I haven’t planned one but I’ve been to one. A friend and her fiancé went on a trip through Asia and we all thought they got married on Thailand and we were going to their reception. It was held at a beautiful winery. She wore a lovely yellow dress and everyone was dressed semi-formal.

Once everyone had arrived and mingled for a bit the celebrant came out and they started a small civil ceremony. It was very informal but beautiful. There was a buffet for dinner and sweets served with beer and wine.

HTH??

Wow, congratulations, how exciting!!!

I dont think planning it will be too difficult depending on the size and location of it and depending on your budget. My wedding was the budget wedding of the century!!!
Tell me, do you plan to have your wedding at home? And how many people do you intend to invite?

First thing after booking a celebrant I would do is book a photographer. Take your time to find a really good one. I got a cheap shonky one and lost 3 rolls of film that she accidentally exposed.

You could still get a local cafe to cater for you and do some nice finger foods. It wont be much more expensive than buying and preparing all the food yourself and the last thing you want to be doing in the lead up to your special day is sweating it out in the kitchen!:flowerz:

I haven't had a surprise wedding, but I went to one a couple of years ago. Our friends invited everyone to a BBQ and got them to bring a plate. Once everyone had arrived, then the hosts did and the celebrant and surprised us all with a lovely backyard wedding - it was beautiful and then we all feasted and had a lovely time.
Their wedding cake was a tower of profiteroles and strawberries, which looked impressive and was delish!

I agree - book your photographer, celebrant and then look at a local place doing your catering, so you can supply some drinks and relax and enjoy your day.

:goodvibes:Congratulations first:goodvibes:

I have not done one myself but have attended a few.

The best one by far, were told we were attending my friends b'day party, so all dressed up we met at a park. Where we got piled onto a bus, and given a bag of goodies. When we got on the bus, we were told hey its our wedding. We then got told to change into the clothes in our bags (hawaiian shirt and shorts/thongs for all) as we headed to the harbour.
We went out on a boat for a wine cruise, and they got hitched, by sunset is was amazing.

We all paid for our cruise, as that is what we were doing for "her birthday" so all they paid for was photos and cake.
Was so amazing.

Good luck

My sister had a suprise wedding and it was great. She told me before hand so I could help her a little bit. They had it at their engagement party which was at a cool cafe in the city. They told the rest of the bridal party and parents a week before so dresses and suits could be arranged. On the day of the wedding they still got all of the wedding shots but we did it before the ceremony. When it came to the party we had a secret back room where all of our wedding clothes were and after about an hour of the party we all slipped away and got changed then the celebrant made an announcement that they were getting married and we made our entrance. It was soooo good.

My wedding was a suprise and it was fantastic!
We hired a venue, for a Friday night, and told everyone it was a semi formal engagement party. Because of the venue and time, nobody clicked.
Anyways, we only wanted an intimate wedding and wanted a 'per head' price for finger food and booze which is one of the reasons we chose the venue. If you want to know the venue, PM me and I will let you know. It's in Brisbane, but it may give you ideas.
Anyway our celebrant was there, mingling from the start (the only people that knew were my parents, MIL, BIL and SIL), and no one was any the wiser.
I crept off with my dad at a particular time, hubby called everyone's attention for a speech, the celebrant introduced herself and told everyone we were getting married, a staff member put the music on and I walked out with my dad and my bouquet (that was hidden by a staff member earlier on) to all of our shocked guests!!
It was wonderful and I would never have done it any other way.
