corner with her sleeping!!
Hayley that sounds like a nasty day - very gross! And really annoying you get sick around ovulation. Before getting pregnant I used to get really bad ovulation pains _ i'd be doubled over - so I'm a bit scared about that all happening again.
We had a christening for Alexi when she was 5 months. I think it's a good idea to combine it with the first birthday.
Shan, poor little Koby. I hope he's okay today.
Okay, don't think I can put it off any longer....in I go.....

Lala- Poor Alexi- something must be the matter- teeth? So hard when they cant tell you whats wrong.
Hayleylea- hope you and Shelley are feeling better today. I got the car thing wrong too- dd2 got one of those big plastic car things that you sit in and its like the flinstone mobile- push with your feet? They are quite ugly... but the kids love em.
Shan- heat ...... teeth....? Who knows its that age I think where they really let you know there is something wrong- but for us its a guessing game!:hair:
Phoebe is asleep again- this is great- having a successful week on the sleep front- was 1 task to get under control this week- and its going well- the other is the bottle which I am still working on.
hayleylea
22-01-2009, 14:18
3divas - yep i know the cars you mean ds has one! nah im just talking about the cheaper sort for little tikes lol. another idea for a first birthday is the little plastic foot powered trikes! they love them
1st Birthday - My FIL got Taylor a push pedal car trike thing. I thought that would have to be a bit eary for her to be riding in? Surely they have to be pretty steady on their feet to use one?
Mothers Group - I don't really have one, I usually go to the community centre where they have dancing and nursery rhymes every morning except Fridays and school holidays. I've met mums through there and meet up with them sometimes. I'm going a bit mad lately, this house is too small and I rack my brain every day where I can take a crawler. Shopping centre is no good cause she wants to get out of pram all the time. This morning I took her to the local library to get their story time program and she had a great time crawling around there. I'm forever looking for crawler friendly things to do with her.
Diva congrats on Phoebe sleeping thru!!! If you didn't have to boob feed it would have been a good opportunity to shove some solids in while she is starving LOL But we can't have it all right!
Lala how is Alexi? Still grumpy? We had a shocker yesterday too. When she went down for her first nap of the day after being up 3 hours, she woke after 20 minutes. I actually did cry  because I am so tired from doing this all on my own, I really need that hour or so a day to just be me. But I got over it pretty quickly and we had a nice day after that. I got her (me!) a play pen off ebay for $41 so now I can at least take her up to work and she plays in it. She has 2 new toys in there that she only ever see's when she's in there so its always exciting for her. And yesterday I wrapped her and put her to sleep for 40 mins in the arvo. I couldn't believe she slept in it also!

Chippy- Wrapping has been my key to success this week- had not thought it could still work, but got another 3 1/2 hour sleep out of Phoebe again today.
How many sleeps are your bubs having a day? How long are they?
hayleylea
22-01-2009, 17:53
3divas - Shelley most days only has one sleep and it works really well for us - its around 3-3.5 hours! sometime she has 2 and they are 1-2 hours each.
3Divas&me
22-01-2009, 20:12
Yeah I am finding with these long sleeps that Phoebe is only having 1 a day- sometime 2 but the 2nd a short 30-40 minute sleep. DD2 was having 2 sleeps a day til she was about 15 months but they are all different.
Phoebe had a poo explosion tonight out the back of her nappy- was so gross!
Today has been shocking. Grumpy baby was out with a vengeance this morning and not sleeping at all. I was about to cry myself so went to mum's. Alexi perked up in the early afternoon, but then went back to grumpy at the end and not sleeping. Just took her temp and poor thing has a temp of 38.2. Makes me feel sick actually. I've given her panadol - is there anything else I should do? When is it so high that we'd have to take her to hospital??
As for naps, Alexi usually has 2-3 naps a day depending on how long her first one goes for. Her naps are usually around 1.5/2 hours with a short one being an hour and a long one being 3. 3.5 hours is great from phoebe!! I wish Alexi would let me wrap her if you're having so much luck with that - but no way she'd let me anymore.
3Divas&me
22-01-2009, 20:47
Lala- as you read on f/b Bridgets temp was 39.6- but the panadol had brought it down -which is good. As long as Alexi is still drinking fluids regularly there is no need for hospital unless you are really worried about her. It is important that they dont dehydrate when their temps are so high. Wet nappies are a good indication that they are getting enough fluids- if they are dry- assume they are not. Hope Alexi gets better soon.
Thanks 3divas. We snuck in and took her temp again while she was sleeping (and she farted while we were doing it!!) and the panadol had brought it down which is good. What's the normal range for temperature? I always forget!

How funny- about the fart!!
I think normal range is about 35-37- anything over the 37 is considered getting high- over 38 I was told indicates an infection????
hayleylea
23-01-2009, 09:32
lala- how is Alexi today? temps 39 or higher can be dangerous and lead to convulsions. Im very wary about high temps as I have had Cooper at the hosptial with a few in his life and if over 39 ive had to stay till its down...If panadol brings it down within 30 minutes its a good sign! Other symptoms aswell as a high temp would determine whether i took my kids to the hospital too, how lethargic etc they were...alertness etc.
Ok better head off.
Talk soon
Lala when Tay had her high temp I was told by the doctor to take her to the hospital only if 1. Panadol did not reduce her temp or 2. She was very lethargic and non responsive. I sponged her forehead with a wet flannel, let her sleep on me, went from 3 boob feeds a day to 8 to keep nutrients, antibodies, and fluids up as well as offering water all the time. I took her in the shower with me too a few times and that helped a lot. Is she any better today?
Diva if taylor stays up for 3 hours in the morn her first sleep is about 1.5-2 hrs. Any less awake time and its 40min. Then around 2pm she will have another but its only ever 30-40 mins. She wants to be a big girl lately and stay up till 7pm....I swear she can tell the time already, but she's not sleeping in any longer!
Thanks guys. This morning her temp was 38.3 again so we gave her more panadol. She actually seems in a better mood though and was smiling and laughing, although still seeming tired too. She's still been eating fine, which is good, but I'm taking her to the dr today anyway just to make sure they can't see anything like an ear problem or something.
Turns out I have to go to the dr too. This morning I noticed a rather large lump in my under arm. I'm freaking out. Trying to tell myself it's mastitis, blocked duct, ingrown hair, anything except the worst option which just makes me feel sick. Has anyone had anything like this before? It feels tender even when I'm moving my arm a bit, but I've had some panadol and it SEEMS to be a bit better. I've been having some issues with my razor so am wondering if it could just be an ingrown hair?? My boob itself feels okay, although the past few nights I've had occasional aches in it - not too bad but just more than normal.
Hi Ladies
I'm back and all settled finally. It was a fantastic trip catching up with all the family and little Blake had a ball meeting everyone and getting showered with affection. I see you've all been very busy posting so I'll have to go back and have a read. Happy New Year all! I can't believe our little bubbas are getting so big and are almost 1!! Where did the time go? Blake is on his feet now and so so close to walking. In the four weeks we were away he went from just learning to crawling to climbing over everything. Amazing how fast it all happens.
Lala - I often get lumps under my armpit, particularly if I've not fed Blake as much that day. I think it's a build up of milk. I usually give it a massage in the shower.
3Divas&me
23-01-2009, 14:10
Morgan- good to see you back with is- how long were you away for?
Lala- I have felt lumps too, but I try to keep in check- sometimes they come and go and have thought maybe associated with feeding- but still wise to get it checked anyways. Hope your Dr appointment goes well.
My DD2 is still very sick- Dr did not seem concerned that it reached 39.8 this morning- did give panadol and it came down to 38.5- it was over 39 when we did see him. She has tonsilitis- which I knew- just need the Dr to confirm and give me a prescription- cant give her the a/b yet til I have got a urine sample- and the little bugger wont drink!
I hope Phoebe does not get it or me for that matter as my 30th is on this weekend- I am actually looking forward to it- going out- having a few drinks etc- just watch something come and stuff that up for me!!
So need to get back to work- house full of guests this w/e and my house is no where near ready to accomodate them!!
hayleylea
23-01-2009, 14:34
3divas - your poor DD2 tonsilitis sucks!!!ds andd dd have ad it and its not fun, i think its pretty hard to catch so i hope your right for your 30th! have a great time!!
lala hope all goes well with the doctor
morganj good to see you back!
Well we're both on antibiotics. Alexi's throat was red and she still had a mild temp, and my lump is just an infectionh - phew!! So a bit of antibiotics going on in our house at the moment, but much much better than some of the stuff that was going through my head!!
3divas that does suck about the tonsilitis. I hope she gets better and your 30th is a lot of fun - I saw on facebook people keep pulling out? I still can't believe how many birthdays you have around the same time in your house!!
Who is active on facebook? I just found Diva but realized I have no idea what anyones real names are to add them! I am Vanessa if anyone wants to add me, that might be easier:)
Lala how is Alexis temp tonight? It sux when they are sick huh.
Diva I hope DD2 is feeling better too.
Lately when taylor is sleeping, and wakes up, I have noticed where her head is, its saturated the bed. I didn't think much of it at first and thought she might have had a spew in her sleep, but i'm noticing every day now. Its only happened in the last week...she has become a head sweater! How does that just suddenly happen? Hubby is a head sweater, to the point where I NEVER swap pillows with him haha so maybe she is the same? Anyone else notice this?
Cheryl78
23-01-2009, 20:41
Chippy - Alex sweats heaps when he sleeps too - not so much here at home in Canberra as its a bit cooler at night and not as humid, but when we holidayed in Brisbane at Christmas time the pillow i've been laying him on to sleep was saturated and the back of his head was like he had just had shower!! Apparently my niece is the same - it could just be a baby thing???
3divas - Haven't done anything super-special with Alex's language acquistion - but i do talk to him all the time and we've been reading to him since he was 3 weeks old - I also point to things a lot and say the word when he looks at things with curiosity. His first word was Mummummum! We used to always look in the mirror when we were in his bedroom and i'd point to him and say "baby Alex" and then point to myself and say "mum". He loves looking at himself in the mirror!! Also I hope your 30th birthday goes well and that bubs aren't too sick. I had my 30th in november - we went to Tassie - it was great and passed without too much depression...lol
Lala - so glad that your lump was nothing too sinister - its certainly very scary - my boobs don't get too lumpy - but I have notice quite a few stretch marks :( which sucks.
Alex has just started standing up without holding onto anything!
Chippy my name is Sara on Facebook...obviously hahaha!
Grace has been sleeping so much lately cos of the hot hot weather! although she still goes to bed at the same time of a night (usually between 8pm - 8.30pm). she still seems to be waking up at around 6am in the mornings, unfortunately!
She usually has 2-3 day sleeps, the length of them varies alot. sometimes its 30mins, sometimes 1.5hrs. no longer than 1.5hrs though.
Do u guys actually brush ur bubs teeth?
Or do u pretty much just give the toothbrush to them to chew on?
I usually just give her toothbrush to her when she is in the bath and she chews on it, sometimes i will actually give them a bit of a brush... if she will let me.
Omg i tried a boysenberry drumstick yesterday SOOO good!!
I have never seen boysenberry ones up until yesterday!
hayleylea
25-01-2009, 07:36
Sara - yeah i brush Shelleys teeth - as good as i can anyway. Its good to actually try and brush their teeth to get it use to it when they are older.
So I brush her teeth and then give her the toothbrush to chew on etc.
Hi Ladies
Yeah we try and brush Blake's teeth or use a face cloth to wipe them at least. The problem is we do this in the bath and then he finishes his bottle while we dry him off, so I guess we should be doing it after his bottle!!
What is everyone doing for bub's first birthday? Are you going to include your Mother's Group? I don't know whether to have a bbq with our friends/family and then do something separate at the play centre we go to with all Blake's friends from Mother's Group and play group.
Cheryl78
25-01-2009, 09:52
I give Alex the brush to chew on in the bath and then give them a little brush just before he goes to bed.
First birthday - wow - can't believe it is so close - not sure what we are doing yet - thinking a little party with some close friends - i want to do a bit of theme - but not go too overboard - i can't decide between a pirate theme or a dinosaur theme though - both are popular so it won't be hard to find material for either.
We do brush her teeth for as long as she will let us. I don't let her chew on it as I don't want her to associate it with her toys. But I do let her chew on the stage 2 brush thats old now(the rubber one).
We went to a 1st birthday yesterday, they had a million people there. They played one game with older kids, then treasure hunt for a little present. The older kids had to find the babies gifts and give to them which I thought was cute. So not really a party party for kids, but they had fun playing and swimming in the pool. They did have a hire cubby house and play gym for the older kids too. I really don't know what we will do. Our place is too small. We are going to one in the park in a few weeks so i'll see what that one is like.
One thing that I can't stand is Dad's giving sips of beer to their kids. I find this discusting and have no idea why you would do it. Apart from the Dad's/Mum's getting a laugh and thinking its cute...yeh, real funny. I saw one as young as 10 months having beer last week.
chippy - i totally agree with u about the beer! my XDF gives his (almost) 5yr old son coke and i dont agree with that either. there is just no need for it. i dont see a need for any fizzy drinks to be given to young kids, maybe one small cup of lemonade at like a birthday party or something like that but not on an everyday basis.
Im my opinion that is just teaching kids bad habits. Same as junk and take away foods, on special occasions yes or every so often as a treat but young kids just dont need it!!
We are teachers in regards to life habits... food, manners, routines, treating people nicely etc...
We try to brush Alexi's teeth but she does just end up chewing on it by the end.
First birthday our mothers group is doing a combined party for all the kids, and then I'll do something separate with family. Probably go to a park. The weather can be a bit hit and miss, but our house is way too small. Trying to figure out who to invite though.
Alexi gets overwhelmed if there are too many people, but we have a big family.
Alexi started getting a splotchy type rash on her face today - I'm not sure if it could be the antibiotics? Either that or the heat cos we were at an engagement breakfast and it was hot (and no space for her to crawl around so she hated it!). Has anyone had allergies to antibiotics?
I wish the heat would make her sleep...again yesterday 20-30 minutes and she's wake up crying. She's been asleep now for 20 minutes so I'm crossing my fingers she stays asleep for a change!

Hey guys- huge w/e for me- thanks for the bday wishes on f/b- ended up having a gr8 night. Glad I dont do it too often with little kids to deal with the next day:laughing:
Teeth brushing- It think it is good to give them a tooth brush to chew on- get use to- and modelling how to do it is gr8 too. Be aware though as I was not when I had dd1- dont let some have too much toothpate- dont let them eat it and dont let them suck on the tube. I had dd1 at the dentist for the first time last year and she has alot of white and yellow marks on her teeth- and they are flouride stains. Yes flouride is good for us- but excessive flouride damages the teeth- the dentist asked if dd1 sucked the toothpaste tube when she was little and I said yes- and she said she sees it all the time- doing that actually damaged the growth and development of the adult teeth. Was not til then that I read the toothpast tube- and did you realise they have warnings on them about how much to give kids- and if it is even suitable for them?? I had not- but very much aware now for the other 2 littlies.
Anyways hope you are having a gr8 Aussie day!!!!

