Hi all,

Ok, with all the sleep issues we have we Tayla, the only time we had no troubles was when we put her to bed at night where she would have a bath, feed and straight down to bed and she would be asleep within half an hour with no fussing or anything. What an angel.........

But, for the past 6 nights in a row, without fail, when we put her in her bed she screams hysterically for an hour before she finally goes to sleep. She isn't hungry as we have tried giving her more to eat but she refuses. Tried panadol in case of pain but no good.

has anyone else had this sort of behaviour ? She is now 5 months and 1 week old!!! Is she going through a separation anxiety stage?

Help!?

My daughter Briana used to go through stages like this and we were starting to pull our hair out. She would have the same routine.

Would have dinner, bath, little play and bottle and straight to bed.

She started really playing up at bedtime (at about 10 1/2 months old) so we changed the routine and gave her a bottle and let her play a bit more before bedtime (1/2 hour). It worked brilliantly.

I guess it was her way of telling me she wasn't tired enough to go to sleep.

She started doing it again about 2 weeks ago with her day sleeps. She would grizzle and cry for about 1/2 hour before her day sleeps and only sleep for 1/2 hour. For the past 4 days I have been stopping the morning sleep and putting her down at about 1pm. She goes to sleep straight away and is asleep for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Hope this helps and good luck.

As bubs are always growing and changing, Tayla may be entering a new stage where she is "ready" for a sleep straight after her feed as her routine once was.

My eldest son (who is 20mths so it isn't a great comparison) was always hard to get to sleep. But we found that if we got him down when he was showing signs of being ready then we would have no trouble. 7.30ish is his bedtime. Any earlier forget it any later and he becomes a monster until he gets put into bed and doesn't sleep well, tossing and turning most the night.

I can't remember the ques a younger baby give when they are ready for sleep but we used signs of wanting to interact with caregivers more & more, rubbing their eyes, pulling their ears, etc. Your CHN can probably fill you in on what ques you should look for with Tayla to help workout her "new" bedtime.

OR it could all just be that she is having a growth spurt or teething. These things always throw everything out the window.

I hope this info helps and if not I hope Tayla gets over it quick for your sake.

Take care

Thanks for the replies. She is definitely tired as she only has 2 or 3 40 minute naps during the day and when we give her a bath she is yawning her head of and has drropy eyes with her bottle but you put her down in her cot and she starts screaming! But she plays up with her evening bottle too and fidgets and cries etc.

Quite painful after a long hard day where she fights going to sleep and cries everytime you put her down!

hi. just a little note to let you know you are not alone. my little boy who will be 1 in two weeks screams when we put him to bed. if i go in to him we end up having a bad night so i try to block out the screaming and let him go to sleep by himself. it has to be the hardest thing in the world listening to your baby cry. i have been told it will eventually settle down. heres hoping. good luck
