I Want to start this thread for Ladies under 25, who have fertility issues, or are TTC, or who are pregnant. It is a bit difficult for us Young Mum's to be ( I mean dont you get sick of hearing people tell you "whats the rush, you are still a baby"), or your friends are all still single and couldnt be bothered listening to you rattle on about Pregnancy issues.
Well this is the thread for all of us. Lets get to know each other, so that we can support each other and share our experiences.
I myself am turning 22 in Feb. TTC #1 and going through IVF in Jan. So i know what it is like to be in baby mode while all your friends are out looking for the next Root*

hi acacia1987,
dh and i have been ttc #1 since may 2005(4 years this coming may). i am 24 he has just turned 26.
we have been seeing a fertility specialist for almost 2 years now(started march 2007).
we have unexplained infertility, we did two iui attempts and 3 stimulated ivf cycles and 1 fet cycle. all resulting in bfns unfortunately.
we suspect i had a chemical pregnancy with the last cycle (fet) as i had 3 positive hpts(last one very faint though) and blood test come back negative.
i was your age when i started seeing a fertility specialist and yes those comments from people do hurt when they say things like "you are young, you have pleanty of time".
having children older in life just isnt for everyone.
good luck with your ttc/ivf journey i hope it is a short one.
pm me if u want.

I'm also hoping for :bfp: but not sure if I will receive it. lol.

Hi girls!
I'm 24 and husband is 31 (32 in 2 weeks) and we started trying about 4 months ago.
I think the worst thing about the "your so young to have a baby" is looking through this site and seeing how hard it is for the older women, and I think, you know what, I'm not crazy young, I'm at the perfect stage of life to be getting pregnant, and if it's taking months now, I don't want to imagine what it'll be like if I do wait another 5-10 years.
It feels like it's been a long time already, but when I read the journals and things of people like ringneck and nic, I realise that this, couple of months, is nothing. I'm not up to IVF and stuff yet, and it's a scary thought, because I think we all expect that because we're young, it'll happen at the drop of a hat (or pants tee hee hee), and then it doesn't.
Lots of :hugs: and support for you going through all that, and praying for us all to concieve THIS month.

Hi ladies,
DH and I have been TTC #1 for about 3 months now, we are testing next week. I feel like 3 months has been forever, but my heart goes out to everyone who has been trying longer without success. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you :hugs:
Lets hope 2009 brings lots of BFP's!!!

Hi
DP and I have been TTC for a long time now (years) I am 21 and he is 26. Most of our friends are having babies and getting married - so I feel left outthat we haven't done it yet!
Marriage is on the way!

i am 25, does that make me too old to come in here too?!?
i was 24 when i started ttc
i too hate being told 'at least ur young'... i mean f***ing h*** i went for 5 1/2 months without an AF... who cares how old i am, that just completely sucked
at least this is a 'journey' and im focusing on that rather than the destination... It's a little frustrating as none of friends have the slightest idea about ttc... I told my bestie that i had O'd on cd20 (cause i was very excited!!) but she just looked at me blankly having very little idea about why i was excited...lol, oh well
i'm going to keep my fingers crossed that my 'one yr off the pill and not pregnant yet' holiday brings a lovely surprise!
 All,
I am 24 and DP is 23 and we have been TTC #1 for MONTHS now. I have been to an FS and discovered I have PCO (no S) and I just did my first round of clomid. I have a blood test next Friday to see if I o'd.
:fingerscrossed: I did ....
The journey is sooo hard especially when others fall so easy ... my BIL's girlfriend just needs to be winked at and she falls and I swear Ill die if she has another (they have 5).
Our friends are also giving us the 'your so young speech' but in the scheme of things for me its now or never as if i have any more cysts rupture they will have to remove the ovaries.
RN - I have been following your journey and you are one tough lady :).
Trixi - I do have followed your journey and I really have my :fingerscrossed: for you.
Actually I have my :fingerscrossed: for all you ladies who are in the same boat as me, I really hope this year brings us what we desire and we can go through the pregnancy journey together!