Hi gals,
Hope everyone enjoyed their hubbies being home an extra day - pretty ****ty weather for Aus day but I think after the scorchers this week nobody minded.
No teeth yet for Tills so not had to worry about the teeth thing yet - but good to read everybodies post, those little peggies can't be far away.
3 divas - omg I went out last Friday night too - and wow what a shock the next day (mind you that was the 40 degree stinker). Don't think I will have so many wines next time, Ii think i am still recovering - still last Friday night out now because starting work in a week
Anyone else bummed about starting work again soon - I've got one week left and counting down
Tilly has a cough and fever, not sure if it is the teeth or something else, better go and give her cuddles she is a bit out of sorts
soon x
Hi ladies
Teeth - I don't brush them cause the toothbrush I bought him fell down behind the dishwasher and I cant get it out and am not buying a new one yet. Besides which, I still give him his bottle right before bed and i dont want to wake him up when he's all sleepy-headed to brush two little teeth!
Toothpaste - I did read that you're not actually supposed to give them toothpaste until they're two years old! And then only half the size of your pinkie fingernail!!! I'm hoping brushing at this age is really just practice for later. The only sugar he eats is from fres fruit and he always has a few sips of water before he goes to sleep. I saw DH try to give him some undiluted jiuce yesteday and was most unimpressed!
Sleep / naps - Oh, so bad at the moment. We have two construction sites right across the road at the moment and Oscar's room is right at the front of our unit with no sound muffling from any bushes either. He only slept till the noise started at 7am this morning (after finally going to sleep at 10pm - would not settle after having three naps instead of the usual two yesterdayl THen I finally got him to go back to sleep at 9:30am and this reallly loud drill woke him up a 10:30. SO he screamed cause he didn't want to be awake and then wouldn't go back to sleep again, though I tried for an hour! He usually has 1.5 - 2.5 hours in the morning. THen I couldn't get him down again till 3, so he's only had 11.5 hours sleep and is supposed to be going to bed at 8 - ridiculous. If i let him sleep too long now, he wont sleep tonight...
Grrrrr, I'm so obsessed with how much sleep he gets. It really stresses me out when he has so little for so manu days in a row. Can someone just tell me I'm paranoid and he'll be fine if he hardly gets any sleep...

I went back to work today ater 5 1/3 weeks off- it felt gr8 to have a break from the kids- I left at 8:25am- got home at 4 the 2 little ones were asleep and still sleeping so I have actually not booby fed phoebe since 6am this morning!!!
Eckey- yep- the dentist did say to me try not to give the kids toothpaste til they are atleast 2- even the milk toothpaste.
Moostar- enjoy your last week off before you return to work.
Eckey I know exactly how you feel about the sleep thing - it really stresses me out when Alexi doesn't get enough either. Which has been the case for almost a week now. Day sleeps have just gone to **** still. Thankfully night sleeps are good, but the day is just shocking, and she's constantly tired, and I'm constantly stressed. Blahh!!
Hi,
Thought I would introduce myself. I've been stalking for a couple of days now. I had a DS in March also. I can't believe he will be 1 very soon!
I live in Adelaide with my DF. I like to :ecomcity:
I work, study and look after my DS so it will be an interesting year!

Hayleylea- yep- it certainly is hot today and I work in an area with zero a/c- makes things rather sticky and uncomfortable!
KDG- welcome- what are your bubs details- Name- DOB- etc?
Lala- I love the wrapping thing... since re-introducing it we get good 3- 3 1/2 hour sleeps from Phoebe now- its just fantastic- best she has slept since she was born- lol!
3Divas I would loooooveeee 3-3 1/2 hour sleeps oh my God....we're still having issues here...slightly better than the past week of 20 minute sleeps, we've now progressed to 45 minutes, but it's still not nearly enough for her. She's waking tired and grumpy which then makes me tired and grumpy. Just before she went absolutely mental - and she was up - I have no idea what's going on but I'm sooooooooooooooooooo over it!! Is Phoebe sleeping better at night now too?
3Divas&me
28-01-2009, 19:45
lala- cant say Phoebe is much better at night- I mean we wrap her and put her down about 8-9pm and she usually sleeps til about 2am every morning then she seems to wake every 2 hours til about 7am- its not too bad- but it aint all night either- was gr8 when she dd the all-nighter last week- but I knew it was a one off.
Welcome KDG!! :)
Yes dito lala! - i wouldnt know what to do with myself if grace had 3+hrs sleep during the day!! She has been sleeping longer lately though - from the heat im assuming. lately once or twice a day she will have a 1-1.5hr sleep, as well as one or two shorter 40min sleeps.
It looks though grace is getting both her eye teeth shortly! both gums are white as though there is a tooth right there under the surface. so that means she will have 10 teeth!! eekkk!
I think im going to get grace a dolls pram and a doll for her 1st bday. depending on how much they cost i might get a couple of little things too.
Tonight after her bath she just stood up and started walking along pushing her bike thing she has that sorta converts into a walker/pusher thing. i was in shock!!
She was walking all round the loungeroom and up and down the hallway like she had been doing it for ages!!
I couldnt stop laughing - i couldnt believe my eyes!
Is anyone in the Adelaide or Melbourne area?? (i forget!)
If so, is the heat just unbearable!!?
I dont think i could cope. here we had almost a week of weather around 35 degrees a couple of weeks ago and i almost died! i cant imagine having one week or more of 40+ temperatures!

Im in Sydney and yes it has been v eee rrrr y hot
Well Matilda has officially got 4 weeks to start crawling before her first birthday - went to mg today and little boy one day younger than Tilda was WALKING.
Anyone's else bub not crawling?
Tilly is officially sick - this is the first time she has had a fever so im a bit worried. I think I might take her to the doctor tomorrow??? Is it worth it or do they just tell you to give them panadol?
She has a cough also and wont eat (but still drinking plenty of water). I hope she is a lot better tomorrow. She is supposed to be getting used to daycare and Im supposed to be getting organised for D day (back to work )
off to  hope all get enough
I'm from Adders and the heat is horrible!! I hate the heat on a good day but this is wrong. When I went to pick up DS from childcare today it was still 44.7 and that was at 4pm :crying:
So it apparently got to 45.6C today and tomorrow they're expecting 44-46 and then above 37 until at least Wed. DS didn't really want to sleep but thankfully the air con in the bedroom works well.
3Divas - My DS is called Steven and his bday is 17/3 - which seems to be a popular day I have found.
DS is not a good sleeper either. He wakes around 11-12 then 2-3 then 5-6 then again at 7am. I find that I am just used to it now but would love a night where I got a whole nights sleep!

3divas,KDG and lala - sorry to hear your little ones are still waking at night, Shelley has beenn sleeping through for about a month now, she rarely wakes up unless something is bothering her. She went to sleep at 7.15 last night and she is still there! I have no advice, to be honest i think some kids just are good sleepers and others or not. I dont think there is too much you can do to get them to sleep through, they have to work that bit out themselves. The wrapping etc might help though, make sure they are comfortable in their clothing. And if they wake up maybe try not feeding them - its easier said then done, I know, but sometimes they get use to getting fed during the night so will continue to wake. I dont know if you guys are feeding when they wake up anyway? The thing i found with DS is we would get him sleeping through for a month or so and then more teeth would come and we would have wakes up for a week or two and then get him back sleeping and the cycle continued till he was 12 months old with all his teeth lol. I hope your little ones sleep better tonight - :wizard: sleeping dust to you all.
Sara - WOW grace walking behind her little car - its such an exciting and cute stage! She is buliding her confidence looks like you will have a walker on your hands! Shelley looks like she is getting her eye teeth too *sigh* apparently they hurt the most.
KDG - i dont think i could stand that heat you guys are coping either! thats just insane!
Anyway not up to much today,Cooper has an awful cough and a runny nose so we will just be bumming around the house. I got a blow up jumping castle (not with the compresser but its still pretty big) for $8 at a garage sale. Cooper has been asking me for a trampoline for ages, was going to get it at christmas time but decided id wait till this year so it can be a joint one for both him and Shelley (cause they are so expensive!) So this will keep him happy till then - and Shelley - She LOVES it!
OK better be off.
Talk soon.
hayley Alexi's sleep problems aren't at night, they're during the day. She's always been a good sleeper at night and has slept through since 5 weeks, and even now with her day sleep issues she's going to bed at 630pm and then not waking until 7am so this day thing is confusing. She used to be a really bad day sleeper - really bad - but then she suddenly became a lot better, and now the past week it's been really bad again. I guess like you said, they just go through stages and sometimes there's not much you can do. Sigh...
Moostar in terms of the fever, I ended up taking Alexi to the dr and they just checked her ears and throat and stuff to make sure there wasn't an infection, and her throat was red so she was given antibiotics. There's always the risk they'll say just take panadol, but I think it's better to get them checked because they can't tell us if their ears or throat hurts.
As for crawling, there are 2 babies in my mothers group who aren't crawling yet either, so don't worry about it. They're both going to physio though because they were both not even rolling, and then the physio is encouraging them to roll (which they're now doing) and crawl.
Oh and I forgot to say also welcome to KDG and Steven!
Sara - cool on the walking, not so cool on the 10 teeth!!
Talking fevers - I usually take S to the dr. As if I have a temp its usually the throat, which he has inherited . So every cold ends up being a throat thing.

lala - well i supposse the good thing is she sleeps well during the night! althoguh it can be frustrating during the day not getting a good break! hope it improves for you soon. We are still getting the one day sleep h ere but its a good 3 hour + one so its all good. - DS was a cat napper it and was very frustrating but also like your little girl, slept through from early on.
As for fevers. If the panadol brings it down and it doesnt last for more then a day then I dont worry about the doc but if they are still off and temp comes back its definatley worth a doctors visit. Things like throate, ears etc can go unoticed by us.

