Hi All,

My 2.5yr old has almost dropped his day sleep :( . About 3 days out of the week he will have a sleep after lunch and sometimes he falls asleep while in the car if we have been out and about. Most times I can transfer him from the car to bed when we get home.

My issue is, the days that he doesn't have a day sleep, by about 4pm he is cranky and tired. How can I deter his attention to the fact that he is tired long enough to see his bed time which is about 6:30pm to 7:00pm?

I don't want to go back to forcing a day sleep becuase when he sleeps during the day it takes him for ever to fall asleep at night.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated! :o

Thanks in advance

Marty

Hi. We had a similar thing with our first son (now 5). In the end, we settled for some "quiet time" in front of the TV or a video. Some times he'd fall asleep on the couch and that would mean a shorter sleep than he'd have in bed - or we'd wake him. Other times, we'd take him for a walk in the stroller, so he'd have a short nap. I know what you mean tho', you only want about 30 mins sleep to take the edge off them. I'd recommend that you try to get some sleep anyway you can, but be prepared also to take him if necessary. And this whole thing only lasts a couple of months or so, then they can manage. Good luck! :D