HI Ladies,
I too will add my name to the list!?
Im 24 and have been TTC for about 5 months (officially).
I have PCO - and DF hasn't/wont get himself tested (its a work in progress!!)
He has a DD from a previous relationship, but we don't see her much as mer mother isnt the nicest of people! (Long story)
I have an appointment in Jan with a Gyno, and also a specialist about my weight. Doc is hoping tho that the Weight specialist can help me out and there will be no need for the Gyno appointment. Im not on any medication as yet (next doc visit thats what I will be discussing) as baby seems to be slipping further and further away (i know, only young - have plenty of time right!?)
Anyways, hopefully we are all in the 'TTC basket' for a short time!!
Look forward to keeping in contact with you all about our journeys!
Sarah
 Sarah, Looks like you and I have similar stories, cept my DP was tested and he is A OK.
If you dont mind me asking, why are you seeing a weight specialist ? Do they think your weight loss will help the PCO?
I have a bit of extra cushion too, but the specialist said that I should try and lose but it wont make a massive difference to TTC with clomid. I am on a massive health kick/excerise kick as of today anyways, cant hurt right!
Anyways, welcome to the group.

Hi Gals....
I am 24 (25 this may) and DP is 26 in May. We have been TTC#1 since April 08. We were lucky and conceived in May 08, but unfortunately had a miscarriage in July:crying:
After the miscarriage I had to have a rubella booster and we couldnt TTC for 3 months, so we werent able to start again til October, but it hasnt been going so well. My first cycle off the pill (after rubella needle) was 71days and so far this cycle is 38days... I have an appointment for an ultrasound and blood tests on Tues and then may be referred to a fs depending on the outcome
I am positive that 2009 will be the year for us all:D

Wow there are quite a few of us under 25ers with fertility issues it's good to know i'm not alone.
I thought we'd fall pregnant straight away as every female in my family needs to be looked at and they're pregnant looks like i missed out on that gene lol
Well i hope 09 is the year for us all and we are holding our bubs soon.
Thanks for the welcome Dot
I'm seeing the specialist to see if I can get my weight down. I'm a little skeptical as to if it will improve my chances of conceiving and improve my PCO situation - but willing to give anything a go!
The doc seems to think that the PCO is/has only newly surfaced.. Ive caught it in the right phase - so the specialist could help in correcting it.
The doc is the one who gave me the referral to see the her. I went in November, and have a follow up in Jan to see how the changes Ive made have worked. If they haven't - I don't know what im going to do!
Good luck with your health kick! Ive been trying but feel as tho I am getting no where. The weight doesnt seem to be moving, but im not keen on getting on scales so not sure of my progress. Over xmas I had lost about 5kg (first time id got on the scales since my apptment in Nov!)
I have a recipe of a meal replacement (Bircher Muesli) that the specialist gave me PM me if you want a copy!
Hope you have a great day!

Hello Ladies, I Just thought i share my story with all of you.
DH:valentine: is 36 years older than me :D( I never tell anyone though because he looks way younger than that. I usually tell people he is 20 yrs older and you need to see the expression on their faces:confused: - Imagine if i told them it was actually 36). So I am 22 and DH 57 ( 58 dec 09). I happen to be wife #3. He has 2 boys both 15 from his second marriage ( She was 17 years younger than him).
I knew of his Vas from the time we met. I never thought that we'd get married, but what do you know we got married in April. Soon after we got married we saw the FS to work out options. At the time we were thinking about a Vasectomy reversal, but the FS said it was useless, since he had it about 12 yrs ago. ICSI was then recommended. We work overseas so we are only in Perth for months at a time.
I had to bite the bullet and booked us in for Jan. I have very irregular periods but i was given Promilut N. I am to take it for ten days and then it is supposed to bring me AF. Thereafter on day 2 of my AF i will start the injections:confused: This is day 4 of taking the Primolut N ( Has anyone ever taken them before). AS the days grow closer i find that i am more nervous than ever.
Some people ask me why the rush ..... But in my case DH is not getting any younger and even if he was.... so what???? I just want my little bubba:flowerz:.
Sorry for this long note:ecomcity:. I just needed to talk to someone. I am so nervous i have not been out of the house in days.