Thanks for the advice on the fevers everybody.
Tilly woke up this morning with a temp of 38.3 degrees after a sleepless night I thought it was time to take her to the doctors. She had her chest listened to and as there was a "crackle" in her right lung she was sent to x-ray.
She is now on antibiotics with suspected phenomia (sp?)
She is generally very grizzly and very hard to look after as she won't eat any food - hopefully my mum and dad can come up from Sydney tomorrow to help out. There was so much I was trying to do this week before going back to work, but havnt been able to ----- poor little Tilly.
Hope all other bubs well x

Moostar- Hope Tilly is ok and gets better soon. Phoebe is still not crawling- she rolls, sits herself up and even pulls herself up on things to be supported on her knees.... but no crawling.
Must be a sick time- Phoebe vomitted last night at 1 am when I was feeding her- happened to be in our bed- so had to have a bedspread change in the middle of the night- she has also had temps today and appears very snuffly- will see how she goes tonight- might need to take her to the Dr tomorrow.

oh no poor Tilly!!! Im wishing her aspeedy recovery, how scary for you all. I hope you parents are able to come up and help! :hugs:
3divas hope pheobe is OK too.
Im having Shelleys naming day and first birthday combined, so im busily organising it all. A family friend conducts the ceremony but for Cooper i wrote the whole ceremony out how i wanted it..so I have to do the same for Shelley. I can pretty much go with Coopers Ceremony just going to find a few different readings to do with little girls etc. And I also wrote the final read/poem myself so i have to do that too. Now i have to figure out presents. I think im going to get her a bracelet for her naming day and i have a few ideas for her birthday - the little cars they stradle with the flip top seats, jump-o-lene, megablocks - the list is endless just have to think about what she would like the most
Ok better go ive been lazy the last few days in this heat so im going to get the house work done today if it kills me!
Morning everyone
Moostar I hope Tilly gets better soon.
Hayleylea You do sound like you've got some things to organise. All I've done bday wise is organise a date and where it is... still yet to the invites and work out times depending on when DF works.
*waves* I think I might go into the cooler room now

Phoebe was pretty crook last night- temp was 39.7- took panadol and nurofen to get it down- seems ok this morn and temp is ok, but still checking her over at the Dr's later on today.
Poor sick babies, I hope they all get better soon. Alexi seems a bit back to normal now since I stopped the antibiotics - sleeping a bit better and more her normal happy self instead of the grumpy bum I was living with before.
Hope those of you in Adelaide and Melbourne have air con - I don't envy you right now

Oh no! Poor Pheobe, how the antibiotics kick in fast! bloody tonsilitis! DS gets it all the time (and shelley has had it once) its no fun at all!
Ohhh poor Phoebe!! :(
That sux. luckily grace hasnt had anything bad like that, the worst she has had (so far!!) is conjunctivitis. Plenty of time for more sickness' though i spose hey! haha cant wait! lol
My aunty is having Grace for a couple of hours tonight (5pm - 8/8.30pm), so im thinking of going out for a couple of hours, i wont be able to drink though since i have to drive to pick grace up, im on my green P's so i cant have any alcohol in my system at all. going for my black license test in a couple of weeks.
Grace has really taken off with her walking (pushing a little push bike thing), and this morning she was playing with the laundry clothes basket and she turned it upside down and was walking along pushing that! haha... so cute!
Its been pretty hot here lately (though not as hot as SA & VIC!!) so grace has just been wearing just a nappy (unless we go to the shops or somewhere) - great for me - less washing!!

Hi all,
Thanks for your well wishes, Tilly seems a lot better today, her temp has gone completely. She is still rather congested and a bit out of sorts but nothing like yesterday, I thought we were rushing to emergency when she fell asleep (read nearly passed out whilst sitting up).
You never really know when to go to the doctor, Im glad I did but in hindsight I think she may have kicked it herself, and now we have these damn antibiotics (which Im not keen on) and she has had two x-rays (also not keen on) - oh well :)
3 Divas Wow that was a high temp. Was Phoebe responsive? How is she going now?
Haleylea Shelly has been an exceptional sleeper, you can't complain there regarding sleeping through the night. Matilda's daytime sleeps have decreased of late - I think around one they cut back to one day sleep as opposed to two?
Tilly is semi crawling, which is a relief. There is a boy in my mothers group who is one day younger than tilly and walking! Just shows how much variation there can be. I actually don't mind that she can't crawl yet, It means i get to enjoy my baby just that little bit extra :goodvibes:
Well she has missed 3 days of day care, so it will be a shock for her going back next week.. I hope she is ok and doesn't miss all the extra cuddles she has been getting because she has been sick.
counting down to d-day now. Went shopping today and bought some new cloths, so even if I don't want to be there at least I will "look the part"
later :flowerz:

