we are moving back home! yay...well goldcoast is home...but all the same lol...a lot closer than perth! yay can't wait.

altho i dread the packing.

we are 'hopefully' moving back at the end of jan/start of feb and staying with family on the GC til we find a rental.

SOME QUESTIONS!!!

so suburbs close to aiport and a shopping centre and trains prefferably? please suggest good ones. from realestate.com.au there are houses 3 bedrooms for 300-350 which is our price range - so thats a plus.

also....hosiptals...i am 24 weeks pregnant with our second...what good public hospitals do people recomend? i am considering birthing on the GC (just stay with family a week before i am due unless i am admitted to hospy like last time before the birth) i know the GC hospital and loved it...so that is an option...

hmmm...what elese...really we would like a place close to the airport...as well as a shopping centre and a train. as i don't drive.

thanks heaps
any other advice appreciated!
can't wait to meet up with some of you!!! :)

I'm a bit confused as to whether you want info on Brisbane or the Gold Coast?

If it's Brisbane, the suburbs nearest to the Airport are Nudgee, Virginia, Geebung, Nundah, Toombul, Wavell Heights, Hendra, Ascot, Clayfield, Wavell Heights, Chermside. There's a big difference in the price of homes/standard of living between say Virginia and Ascot! For the price range you're looking in, you 'may', get a home in Virginia or Nudgee, but I doubt it, as the house market has changed dramatically and it's hard to find a home in that range close to what you're after.

These suburbs are all close to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and shopping centres such as Centro Toombul and Chermside Westfield.

The northgate and shorncliffe lines run along some of the suburbs mentioned above.
Good luck with your big move!

yep Brissy!

thanks for that, appreciated.
as i said i have already been researching on realestate.com.... have researched from doomben up to fitzgibbon, and as far out as chermside...and they range from $300-350! so that is ok...we will find something...never had issues finding rentals before anywhere! :) there seems to be good train lines so thats the main thing i guess so we have acess to shops!

just want to know the decent areas really...!

thanks for the hospy info too!

we moved here 9 months ago from the gold coast so pretty much have the whole moving thing down pat ha ha...which is good having a toddler i guess!!! have to be organised!

:doh:Me, sorry, I thought you meant 300-350 to buy, not rent! Yes, you will definitely find a good rental in that price bracket.

Fitzgibbon is good, very close to the train line, so is Carseldine (beside Fitzgibbon), Boondal.
Wavell Heights, Northgate, Chermside, Nundah, Clayfield and Toombul are all good suburbs, close to major shpping centres and not far from the RBH. The ones that aren't on the train line, Chermside and Wavell, have excellent public bus transport straight to the city and Hospy.

Hey there fellow April 09-er! For what it's worth, Chermside has an excellent shopping centre - I often make the extra effort to go there over my more local Westfields. It's about 20 mins south from me and very close to the airport - takes me about 10 mins east if I want to pop in and see DH before I come home (he works at the airport). I don't know much about rental prices but we pay 420pw for a large 4bed. Once you're settled, maybe we could meet for a coffee, if you want. :)

i dont think u will have much of a choice cause there zoned hun.

I am going to Caboolture cause there AWSOME, but closest to the airport would be the Royal womans, or Mater i am guessing.

Hope you don't feel offended now but I would never send my kids to Kallangur State School. Not if there's an other option.

I have a few friends around the Kallangur Area and all of them looking for alternatives.

I've heard the Narangba Valley School is pretty good, or if you're looking to stay in the Area of Kallangur, then there's the Murrumba Downs State School (called Undurba) or the North Lakes State College (although you'd have to live in the Catchment Area, North Lakes, Mango Hill and I think Griffin, unless they're building a school there).

Mum2cheekymoo, I had my little one at the Royal and had no issues at all. :)

Oh no i would never send him to Kallangur:no: i have heard bad things as well.

No he will go back to Dakabin SS he did prep there and i went there when i was a kid and they are wonderful with him.

Our other option is Narangbar valley if we get a house in Naragnbar.

Thanks for the tips though:thumbsup:
