View Full Version : waking time and temp charting

I starting charting on day 12 of this cycle and have never paid too much attention to waking time :o since I wake anywhere between 5am and 6am (very occasionally 6.30) - but this morning just out of interest, I lay in bed for an extra 30 minutes and took my temp again. WELL... it really did go up by .12 in that little space of time!!

I have gone back to my chart on fertility friend and adjusted all my temps up or down by .1 per half hour and it is quite a different chart!!

So, it's still anyone's guess if I've conceived or not (I am now on my 2nd day past AF due date but FF says I ovulated late, dammit) but I wanted to share this for anyone else who might have just started charting and not be paying much attention to minor variations in waking time. It really does make quite a significant difference (or was it just me who didn't quite get that...?) :)

Cheers,
Cosmic xx

Wow i cant belive they went up by staying in bed for an extra 30 minutes, but what are you supose to do set the alarm for exactly 6.00 in the morning and take your temp straight away? What happens if you need to pee first ? Will that alter your reading? When i tryed the charting temp thingy i just took my temp what ever time Connor woke up (between 7 and 8.30) I dont know if i did it properly and sometimes i forgot to check (slack).
Hey cosmic have you tried the cevical mucus? i found that a bit confusing too!
It would be soooo much easier if it was up to the males when we fell pregant. as in if there testies are blue (not fertile) and if there red (fertile) Sorry i know it sounds stupid but it would be so much easier, why is it always up to the woman? And then when women do concieve the male struts around like it was all him!!!

Jenn, you are too funny!! But I love that coloured balls thing. :) What a fabulous idea!

I'm going to try the cervical mucus thing this month and have been taking Evening Primrose Oil to try to get more of it because up to now, I very rarely see any.

As for temps, you are supposed to hold that first pee! Really!! Sometimes I have had the thermometer in my mouth while I wriggle and squirm around just busting to go!! As soon as you talk, eat, drink, or get up you muck it up apparently. And yes, I was amazed at the difference 30 minutes made.

oh well, lucky for you you don't have to worry about that anymore. ;) How's your levels today??

Hey there Cosmic, im glad it make you laugh about the colour balls, its good sometimes to take the edge of the whole pregnancy thing.
Well i had my doc appotiment today and all is very well my levels were perfect the doc was happy,(there up to 8000 from 229) so i was so relived today to hear that.Im roughly about 4 or 5 weeks pregnant so probably concevied the 2 or 3 of june which worked out excactly when i ovulated.
So you going to try the c/m, if your charting your temp, checking your c/m and bonking like a rabbit when you ovulate the im sure the prove will be in the pudding!!

Hi All
I'm Mum to my spunky little boy, Dain (17mths old) and he took me 3 years to conceive!! That was due to a moderate to rough case of endomentriosis which I have not had a single twinge of since his birth. Yay for us!!! :D We are trying again now....third month trying so fingers crossed, but just in case it's no good again can anyone enlighten me on this whole body temperature taking thing? I have heard about maybe baby as well and will look into that if I'm an August tryer. But would be interesting to know about the temp thing.
Thanks for your help,
Shona aka Dainsmum ;)

Hi Shona.. I've just cut and pasted this from another thread I was replying to so I hope it answers your question too... let me know if I can give you any more info. But the FF website (below) has a million FAQ so anything you need to know, you can usually find there.

If you get a fertility thermometer and take your temperature at exactly the same time before you get out of bed every morning and record the temps on a chart (you can do it online at www.fertilityfriend.com) you can usually see very clearly when you have ovulated - you can also record your BD, your CM, your OPK, your Maybe Baby - the LOT!! And it uses all that info to tell you when it thinks you ovulated. Couldn't be easier!

Has anyone tried the Billings method?
Because I find it difficult to get up at exactly the same time each day, the temperature method hasn't worked for me yet.
I wanted to learn how to chart my CM, so about six months ago I contacted a local billings nurse and it took me a while to learn what my body was doing.
It can take some practice to recognise the body's CM patterns because every womans pattern is different.
These nurses are very cluey about different women's cycles.
I was very surprised at how accurate CM charting can be.
This method can be used for conception as well as contraception.
(I realize it's not for everyone though.)
If anyone is interested the website of World Organization Ovulation Method Billings is: www.woomb.org

cheers

Hi Nadia,

I know lots of women who are successful CM. I have to admit I've never made much effort with it, but have started checking it out lately, along with temps etc. So if I've had no luck this month (I'm having a whacky month it seems) I will get onto it next month. Thanks for the link!

And good luck!!