sara - how cute about Grace pushing the washing basket around! Enjoy your few hours out.
Moostar - yeah around 12 months they can decrease to one sleep... Shelley has been having one sleep since she was about 7 months old! It really depends on how long they have. One sleep a day works GREAT here.
Glad tilly is feeling better!
and :yelclap: for her semi crawling - is that a comando crawl? Shelley did this for AGES before she decided to crawl properly  its cute! Hope she goes back to day care OK.
Ok time for the kidlets to go to bed.
Talk soon
Moostar enjoy the last moments of Tilly not crawling. Sometimes I wish I could go back to the days when Alexi would just STAY STILL!!!! Also, I don't really like antibiotics either. I was so happy when I stopped Alexi's the other day - I swear they were hurting her tummy.
Sara cute on the walking - she'll be doing it without holding onto anything soon!
As for sleeps, I heard they can drop too, although it all depends on the baby. Alexi still always needs to have a nap not long after she's first awake in the morning. I find it a little weird cos she will have slept say 12 hours without waking up at all, but then within 1.5 hours of being awake after that she needs a sleep again. Sometimes she'll just have that one, depending on how long it is. If it's short (as it has been lately grrr) she definitely needs more, and even if it's a long one she often needs another one in the afternoon.
What toys do you guys take out with you? I feel like we're stuck in a toy rut. She has heaps of big ones, but I can't exactly transport them out with us, and all her little ones I think she's getting bored with. But there doesn't seem to be much out there that's small yet interesting...
3divas sorry to her about the tonsilitis - are there any other symptoms with it?
Grace usually has 2-3 sleeps during the day, but her sleeps are pretty short, maximum of 1.5hrs. i would be happy for her to have just one sleep but as long as its a BIG one! lol.
Lala i think the same thing sometimes, ahh wasnt it nice (and the house alot cleaner!) when they just layed there! haha...
We have to pretty much close all the doors now and just keep grace in the loungeroom/kitchen. if we dont she is very interested lately in the toilet (eekkk!!) and the bathroom draw with all the tampons!! ....nice!....
Grace loves pulling things out of bags, like handbags! so today i got an old bag and put a whole bunch of stuff in there that she hasnt seen or played with before. i put in things like little tupperware containers, cookie cutters, plastic spoon, an old purse etc - just everyday things like that. and she sat there for 15mins in silence just concentrating on getting everything out and examining it!! haha!
What an easy way to get 15+mins to myself without having to worry where she is or what shes getting into!
I highly recommend doing that girls!
Maybe thats an idea for you when u go out Lala??
Sleep
Oscar's sleep is absolute rubbish at the moment. He refuses to sleep more than ten hours at night (usually more like 8) with at least one to three wakeups and resettles (usually assisted by me) in the middle of the night. THen instead of going back to sleep an hour or two later cause he's exhausted (which he used to do after less than ten hours night sleep) he stays awake for up to.... Well, yes, its been 4 hours now since he woke up and i think, dare i say it, after water and giving in and wrapping him, a poo, nappy change and two bottles later, he's finally gone to sleep. Oh my gosh i wish I'd never stopped wrapping him.The nurse freaked me out about how he'd roll over and suffocate in the wraps, but he never even moved when he used to be wrapped. Now that he's unwrapped, not only does he wriggle ALL OVER THE COT FOR AN HOUR BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP, but he doesnt sleep as long or as well and wakes up more and cant put himself back to sleep cause its too much fun to play and roll around!!!!!
Seriuosly annoyed. THen i went to another nurse who said "Why did you stop wrapping him? If he likes it, keep doing it!" FAR OUT! Could I just, in one area of my child raising, be given some consistent advice???
Fevers - Everyone should read this bit...
Actuallly speaking of fevers, that is the only consistent advice ive heard. If they have a temp (regardless of whether panadol brings it down in the first place or not) for more than a day, seek mecdical advice.
We raced to hospital at 11 days when O's temp reached 38.5 and he was hospuitalised for a whole week and on three kinds of antibiotics, chest wrays, urine samples (needle through the tummy into the bladder and a catheter up the pipe) swabs, you name it... TUrned out he had golden staph and he WOULD HAVE DIED without the ABs...
Very distressing, but as the docotre said to me when I questioned how safe all the treatments were (especially the cheest xray on a brand new bub) It is much better to have a baby on antibiotics with an upset stomach and a bit of radiation from an xray and pain from drips and catheters etc, than to have no baby anymore.
The doctors also told me and everyone should read this: It's better not to give panadol at the first sign of a temp because the reason your body gets a temp is to signal an infection. Your body then goes into overdrive to fight it off and if you bring down the temp, you're actually only treating the symptom and hiding the infection, so your body doesnt fight it off as well. That being said, you should never leave a high temp (over38) without having it checked for over a day. Babies do still die from being untreated and ending up with stuff like pneumonia., So Moostar, you're lucky you got it in time... ABs are a much better alternative than pneumonia on such little lungs...
Okay enough paranoia for one day... I'm going back to bed, finally...:chillpill:
**** Eckey that's scary. Far out, to think he might've died without it - gives me goosebumps. So how long do they say to wait until giving panadol? Yeah, I'd always rather just get a temperature checked out. I really wasn't liking the antibiotics and the sore tummy it was giving her, but now it's kind of put it into perspective - better to have a baby with a sore tummy on antibiotics than no baby at all. Eek.
Sara, that's a good idea about the bag full of stuff - I can just imagine Alexi doing what Grace did too, examining it all. I might have to try that!!
Eckey, not good about the sleep. Are you going to keep him unwrapped or continue to wrap him? I suppose that whenever you stopped wrapping him it's likely he would've gone through this stage anyway?
What bread do you guys give your babies? I've been giving white bread but it just doesn't seem particulalry nutritional. Also, I've started giving her sandwiches at lunch, especially when we're out, so she can feed herself instead of me trying to feed both of us (especially cos she's been disgusting lately with spitting the food back out to touch it). I've just been putting vegemite on them because I don't want stuff falling out all over the place -

Hi guys- still hot outside- 5 days running now- would love to see a little rain!
In response to qu about Phoebes temps- Moostar- yes Phoebe was responsive but not attentive iykwim? She was just so sick. Lala- other symptoms- just the temp really- oh and bad breath. I was always told a temp over 38 degress signalled an infection- so I always get it checked out- and I do give panadol to make the child more comfy- with a temp nearing 40 it can cause convulsions if left to creep higher and damage to the brain. I do think no matter what, it is always worth checking a high temp with a Dr- never assume anything. I remember Eckey when you came in and told us of your ordeal with Oscar- just so scary. Not worth not knowing. phoebe loves the a/b- banana flavour- only thing she will take without any fuss!
Moostar- woohoo on tilly starting to crawl- phoebe has made a few attempts today too- the dr said yesterday to get down with her and encourage her and to get the other kids to model crawling and she may pick it up??
Sleeping- we are pretty much one sleep a day here- which is usually a good long one- any subsequent sleeps are usually short ones.
Phoebe has started to perk up a little thankfully- she was pretty miserable before- hate to see them sick- esp when you have to keep guessing what is wrong rather than actually knowing.
Do you guys give your bubs much water during the day? How much and in what?? I get worried in this heat that milk is not refreshing enough- managed to get 40ml of water into Phoebe last night- was so hot and she was dripping in sweat.
Better go get some dinner for the troops- it is almost 7pm:eek:
Lala i started grace out on white bread but now i just give her grain bread (the tip top 9 grain one) cos thats what we have. I give her toast too. Ive only ever put either vegemite or cream cheese spread - beware though the cream cheese spread can get very messy! of if im in a hurry or she wants food straight away and cant wait i just put on a bit of margarine (we use nuttlex) and she is perfectly happy with just that, and its not as messy either so just plain margarine is a good one for leaving the house with.
Eckey - thanks for that panadol advice!! that must have been so scary for you knowing what might have been! I dont think Grace has ever had a temperature!? which is a bit odd considering she is 10months old haha or maybe just lucky i guess...touch wood...
3divas - im happy to hear Phoebe is a bit more cheerful! hope that continues for you! I think you must be some kind of superwoman - 3 kids + a teacher!! well done! :)
3divas - i forgot to say - i give Grace water in a sippy cut and i sit it on her highchair tray whenever she is eating and she helps herself, and also (especially if its hot like lately) i offer it regularly or just sit it on the floor or coffee table that way she can get it when she wants, the cup holds 295mls so she probably usually has between 100-200mls, some days she will only have say 50mls though.
If im going out to a friends house or to the shops i usually take her sippy cup too - i hate being thirsty so i imagine she would too!
Especially when its hot i basically take a bottle of water for me and her sippy cup everywhere we go.
Also i keep graces water in the fridge and sometimes she just sucks/chews on the spout thing and the water drips all over her, which is probably really nice and cold on her gums and in this heat i dont mind her doing that at all.
I give Alexi water throughout the day in a straw cup (she wouldn't drink from anything but a straw). I fill it up during the day (not sure how much it holds - it's a tommee tippee one) and on some days she gets close to finishing it, and others she barely has any. I always have it there for her when she's having a meal, and I often leave it on the coffee table so she can just get it when she wants a drink.
Sara Thanks for the ideas on the sandwich toppings. Also, Alexi didn't have a temperature until recently either. It's good if Grace doesn't have one, it's scarier having a younger bub with a temp.

