thanks!!
Jasmin is too young for ST yet but it will start when she's a little older (she has a PT and OT so far). She's 17months and only has one word which is a noise not a word but she's working on it. Whenever she sees a cow she says oo. She doesn't make sounds as much as noises. No ba, ma da sounds at all. Does that sound like dyspraxia? I wonder how much a PT can help. I hope they can.

hi there. sounds like your little one has a speech delay. she is definately not too young for speech therapy. i would get her an assessment as soon as you can. PT doesnt really help with dyspraxia. My daughters dyspraxia affects her coordination and her speech. she can run and jump etc but she can be very unco when walking and can appear drunk at times lol. she is also slow to respond at times and her speech is very unclear. she is starting to pick up alot of language now (she has an expressive speech delay) but her speech is very hard to understand most of the time. sometimes it is clear and sometimes she cant repeat things she said or they come out all wrong...here is a link to explain dyspraxia better....

Thanks for the link. I thought it was just a name given to children with a speech delay. I didn't realize what it was exactly.
I was diagnosed with dsypraxia as a child (along with dyslexia) and I found it affeced me most with physical coordination in sports, I would perceive a ball coming towards me as 10 cm from where it really was, it affected my running and jumping for a long time as well.
I walked downstairs with my feet turned for about 15 years!
It didnt seem to affect my speech much but of course it varies in severity from child to child.
Oh and Forest I am getting Edward into ST for speech delay at 18 months so not too early IMO!

Hi there,
I have a little man who just turned 8 today and has global dyspraxia. I've been researching and trying anything and everything to help him for the last 6 years. It first became obvious with his delayed speech as he seemed to reach his other mile stones dead on average. However as he has grown older the way it affects his comprehension, movement and social interactions has become more obvious. Happy to chat :)
