View Full Version : Allergy to Formula ?

I have just started my 17 week old boy on 1 bottle of formula per day as I am heading back to fulltime work in a few weeks.

When he is drinking, he gets slightly red and blotchy around the eyes. He is on S26 standard infant formula and I have tried different flowing teats but always the same result. I have called the helpline at S26 who have no record of such a reaction.

The redness usually subsides within 3-4 minutes of him finishing the bottle.

Any ideas ?

Hi Katrina

My little one goes red around the eyes - like she's been crying - when her milk is a little too hot, or when the flow is not open enough, if she has to suck to hard IYKWIM. She also gets red around the eyes when she's tired. She's on S26 as well, but the same thing happened when I switched to Heinz Nurture and then back to S26.

Not sure if this helps or not...

Cheers

Jakob gets all blotchy in the face when he is going for it on the bottle. I don't think it is a allergic reaction. Not in him anyway. If you are worried try to make a doctors appt. around a feed time. Good luck. Let us know how you go :)

Lachlan sometimes gets red too when he is drinking....usually if he is "going at it hard" too......I don't think it is anything to worry about...particularly if it goes away after the feed and doesn't seem to bother bub. :)

Thanks for all of the feedback.

It doesn't seem to bother him and is helpful to hear other instances from you all. We're off to the GP next week for his 4 mth immunisations so will take up a bottle and see if they can shed any light. Otherwise will just mark it down to being one of those things...

Thanks again,

Katrina