We use a sippy cup with water in it too. I filled it up twice today and it holds about 100mls! She drinks a fair bit out of it but she also blows bubbles in it alot and it spills on her lol. Its just a cheap $2 one, but its great...its easy for her to get the water etc out of, and its just like her brothers so she thinks she is special.
She has also had an iceblock a day - with this hot weather! I get the Quelch brand ones - they are 99% real fruit, so i dont see no harm in them. They are GREAT for her gums too, especially with teeth coming through.
we use white bread, brown bread - whatever I have! She loves apricot Jam sandwhiches, Cheese sandwhiches, Vegimite & cheese, Ive even spread left over Jars of food on her bread if i have to use it up and she loves it!
Anyway i really should head to bed. I had a hard time getting Shelley down tonight - think those teeth are giving her a bit of grief and also the hot weather. Thankgod we will have aircon in this house next year!
Bread We never eat white bread ourselves so we give her what we have, which is rye. Its very light and a lot more nutricious. I had a banana sandwich for lunch today and Taylor would not leave me alone. So cute sharing a soggy sanga with a baby!
Water, She will have about 150-200ml a day out of a straw cup. I always leave it on the floor so she can grab it whenever she wants. Cold water is not very good for them so I don't refridgerate. Its something to do with their insides not being able to absorb the colder water as well.
Lala how are your days sleeps going? Mine were ok today but its still a matter of trying to get her to sleep for an hour, then she wakes after 40min. I don't know what to do with her all day!
Diva how was the heat today? Is it settling down any?
Yeah, I don't eat white bread either but was told to start her off on that cos it's easier to process or something. But now I'm giving her more bread I'd rather give her something about more nutritional. I hadn't thought of spreading left over food on there!! And a banan sandwich is a good idea too. It's all just so messy with babies though isn't it!
Yes, I forgot to mention that Alexi squirts a lot of her water out too. She thinks it's funny and likes the sensation I think. I hadn't thought of ice blocks - haven't heard of the Quelch brand.
Chippy, day sleeps are still quite bad. After a really ****ty week of fighting sleep and then sleeping for only 20 minutes she's improved, but it's still not good. She's generally going down easy enough, but is waking 45 mins to an hour later. Which could be okay I guess but she obviously needs more because she's still tired and then just needs to try to go down for a million naps a day. I'd much prefer the one big sleep a day. She used to at least get a good big one in the morning but it's just not happening these days. The problem is though she seems to be doing more poo, and waking up from that. I'm pretty sure some more teeth are coming cos her gums look a little lumpy. But other than that, I don't know what her excuse is.
I know what you mean about not knowing what to do with her all day chippy! It can be exhausting trying to entertain and 'teach'. I guess that's where it's good if they have siblings to play with.
Chippy ~ i wasnt aware that cold water isnt good for them!? maybe i shouldnt put it in the fridge anymore...she LOVES it being cold though.
Are ice blocks ok? cos i will share a iceblock (the quelch ones the same as hayley) with her too which she loves.
Grace slept so much yesterday - 1hr in the morning (8ish) then 2 hrs from 12-2pm, then 1.5hrs from 6-730pm, then woke up for half hour had a nappy change and bottle and went to bed!
Lucky i gave her an early bath yesterday (before 6pm)!!
The last 2 nights grace has slept in her cot from 8pm-6am!! both nights she stired at around 3am but i just put her dummy back in and layed her down again gave her a quick pat and off she went!
I hope i havent jinxed myself by saying this......
Hope everyone had a good nights sleep too!! :)

Sara - we posted at the same time. With iceblocks and the cold water. I thought Cold beverages and Ice blocks were hard on little ones tummies at a younger age.. Shelley has cold water and the iceblocks as i mentioned and she seems to have no problems with it. The way i see you use your own perception - if Grace seems fine and doesnt seem to have tummy aches then keep giving it to her (Especially if she loves it :))
Both my kids ar estill in bed. Shelley went at 7 and woke up at 8 and it took me till 9 to get her back down! She is still in bed though so i cant complain. My 3 year old was the problem. He woke up- and wanted to come in my bed and he tossed and turned all morning! I would still be in bed but i got hit my dreaded AF this morning :gloomy: so up and a shower for me. Silly things they are!

I had actually heard from a natropath that cold water is not good for anybody- babies, children and adults and that when we do drink water we should drink it warm- I really cant remember the reason behind it- has something to do with the way the cold reacts on the inside- in saying that there is nothing more revitalising than a nice cold drink or icy pole in the stinking hot weather!!
Chippy- still been hot here- around the 35-36 degree mark- not as hot as melb and ade. Difference with the heat here is that it is really dry- not moist and humid- I dont know whats worse- the dry heat or the humidity??
Lala- hope your sleeps with Alexi start to improve- it is very tiring- even when you dont know what else to do with yourself- lol:laughing: Thats why I am glad to be back at work!
Hayleylea- so no a/c this year??? You poor bugger- you will have to come sit in at my place- lol. This would have to be the hottest year we have had for some time in the central west- do you think???
Sara- lucky you on the sleep front with Grace- do you mind shooing the sleep fairy this way a bit more- we are in desperate need of her!
Going to a bday party today with the kids- not looking forward to it- another scorcher predicted for today. They did say they would have the sprinkler going- might have to plonk myself down in the middle of it- lol.

Me too!! I am down to one or two feeds a day now. Blake has a bottle after his lunch and one before bed. I have a very small bleed in November for half a day and then the other night just something when I wiped and that was it. We want to start ttc again very soon so I hope my cycle returns properly sooner or later.

hi im a newey! im joanne im 23, my dd alisha was born on the 27 march 08 10 weeks early! she is now 10 months and is crawling, pulling her self up! and standing! im so proud to be her mum! and cant wait to celbrate her 1st birthday!
Hi Joalisha - I'm new as well :)
Sandwiches - I've been giving DS white bread only because I eat multigran, and we get it for free so it makes no difference. I either give him vegemite, cheese or both together. Its a bit messy but okay.
This last week he's also been having icey poles. Its good for his teeth (which one is popping out now) and nice in this weather. As well as cold fruit.
Well he's been asleep for 2hrs now yay! Since the hot weather and his 2nd tooth coming through he's so grumpy.
3divas - glad Phoebe is improving
So is everyone feeding less? I am still doing 6 a day. We're starting the weaning when he's 11mths (so in 2 weeks) just the mid-morning feed and going from there. Its going to be hard cos he loves the boob!
Hi Joalisha - welcome! Wow, 10 weeks early! Was everything okay? It's great that she's still reached all the milestones then!
KDG, I only feed Alexi 2 times a day too. Once in the morning and once at night. I'm planning on slowly cutting them out, probably once she hits 11 months or something, as I don't see her weaning herself.
3Divas I was going to ask about your AF. My cramps have still been on and off, but still a no show too. Like you I'm freaked out it's just going to suddenly come because I don't feel like it's far away. Morgan, I just had the bit of blood when I wiped a few weeks ago, and that was it too. Weird hey. But I did hear that even if you're not getting AF, you could still be ovulating so if you're TTC it's still possible to get pregnant.
Yeah, I need some of that sleep fairy dust too - still pretty bad with the day sleeps. Sooooooo over it!!

 Joalisha and welcome- was wondering the same- 10 weeks early- thats pretty scary!!
KDG- I still feed heaps- but have been trying to cut out day feeds now I am back at work- just wish I could get it to apply to the days I am home too- over the w/e could not get Phoebe to take a bottle:hair:
Lala- no sign of a/f- apart from the pain!!! After having that small streak of blood a few weeks ago- nothing! In some ways Ijust wish it would come- Only really had 1 a/f cycle i the last (almost) 3 years- I will have to get use to them all over again!
Off to work today- better run and get ready before the 2 babies wake up!
3Divas I feel exactly the same - just kind of wish it would come and be done with it instead of just having this weird pain. So last time did you have i cycle and then fall pregnant with Phoebe? God, I thought 19 months was long enough to not have AF but yeah 3 years is a long time!!
Welcome KDG and joalisha!!!
I;m feeling a bit crappy at the moment. I don't know if it's hormones or what. It's annoying 'cos I want to enjoy this time with Blake and not feel like this. I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed with not ever having any time to myself anymore and with Blake being so mobile and I not getting much done these days.

