Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone else has a child with hearing loss to one ear? I recently found out my 3 1/2 yr DD has severe to profound hearing loss to her right ear. Just wondering if anyone else out there in bubhub world has a child with this and if they can give me any info on best way to help her deal with it in school, etc!
Have awhile to go I know - but want insider info on how it effects the kids.. not just the pamphlet info. IYKWIM :)
Thanks in advance :)
Shannan

I guess I kind of expected someone out tthere to have a child with a similar thing. Hmmm will keep searching the net to see what I can find :)
Hi Imogens mum,
DS has a number of health issues but not hearing problems, however there are a couple of other mums in the SN section whose children do have hearing loss, I cannot confirm which type their children have but I am sure they will be along to chat soon.
Is your DD's condition genetic, trauma related or other?
hey there, I seen your post but didnt reply as hearing loss is not somethign my DD deals with, I know one of the mums on the SN chat thread her little girl has hearing loss and she has hearing aides but not sure the details she is not on line that the moment as she is moving house im sure she wil reply when she is
there is a US web site called Parent 2 parent there are heaps of SN kids on there and i know there are many with hearing aides and implants etc
Hi there  I don't have a child with hearing loss, but I do, i'm about 80% deaf in my right ear and about 30% in my left
I never had a hearing aid as its my nere endings that are dead, and we were told that a hearing aid wouldn't help (found out in my teens we were told wrong :banghead:) so I went through school with no aids, or anyone to help me
I always had to be up frount in the class, and I had to sit on the right hand side of the classroom, so I could hear better, all teachers were told about my hearing loss, and the kids as well
i'm not sure exactly what you want to know, but if you wanna ask questions I can give you the answers from a childs perspective

You are all fantastic.. I just assumed it was something that was fairly common. As thats kind of the impression that the audiologist gave me.. so figured in our big system we'd have a few children/parents with experience in this area..
Kewe - really just seeking any info in general about it. But more from the childs perspective/parents perspective rather than all the pamphlet feedback.
Naiwen - at the moment we don't really know what the cause is. Still investigating. May be linked to recent seizures, but unsure.
Mikenzees Mum - Thanks for that site will have a look:)
I'll pop into the SN area - guess I hadn't thought of that, theres an
Thanks again ladies... truly appreciated!!