I think you are all amazing. I never thought id be one to need fertility treatment and its really getting me down atm.. but to see you all going thru it time after time again.. i am sooooooo proud. Its my first cycle and iv got my fingers crossed its all we may need.
Ny doc rang today.. i dont have PCOS or anything like that.. just a hormone inbalance - and he seems to think it may be easier to treat! WAHHHOOOOO
Hopefuly we all get stickys soon :)

Acacia, this is not a long note. This is sharing your story, and we are all really happy to hear about it. I think the majority of us are in the same (or a similar) boat, and need to talk to someone about this enormous thing that is happening in our lives.
It must be really hard to be going through assisted conception when you're not here and don't have access to your doctor all the time.
How is your family and your DH's family with the idea of the 2 of you having babies?

Ok, advice from other youngens:
How long are you waiting before going for fertility testing?
My GP said we shouldn't worry till at least 12 months, but how can you not worry? We're young! We're supposed to be pregnant as soon as we try! It shouldn't take months and years for us to do this?!?! So my question is: at what point do you say "I have a problem"?
How long are you waiting before going for fertility testing?
My GP said we shouldn't worry till at least 12 months, but how can you not worry?
Testing; Ive had myself looked at already, and I have PCO - DF on th other hand is headstrong and hasn't yet had his swimmers tested. My GP told me that the general wait is 12 months and I will be lucky to get a FS see me before that.
Personally I hate the fact that im young and not preggas in the first month of trying... ALL young people are supposed to get pregnant at the drop of a hat right!!!
The waiting is the hard part - not only do I have the TWW to go thru, but the Oing too!!
Good luck in your journey:babydust2::babydust2::babydust2:

03-01-2009, 20:41
Elestrial: I guess the question is, how will u feel if u go through the process of being tested for everything and there isn't a problem?
Also FS are in short supply and there are women who need to see them due to having 'real' issues... Stastically, there is only a 1 in 5 chance each cycle with well timed BD'ing... when u figure that out over 12 months that means some ppl will still be getting there BFP in the 12th month for no reason other than the stastics were against them...
I guess the thing is that seeing a FS and having the GP check some of ur basics are different things. I would check that you O and if not then def see a GP for further tests etc... Also i guess if there were any known reasons why DH may have a low sperm count (e.g. my DH works with chemicals known to reduce sperm count :fingerscrossed: it hasnt for him, he still hasnt been tested) then it may be worthwhile to have that investigated through a GP too.
I am very honestly willing to give things time before jumping into 'intensive' treatments. I figure (as much as no one else has the right to say it me ) i am young and do have the time to go through the 'milder' interventions before having to consider anything more intrusive...
So i dont really think i answered your question... But it is normal to think 'is everything alright' we all invest so much time and energy into ttc that its only normal to think 'what if it's not worth it in the end'... I get through it by knowing there is always a way, and so i'll take this month and the next one as they come, focussing on each cycle separately... as time ticks past i enjoy the freedom i have for not being UTD yet, feel more stable in the extra money we can save, and enjoy my sleep ins..lol.. I guess u can see i never subcumbed to a ticker cause i couldnt handle seeing how many weeks etc i was raking up... yes i have the month i started ttc there but thats something that doesn't change so it doesn't upset me... that's just one of the ways that keeps me sane
ringneck
03-01-2009, 21:00
Emz yay for being easily treated hope you get it sorted soon.
Elestrial i got tested after 5 months BUT that was because i didn't have a period for 127 days and was obviously not ovulating, if i had a regular cycle then i would have waited till 12 months to be tested. Am glad i got in when i did though otherwise i'd be a long way off achieving my baby dreams, they tested DP too as he has been on arthritis meds since he was 3 but he's all good.
trixiebelle17
03-01-2009, 21:35
oh in rereading my post and RN's post i should add... i did get tested for PCOS shortly after starting ttc as i had a 158 day cycle... it become a little obvious something was wrong
Elestrial
03-01-2009, 22:10
So what we're saying is that basically I need to relax unless I notice something is not working. ie. long cycles, no EWCM etc. Until I hit 12 months I need to :chillpill:.
It's hard because like Sarah said "ALL young people are supposed to get pregnant at the drop of a hat right!!!"
It's not neccessarily "is it all worth it" but "what if I spend 12-18 months trying and THEN find out that there is a problem I could have fixed earlier.
Thank you both so much for your responses. :) I know there'll be :baby:'s for us all real soon.:babydust2:
ringneck
03-01-2009, 22:14
Yep that's basically it and although it is hard to relax when it doesn't happen straight away in the grand scheme of things 17 weeks without a bfp is nothing to worry about statistics say a normal healthy couple can take 4-12 months to fall pregnant. If you want to speed things up, if you aren't charting start that way you'll know when to bd and you will improve your chances of conceiving.
heatherm
04-01-2009, 09:53
elestrial seeing as u are only what is considered young you would probably want to wait atleast 12months before getting any testing done unless like others u have irregular periods.
if u were over 30 then u only wait 6 months but given your age 12months cos you are supposively more fertile at this age.
good luck.