Yep 1 cycle them whamo- pregnant again!!! I have had the worse pain all day- I feel so crampy and sick- took 2 panadol but the pain is still there- I wish they would just come!!
Morgan:hugs: have you got anybody to talk to? did you feel like this before you went OS? Is it possible that you feel a bit cr@ppy since coming home cause you miss you relo's os?? I get a bit like that sometimes- love seeing my brothers and their partners and nieces and nephews and just feel so lonely when they are gone- cause we all live in different places- not close by. If you feel like it is all consuming you make an appointment to see somebody- in the meantime- make some time for yourself- hair, nails, massage, coffee with friends- it is important to get 'Me Time' where possible.
Hot hot day- phoebe had a feed at 6 am and only managed to have 50mls of formula and a few sucks on water(this was while I was at work) til i saw her at 4:30 this arvo- she had been asleep for 2 hours and her nappy was dry- this fussy behaviour is really starting to get on my nerves!!
Hi Joalisha!! nice to have another member of our little bubhub march 08 family! :)
well i cant comment about the whole AF thing cos ive had mine back since like may or something last year. Grace has been bottle fed since she was only bout 3wks old - we had probs!
Im on the pill (not for stopping me getting pregnant... i aint having any sex so no chance of any pregnancy! haha!!). i skip my period, only have one every 2-3 months, and yes ive checked with the doctor its totally healthy to skip them they just dont recommend skipping them for any longer than 3 months.
Morgan - I feel like this too sometimes! does blake go to daycare at all? maybe you should see if you can put him in daycare for even one day a week? i know some people would probably disagree with doing that just so u can get some 'me' time, but i think me time is VERY important.
Or if u dont like the idea of a big daycare maybe give a home daycare a go (a lady who does daycare from her home and i think she can have a max of 4or5 kids, and its more like a home environment.)
When they get more mobile it is so much harder - Grace gets into EVERYTHING!!
I get so frustrated!!
Well I am exahausted - i taught 4 different classes today and dont remember any names. OF course, last night DH was "on duty" and Oscar only woke once and went stright back to sleep with the dummy.
SLeep and pooing - Yeah, when Oscar poos, that's it, he wont go back to sleep except right in the middle of the night.
Tried putting him to bed early tonight (hes been gping down after ten lately) and he's already woken up and wont go back to sleep.
I am SO SICK OF HIM NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP. He's seriosly only getting 10-12 hurs a day (in 24 hours) and taking up to an hour and a half to go to sleep. I gave up on his arvo nap today cause he'd taken almost an hour and it was already 5pm and he's been going down later and later every day.
He's puked his dinner two nights in a row now, so I'll have to take him to the doctor AGAIN tomorrow - Man, I should just live there...
Not sure what elso to try. Its too hot to wrap him and he's had milk, water dummy, cuddles... He's so exhausted all the time. Maybe he's in pain. I think I'll give him Panadol. Man, I wish he would just learn to talk!
Oscky loves his milk cold, and the nurse said if i hadnt heated it in the first place I could refrigerate and give the rest later... Thereis just NO CONSISTENCY...
Grrrrr... Sorry about the vent, just had enough today...
Eckey - im so sorry your having a tough time... they definately know how to push ur buttons dont they!
Have u read up about different ways to get him to sleep? maybe do some research (on bubhub or somewhere else) and just try some different methods?
Like u said maybe he is in pain? is he screaming/crying or arching his back?
Grace was arching her back and throwing herself backwards when we discovered she has reflux, although thats more a newborn thing, but i dont know?
Have u discussed all this with ur dr? i definately would be, and also talking to your CHN about it too.
Grace sleeps from about 8pm-6am, plus 2or3 day sleeps each anywhere between 30mins - 2hours.
So i REALLY think you should atleast try some different approaches... it cant make it any worse hey!
And yes i agree i would definately be giving him panadol... if it gives you a good break and sleep then its worth it!
Sorry if i sound bossy or rude or anything but i just feel for you, it must be incredibly hard and exhausting!
Even though you are exhausted, im sure you are still being an awesome mummy!! :)

Eckey- I totally understand- we have the a/c on here all night so I am wrapping Phoebe- but in saying that she is still pushing my buttons- She has been clawing at me all evening for booby- and she has been on it most of the evening- tried the bottle a few times, tried some custard but she just wont take either- I have seriously had enough- dh wrapped then rocked her to sleep cause I cant deal with it- I had a full on busy day at work today too- I just dont have the energy for her, esp if she wants to be attached to my boob 24/7!!
Sara- even though I want af to arrive- the pill and skipping a/f sounds like a plan too- although dh has had snip- seems pointless. Never used contraception before anyways as I always knew when I was ovulating- I can feel it!!
As I said- Phoebe is driving me nuts tonight- glad dh has got her to sleep cause I was ready to walk out!!! She is such a miserable whingy baby- I am over it- the other 2 girls were so happy and bubbly- and this one- not so happy:no:

Hi guys
just a quick one from me.
3divas - it was you that said you go to kindermusik wasnt it? Do you love it? Im heading there on thursday for my first class with Cooper to try and break him out of his shell. We are doing Our time this semester so i can get involved with him! It sounds good from the information I have been sent.
I have only just got Shelley to sleep. She was just miserable toight. So unlike her. Just crying, wouldnt feed off me or anything, poor baby. I think its her teeth - well i hope so., I have had a major sore throate the last few days so i hope she isnt in for another bout of tonsilitis!
Eecky i hope you get some sleep! You poor thing!
this is the 3rd time i have had AF and each time has been nworse then the other!! I was crippled over in pain last night - it was awful
Ok i better get some sleep have a feeling my dream run off sleeping through may go out the window tonight!
Far out I just did this massive page and lost it all because the internet decided to mess up!!! Grrr!! I don't have time to rewrite it all, but basically just said I totally understand how you're feeling Eckey and 2divas in regards to sleep - it's the number one frustrating stressor when you know your baby needs sleep but they just WON'T DO IT!!! And then all these awful thoughts and emotions come out because you stress about it and worry about them...especially if they're being grizzly too. But I guess at the end of the day, even though there's a recommended sleep amount, in the long run it doesn't really matter. My mum said I never slept as a baby but there was nothing wrong with me (I don't think ha ha!). But still, so much easier said than felt when you're in the midst of a fight with your tired but non sleeping baby, which trust me, I experience a lot too. I don't think anything stresses me out as much as that, or frustrates or annoys me as much either. I'm glad dh helped you out tonight 3divas, you really need that break and distance from it.
Morgan, it's awful when you feel flat and blah isn't it. It just happens doesn't it, and there's not even necessarily a particular reason. But I agree, you definitely need to make 'me time' a priority because I always find I feel most flat when I haven't had any me time....which coincidentally always occurs when Alexi isn't sleeping and I'm highly stressed as well....cheeky babies!

Yes Hayleylea- Kindermusik is gr8- bridget should be going back today- and I am off but have noone to look after Phoebe- I cant take her anymore- she would sit there and scream. We both would have been crippled in pain- I have the worst a/f pain atm- but the damn thing is a no show!!!
Lala- Hope you managed a better night with Alexi- I find when I have had a really bad night- and all mine are bad but some worse than others- that it is so hard to function the next day- My house work gets pushed to the side all the time- glad dh is so hands on in that dept and my mum will come and help me with my washing- amazing how many clothes 3 kids go through:rolleyes: I dont have an answers/solutions. Still trying to work them out for my sefl!
In saying that had a better night last night. Phoebe did wake again about 10.15pm and dh dealt with her- not sure if she had some bottle or not but he got her back down and came to bed at about 10.45 and she did not wake for a feed til 3.30am- so thats a good stretch for us:yelclap:

3divas - we were meant to go today too! what one are you doing? I choose the one where im present all the time for this term because of Coopers shyness. The lady sounded fantastic, I really hope Cooper likes it im looking forward to it. Shelley will be going to my sisters, im looking forward to having some one on one time with Cooper again. I thought it was a bit expensive but I think he will benifit much more from something like this rather then a new playgroup.
My kids are still in bed, (so shelley would be after staying up till late last night). I just got up to have some breakkie and a bit of me time before we start the day.
Well i got AF this morning so i know am in the same boat as you with the pains!
I feel bloated and fat and sick. I im hungry but i just tried to eat and i had 3 mouthfuls then it just made me feel sick and yuk. i really feel like i need to eat...im starting to get shaky.
Well its tuesday so grace is at daycare/XDF's. so i have the day to myself!
Im going shortly to a friends house then im meeting up with my aunty so that will be nice. another aunty and her DH & DS are looking for a house to buy, so im looking through a house with her this arvo.
Every morning im entering the Sunrise Cash Cow competition... I feel lucky!
I keep saying to myself I AM GOING TO WIN $5000 I AM GOING TO WIN $5000!!
Haha...
Sara I've started entering the cash cow competition too - although this morning Alexi was feeding and I wasn't able to get to the phone in time. Damn!
Geez, sounds like we're all having a hard time at the moment. DH keeps saying "He's just going through a phase, it'll pass." Of course he's right. I wish I could just let go.
Everyone said control freaks calm down when they have a baby cause they learn they can't control the baby, so they just loosen up. Well, maybe I have a bit... My place is certainly the messiest it's ever been, but it still bugs me that it's so messy! I have a friend with a 3yr old and 1 year-old twins, whose husband's in the army and goes away for months at a time (and she does it really tough, as you can imagine) and her house is always immaculate - how on earth does she do it (without a cleaner)?
3 Divas / Haylealea - Osc only went to sleep at quarter to 11 last night as well. It took 2.5 hours of my rocking, dummying, wrapping, even walking in the pram up and down the street a few times before DH got home, walked in his room and put the dummy back in and instantaneous quiet / sleep! Can you believe it? I'm not even breastfeeding anymore, so I don’t even have the excuse of him smelling my milk! He must have just sensed my tension.:hair:
I’ve wrapped Oscar for his morning sleep today and he’s slept for two hours now!
Morgan - I've been feeling the same way lately. Have you had the bursting into tears at the drop of a hat and going from fine to angry in a split second too? I'm sure its temporary stress from lack of sleep and ovulating etc for me, but if you've felt like that (and for a while now) definitely get some help. DH said there's some hotline you can ring if you think you might have depression? I haven't checked it out yet.
:detective:
Lala – You’re right about the sleep being different for every kid. My mum said the same thing about me! And a friend of mine said her baby slept a whole lot less JUST before she started crawling and then went back to normal, so maybe Oscky’s finally going to crawl?! He’s getting closer everyday and staying on his all fours and rocking a lot more. I really feel for you abut the post too. I HATE it when you lose a nice big post! I did that a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been typing them in microsoft word and saving before I copy and paste into the reply box. It's really good insurance if you can remember to do it...
:iagree:
BTW every time I try to post but haven't logged in yet it makes me log in about 7 times before I can finally post, yet each time it says welcome back Eckey, then tells me I can't post cause I'm not logged in. Anyone else have that prob? It's okay if I log in when I first get to the forum...:geek:
Hi Ladies
Thank you all so much for listening!! I shouldn't really complain as am really lucky with Blake's sleeps etc. Really feel for you all who are suffering on the sleep side. :hugs: :hugs: I guess I'm just feeling extra sensitive and a bit teary so maybe it is a bit of depression. I have just left a message with a girlfriend to see if we can organise a night out so hopefully that will help. We don't have any family here to I don't really ever leave Blake with anyone, but I think I might ask DH to take a day off soon so I can go out on my own and do some shopping.
Sara - I have considered daycare. However I've been told it's difficult for them to settle in when you only do the one day a week. Has anyone else experienced this?
Morgan - Grace to daycare every tuesday (its home daycare - XDFs mother does it from her home, and has done for the last 30yrs, so it is daycare but its also her grandmas house). And XDF has her after he finishes work. So Grace gets picked up at 8am and gets dropped back to me at about 8pm.
Even though it is her grandmother, she still doesnt sleep much or drink much bottle. but she will eat solid food. Grace doesnt get cranky or anything but when she gets home to me she is buggered so basically has a bottle and goes straight to bed!
Apparently she gets in and plays with all the other kids and interacts with them all so i think she has a great time there! apart from the not having sleeps (she will only have about 2 sleeps of 20mins each), and not wanting much of her bottle, she is fine!
she has been doing one day a week in daycare for a couple of months now, at first it might be hard for both you and him, but i really honestly think u will get ALOT out of having even just one day a week to yourself!!
And also i think its good for kids to be around other kids and be in different situations and places. builds good social skills. JMO
Thanks Sara! I might look into that.
Has anyone thought about school/kinder as yet? Do I need to start booking Blake in now?
Also, is it better for him to start earlier or later? What is everyone else doing? I mean, we are right on the cut off!!

Morgan- good on you for organising a night out- will do you wonders!!! There are quite a few daycare places here where I live that will only let you book you kids in for a minimum of 2 days as they feel kids dont get use to and settle well when only coming once week.
Hayleylea- Kindermusik for us is on Tuesdays- The lady rang me at lunch today to ask if we are coming back as I missed today- so might return to it next week if I can sort something with Phoebe.
Phoebe had another good 3 hour sleep today- but keep in mind she is usually only having 1 sleep a day- sometimes 2, but mostly 1- the wrapping has been a godsend!!!
Gotta love Mr Rudd!!!
I think i will be getting 2 payments - the tax one and FTB B.

How do you work it out? Will get something, but not sure what???
in the family finance or the news section on bubhub there is links to the press releases.
The tax one is if ur income was under $80,000 - 07/08
And u get another $950 if u claim FTB B
Thats what i understood anyway... correct me if im wrong?
(which i hope im not! haha)
3divas - forgot to say - u should get something (maybe 950 as well) for ur DD in school

thanks, had thought similar-was not too sure though.
I get confused all the time if I get A or B family allow. But I know I get the working one.
I'll put some into DS acct and then use the rest for our wedding
DS goes to c/c 3 times a week as I work. He loves it and now sleeps and eats like normal, unless teething. He loves it and sometimes is too busy playing to realise I am actually there, but when he does I get the best smile and cuddles. :D
Great news about the bonus. I think I will get the FTB B one too!! :smiliedance:
I'm going to give some to our favourite charity 'compassion' and use some to do up our back garden so Blake has a play area.
I've decided I need to get back into exercise as I think that's really going to help me mentally. Just got to work out what I can do now with having Blake with me all the time. Perhaps fast pace walks with the pram to start with.
so with the money thing, is it from the 07/08 tax return? Cos that doesn't make sense...At that stage I was working so we had 2 incomes for some of it, so does that mean I wouldn't get the 950? But then someone who was on one income THEN but is on two incomes NOW would get the 950 even though they technically don't need it anymore???!!!
lala from what ive read and how i understand its like this ~
- If you earned under $80,000 in the 07/08 financial year you will get $950, you will get it the same way you got your tax return, eg cheque by mail or direct deposit into ur bank account.
- And if on feb 3rd you are a one income family/single parent you will get $950.
- Plus for every child enrolled in school another $950 (i think its $950 anyway?)
So your not working are you lala?
If ur not you should be entitled to $1900, like me.
Correct me if im wrong someone, but thats just how i understand it.

Just watching the news now and seems like the Liberals are going to try and put a stop to the cash bonuses!!!!!
That sucks cause if we get it I get $950, dh gets $950 and $950 for dd1- I understand each Aussie who earns under $80 000 are entitled.
OOh really hope it doesn't get stopped.....I hadn't even thought about the fact that it was aimed at each person, not just each family....which means both dh and I would be entitled to 950 each as well....It's mean if it gets taken away from us!!!

I have just had one of the worse nights with Phoebe and now I have to go and get ready and go to work- with a kink in my neck!!
She has a cold and coughed all night- nose blocked all night which made it difficult to feed when she was awake for a feed and difficult to sleep- she kept waking up crying so of course she layed in my arms most of the night- hence the kinked neck. We also had dd2 in our bed as Phobe woke her about 1.15am so she came in and jumped in bed with us too- so feel like I have had zero sleep.

3divas - you poor bugger! I hope your day goes quickly and you manage to get some sleep tonight!
we are off to kindermusik today. So i better get ready!
Diva hope you get more sleep tonight!! You should have called in sick. I have never spent even 1 night sleeping with Taylor in our bed so I can't imagine how you feel. I have never understood even hOW people sleep with babies as I would be up all night worrying about moving and waking them!
Lala how are you finding the 2 feeds a day? Do you feel you still have enough milk? I think mine is going down but it doesn't matter because she gets plenty of food.
Isn't it always the way when you want them to have a quick morning sleep, they sleep forever! I needed her to wake 30 mins ago to get to baby dance and she's in there snoozing away. Hayleylea sounds like a similar thing that you go to. They just love it!
