What happened to this section  Its like it just died :(
What is happening Illawarra Chicky's?? :sunshine:
Im not an Illawara girl...
But I gave birth in Wollongong Hospital. And we visit there regularly. I wondered if there was any hubbers over there. Such a beautiful area.
I'm an Illawarra mummy! I used to check out what was going on in here regularly but then, like you said missie mack, it just got dead quiet!
I always used to see threads about meets etc, but back then I didn't have my bub- Now I do and everything has gotten oh so quiet!

Oh my sympathies about the hospital Hazelnut :p But yes I love the Illawarra and missed it terribly when we moved away for 12 months :)

thats funny
i have in the past posted on here and pmmed people about meets etc
and have got nothing in return
so i say why bother,
when people dont usually return your pms or answere u about the meets anyway
i jsut think its courtsey if mention to someone about a meet or that you are going somewhere and if they would like to come
that they reply to you dont u think
i have had that happen a couple of times on here with a couple of illawarra members so i dont bother anymore and give up
and just go to places and organise meets but dont mention it on here anymore or to anyone

I just moved to the Illawarra and I must admit that the whole pregnancy experience here is a bit daunting. I come from an area where birth is celebrated and natural birth is the norm.. I'm finding it difficult to get info on where is best to give birth..any ideas? I'm thinking I'll drive to Bowral!

Hiya  Where have you moved from?? In the Illawarra there are two hospitals you can give birth at Wollongong Public and Figtree Private. Figtree overall has a better rate of VBAC and less emergency CS's as per the mothers and babies report. Shellharbour Public had been discussing starting a homebirth service but I am not sure if this has started yet. Group midwife practice is meant to be the best way to go having a natural birth overall if you are looking for a hospital experience. There is a private midwife in the Illawarra. Illawarra Birth Choices (http://www.geocities.com/illawarra_birth_choices/) might be of a interest too. I think there are a couple of doula's around the area but imagine there might be some Sydney ones likely to move along. Last time I checked there are no hospital services available for waterbirth however I do believe that Wollongong public has been doing some training to start being able to offer this service but I don't know where that got to.
Congrats on your pregnancy :)

Im here and loving it!
its a pitty all our threads have vanished as their where some prettty go stories and resources mentioned:no:
I live in a burb near bulli.. and have been living down this way for nearly 2 years
have a little bubba boy called Aiden who has just turned 6m :p he is fully Breast fed (can u say that where u introduce solids)
I gave birth at Wollongong hospy under dr grennings care and had a pretty good experience... they have a few options for care, I would have like to do midwife group care but had a little hiccup and decided to have dr grenning assist me in my delivery of my beautiful bubba... !
ok let try get our little spot up and running!
Hey I would be up for a meet - I need all the advice I can get - almost 17 weeks with my first!
I live in Albion Park Rail and will be giving birth at Figtree Private with Dr Greening (he was my fertility Doc).