I am 20 and DF is 21. We are currently in our 2nd cycle of trying to conceive.
I only got AF 2 days ago and i felt so disapointed.
I know it was unrealsitic to have pined so many hopes on our first try but I was always taught to be so careful and now I know how hard it can be for some I wonder why I was so careful!!!
I feel for all those who have been on such long journeys.
I hope mine is short lived in TTC #1, lets say 2 cycles long!!!??:)

welcome Baby hopeful. hope this cycle brings you the much needed BFP.
Hi everyone, sorry i have been absent for so long. I was going through an IVF cycle, so i was posting on the IVF threads. Just an update on me
I started my IVf with the injections on the 13th, but unfortunately my cycle was cancelled on day 6, due to the growth of a cyst. I was very dissappointed. I still am feeling blue but i guess will get over it. :gloomy:
I am not emotionally ready for another cycle right now, so i want to wait till next year to start another one but surprisingly DH is encouraging me to start another one in a couple of months. Right now i am thinking towards June, but you never know.
Baby dust to you all.
Please update us on what is happening in your lives.... This thread is growing cold

Hi everyone.. sorry ive been a bit quite so i thought id see how u all were doing!!
Well im on day 3 of clomid and it sucks sucks sucks.. im not getting too many s/e - just migraines and some spaced out feelings but apart from that all good.. we are hoping this will bring us our little:bfp:
acacia- Hope u start to feel a bit better hun... Ill send u some baby dust. Just remember if your not emoitionally ready for it, maybe its best to look after yourself for a little bit.
i know exactly wat you mean.. my SIL just got preggas and hasnt stopped rubbing it in our faces... dnt worry, wen we all get preggas we wont stop talking about it!!! :ecomcity:
- u know what she said to me the other night ?? ( after finding out we are on clomid) i cant belive u may be able to have twins.. i was sooo dissapointed when i only heard one heart beat.. GGRRRRRR
Babyhopeful - i was the same as you. We had only been trying naturally for 6ish months when we went to see F/S.. turns out i wasnt ovulating everymonth ( due to unexplained infertility) so thats what got us to go on Clomid. Good luck with ur BFP love - just remember if u wanna up ur chances get ur DH to take some multivitamins, not drink alchol and eat lots of vegs!!! ( Our F/S told us that would be good for the swimmers) Keep us updated
Elestrial - u can always just go to the docs and ask them to do some blood tests to make sure you are ovulating. My doc had said some women get periods every months but dnt ovulate!! So maybe your GP has some good infor for u!!
Well i hope ur all well anyway.. cant wait to see some :bfp: on here this cycle.. hopefully we get a Clomid bubba!!

Hi,
I thought i would join this thread as well. Ive been checking hub bub out for a year now and only joined in Dec.
Well im 25 (hopefully not to old for this thread) & we started TTC in Jan 2008 with still no luck. (So frustrating) But we are on a break at the moment as i feel as if ive been doing it to long (Not as long as some though as i think those people are so strong) and i cant stand the tears & dissapointment every month that i get. I know we should just keep trying and never give up. But we are getting married in october next year and its as good as a break we can get as i dont wanna be 9 months at our wedding if we did fall. Maybe 6 months would do me.. :)

Mleb - im 25 too, not too old for this thread at all :) It is annoying, the constant dissapointment isn't it. I seriously dont know how people can mentally do it for years and years. I nearly have a break down every month when i see that BFN.
Have you seen a fertility specialist?? I was trying for 6ish months and i had no idea why i wasnt falling.. Fs has told me i wasnt ovulating every month.. just one of those things. Now on clomid so fingers crossed we will fall.
I am getting married in feb ... only like 4 weeks away now!!!! Good luck for yours.

Hi Emiz,
We havent gone to see a FS yet. I have had a lap and a dye test & my partner has had his sperms tested. Everything came back fine so they just said "keep trying". (Easier said then done) I wasnt temping for the first 5 months & then i started temping and relised i ovulated later then i thought & that i only had a 10 day luteal phase. But i dont think that really mattered about the late ovulation because we bed all the time anytime whenever. :) Best wishes for your wedding. I cant wait for mine.
Fingers crossed that the Clomid does wonders for you & you get to see those 2 double lines soon. I Hope everyone gets the BFP's that they deserve this year.

acacia - Very frustrating isnt it when everyone else but you falls. We have been trying a year and in that time my 2 sister in-laws, my sister, my 2 best friends & a work collegue all fell pregnant. Thats 6 very close people to me. Im extremely happy for everyone as they are all nearly due now but you can imagine how i felt with the struggles we are having. Noone knows we are even trying which im glad about as i dont want people tip toeing around me.
Hope your feeling better.

Mleb- You are most welcome. Congratulations on your wedding. Is it October this year or next year, because you said next year, but i think you may have made a mistake. I think it is valid if you dont want to be nine months preggars on your w/day. My cousin was eight months on her wedding and she looked like a cow. And yes it is terrible when people around you fall pregnant without even trying. You fell a bit jealous and the feel terrible for feeling jealous...........:D
Emiz-- Hey congratulations girl. I am very happy for you. I love weddings and i enjoyed mine thoroughly. So i wish you the best of luck in your married life. And i hope you get the best wedding present of all-- A little bubba :smiliedance:
I on the other hand am getting better each day. DH has been posted to russsia, so i will spend the next couple of months moving and then spend some more time settling in and then i will come back to perth for another cycle.:sunshine:

Im 23 and DH is 35. This is our first month of trying - not expecting too much this cycle but we've been :bd: every other day just incase :)

Baby - ive read that you shouldnt take EPO after ovulation. Ive been taking it too as im a mega b!tch without it so i dont know how i will go. I think they recommend you stop taking it after O. But if AF arrives you can carry on taking it up until O again.

Hi All:)
Have been TTC since Jan 08. I am 25 & Hubby is 31.
We so badly want to have a healthy baby. Isn't it amazing that it can take so long for some, whereas it seems like for others that don't even 'want' a baby fall pregnant so easily!

I am feeling much better now after the disappointment with my cancelled cycle. Would you believe that during my first u/s, the nurse asked how old i was. i told her 22 and she yelled out "oh my God, you are a baby". that was so humiliating for me. As if that wasnt enough, she went on to say "whats the rush, you are still a bub yourself". :hair:
I felt like walking out. i mean that is so wrong. She could see that i was going through IVF. At 22 it is a nightmare. Personally i never treid to concieve naturally, DH had a vas 12 yrs ago. So from day one we knew it would be IVF. I just cant get over what she said.
Just letting out some steam.
Hi all, just thought I'd introduce myself in here. I am 22 and my husband is 29. We have been trying to conceive since July 06 and have been through 7 ART cycles (2 IVF, 2 IVM & 3 FET). Unfortunately we have not been successful although we had a chem preg/early loss in our last FET cycle. We have one frozen embryo left which we will put back next cycle, so am trying to gear up for that. Last cycle I did acupuncture which I found really helpful so will definitely try that again.
I have PCOS and my husband has very low (almost no) sperm motility which puts our chances at having a child naturally at under 2%
In regards to being young and going through fertility issues, I have learnt to be strong in my convinction and honestly not to concern myself with what other people think. I am married, have bought a house, paid off two cars, work fulltime in a high paying job. But its a physiological urge to have a child that makes us go through the trials of IVF.

Becca i'm about to head down the IVF path myself and seen that you've done IVM, where did you have that? I am really interested in it and was going to grill my doctor about it on the 11th but always good to hear from personal experience. Whihc do you think is better IVF or IVM?
:hugs: what a long hard journey you've had i hope you get your BFP very soon, you should come join us in the roller coaster 12 months plus thread.
